A Stars=A+ I bought these gloves for track days which required gauntlet style gloves, and have been very pleased. This is my 4th pair of Alpinestars gloves and noticed they run slightly larger than most. I'm an XL in Alpinestars and this has some extra room in the fingers, but this actually makes them quite comfortable. Like always with Alpinestars, you get what you pay for, this is another great example. June 14, 2015
Great street glove for max protection and wrist support Tried these and the S-1 gloves. The S-1's where nice but run smaller than the SP-1's. Also the S-1 wrist closure was too flimsy for me compared to the SP-1 which is supposed to be gauntlet style. The SP-1's do have extra material on the wrist cuff but the "gauntlet" part is not big enough to tuck them outside the sleeves of my older Alpinestars B1 jacket. The "gauntlet" material is also not excessive so that they feel bulky. When they are wrapped up with the two velcro straps, they fit under the sleeves of my jacket just fine. The wrist portion of the glove gives some extra protection and also lightly braces / supports my wrists which I exactly what I wanted. Also there a very clever vent in between the knuckles and the cuff that is very flexible and improves the comfort of these gloves,. If you want a bit more protection and better wrist support than a short-cuff glove, I think you cant go wrong with the SP-1's. Overall the fit/finish is really great and after a short break-in they are fitting excellent. Also a bit more air flow than I expected which is great and I'm not using these for warmth in colder weather. I like more toned-down styling in general but in this case I took the red/white over the black, they are not over the top and the red/white parts really set off the glove nicely compared to all back. . Style and function This glove is like no other fits well looks good and is great bang for the buck May 11, 2015
Nice gloves I was struggling between different models of gloves, tried ones from more cheap segment, but they was not comfortable, had almost no protection or just don't look like they would survive more than one season. Finally bought SP1, riding for a month with them already and really happy. They are light, made good, have adequate protection. So far I was riding in the temperatures from 50 till 80 and I don't have any issues with hands being cold or hot. May 8, 2015
Great all around gloves I am one of those people that is stuck between LG and X-LG sizes on gloves. So these fit me perfect and there is just enough space for glove liners without them getting too tight. April 29, 2015
Amazing glove These Sp1 gloves are my very 1st gauntlet glove and I love them. I purchased them for the street/track. The design is awesome, fits great, and has tons of air flow. Only issues that I had was the carbon fiber knuckles, for the 1st few rides it's uncomfortable until the gloves really break in. With leather tho that's suppose to happen. Once again sick gloves you won't be disappointed. April 27, 2015
Just a bit better. I have a pair of the SP-2 gloves I love, but thought I would see if the SP-1 was just that much better..and it is. The extras: wrist strap, better venting, better flexability and generally better protection all go to make this just a bit better for the only slightly higher price. Size up as noted in the video and for a quick break- in, leather conditioner (cream type) the outside then apply to back and palm of hands, insert in gloves and wear for 1 hour making tight fists. These will be very comfortable gloves with excellent flex and control feel. April 20, 2015
LOVE THESE GLOVES! Great color and GREAT comfort, be sure to get the right size to make sure its a snug and comfortable fit. I bought the White/Red/Yellow Just a note the wrist strap mesh part is actually the High Viz yellow not white. In the photo it shows it white. February 22, 2015

Hamilton D: Looks and safety Aug 19, 2014
Adam L: Wanted a full gauntlet glove for that extra protection. Fit great soon as I tried them on...I have large hands so XXL was the perfect size for me. They are becoming a little more flexible as I wear them which I like. Aug 12, 2014
Rhys O: Looking for a gauntlet. And ended up going with these bad boys over the dianese carbon st, because the extra palm cushion and the pinky bridge and the design was a little more appealing over the Carbons, I really liked the carbons for the big slider though, tough decision Jul 25, 2014
Michael T: Alpinestars anything will never disappoint you with features and functionality Jun 8, 2014
Anthony N: I wanted as much protection as possible for my hands, so having the extra wrist fastener, along with the bridge from the ring finger to little finger is a must have. Adding the carbon fiber knuckle guard and the fact that it is made of cowhide makes this a must try/have for me. Jun 5, 2014
Lionel G: Upgrading from my work SP-2 street gloves May 18, 2014
Richard B: Loved the design and safety features. May 5, 2014
Paul T: Need a high-quality street glove that will protect my hands well. Apr 16, 2014
Richard B: Wanted nice, flexible, protective, gloves that look cool, ha ha. Apr 5, 2014
Joshua J: big fan of alpinestar. i have been using the older style gp pro plus. they lasted about 2.5 years i used crap out of them but they just wore out. this pair is cheaper but still has a good amount of protection. Mar 28, 2014
Nathan P: They look sweet and comfortable Mar 22, 2014
Usha D: The video review was very helpful and compared to the SP-2, this was a better value for a little bit more money. Mar 5, 2014
Andrew B: Bought these gloves in the white trim. The white trim is super sleek with nice red accents on the A* logo. I love these gloves. These gloves go well with the Alpinestars GP-R Leather Jacket in white trim. However, the cuff of the jacket is somewhat large compared to the gauntlet on the glove. I may buy the new alpine gloves that aren't a full gauntlet, yet still provide wrist protection. That would solve my jacket/gloves issue. Dec 17, 2013
Darren W asked: I'm a sportbike, all weather commuter...how well do these hold up in heavy rain and the colder months? Worth noting, I run heated grips. Cheers Apr 11, 2015

V I: Good gloves but ...
It's a hot/warm , maybe cool whether glove, but when it's cold it gets freezing in your fingers since it has a lot of perfuration , I keep another pair of winter gloves with me , living in San Fran weather changes quickly in a day , but we don't get much rain . The ones I've been with this gloves weren't heavy ones , and they did fine for leather .
One thing that I don't like about it , is that thiner Velcro that holds the wrist had it's seams open in a month . I feel like the seams of the actual gloves aren't , but there is something weird when that Velcro ends up grabbing one another after you use it , pulling the thread too . So the grabbing side of the small Velcro is gone . That said , maybe it was just unlucky of me because the other hand is fine.
It's not bad for the price , but my next I will upgrade the level of protection a little .
Note on fit , they took a little while to break in . I am S , maybe could've done M.
Hope it helps your decision .

Doug B: Definitely DO NOT recommend these for rain. It will ruin the gloves and you will get wet hands. They are not designed for rain. For cooler temps, you are probably fine down to about 50 (educated guess) but then need a more sealed glove if you want to keep the hands toasty. I don't think heated grips will do enough to compensate for the venting these gloves have. May 1, 2015

Laurence M: I only run with these gloves on my sports bike on dry days and they feel great, well vented and good feedback with any inputs. I ride a GS Adventure daily and year round with heated grips and to be honest I ride bare handed in the rain with the grips on or with just a pair of light moto x gloves as they all get wet anyway with the stop start of city riding. A shopper asked: How are the gloves in the heat ? Does it cool/flow air enough? We're I live it get up 110+ hot weather. Mar 12, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Richard S: Last summer I wore them in 110+ degree weather. When I was moving at highway speeds they were fine, just open up your hands occasionally to let additional air through.
When in slow moving traffic my hands were still sweating. But at 110+ my gloves were the least of my concern.

Doug B: I think at 110, unless it is a flimsy glove without much structural integrity, it's going to be hot. The air flow is good, but not miraculous - which is what I expect from this kind of design. May 1, 2015

A shopper asked: I measure large, but I wear SMX2's size XL and they fit great but not all leather. Stick with XL for these as well, or follow size chart? May 1, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Doug B: I don't have experience with SMX2, so I can't provide any advice.
What I can say is that Revzilla will happily exchange if XL doesn't work.
