Surprisingly comfortable and 'airy' I live in California and only ride casually so warm weather performance was one key thing. I wanted a white boot to compliment my A* 2-piece race suit but didn't want to spend a fortune on it and so I was really happy to find the SMX 6 vented boots. As usual, Revzilla delivered quickly and the boots fit like I've been wearing them for years. I've had a couple Sidi and other boots in the past but none were this comfortable, even after wearing them for months. I didn't have any of the problems mentioned below but did make sure that the small allen screws are tightened so I don't lose them (will keep on checking on them regularly). It also surprised me how much airflow my feet get during riding. Due to this, I would not recommend this boot below 55-60F temperatures as it does get pretty cold in there. Having said that, it will be amazing on sunny 85-90F days... Also, if you're buying a suit with this boot, the A* Motegi goes really well with it in terms of design and fitment. December 9, 2014
Great Product I have worn these boots constantly until the winter kicked in. Great quality with excellent protection. They look as good now as they did when I bought them. They will be worn again when the spring returns. December 3, 2014
Extremely comfortable Very well made incredibly comfortable, good ventilation at speed, definitely a great buy. October 31, 2014
I feel protected The fit on the boots are narrow and that is a good thing since I have a narrow foot. I was advised to go one step lower than my normal size on these Alpinestars Boots and I found that to be wrong. Sandals that I have worn for years are size 46 and my boots came in at 45. Too narrow and luckily Revzilla exchanged them for 46's. The 45's were too tight at the base of the toes (widest part of the foot). 46's were perfect and did not seem to be too long. Walking in these boots are no problem. Living in Florida in the summertime, the venting is welcomed but not as much as I had hoped. I feel that the winter months will show that venting can be overcome with heavier socks. I now feel safe, secure and protected with my Alpinestars SMX 6 vented boots! September 1, 2014
Great Boots This is my second pair of Alpinestars boots and I love them. The venting is almost necessary in Arizona in the Summer. Highly recommended. August 12, 2014
Great Entry Level Track Day/Commute boot The boot fits a little bigger than anticipated. I would recommend at least a size smaller than what you figure on unless you wear 3 pairs of socks. Great Comfort though and fled through the boot. Easy movement of ankle and great traction. August 8, 2014
Great boot.. Except it came apart after ONE ride Have had several pairs of other A* boots. These are typical good fit, nice construction, and I appreciate the new details relative to the SMX5. That said, The ankle protector screw came out after ONE ride. Yes, it was maybe 4 hours total. I'm in contact with A* on warranty work, and I will try to update with my experiences, but they clearly have a QC issue with this boot. August 4, 2014
Great boot by a star! These are my first pair of boots I've ever rode with. They are way more comfortable than they look. I've been riding in my military boots normally which aren't the most comfortable thing and don't come on/off very easily. These can be on and off in a matter of seconds. Air flow is great while moving. Haven't tested the safety of them and hopefully never have to. They are comfortable enough to walk around in also. June 25, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Neil H: Easy to get on and off, lots of protection, lightweight. Dec 13, 2014
Stuart K: Alpinestars are a quality product and offer excellent protection. Nov 17, 2014
Alberto O: Tried them out at the store, and they fit perfectly and are super comfortable Oct 6, 2014
Yang L: For comfort in summer heat of southern California. Sep 30, 2014
Edcel P: I am in the process of piecing together my track suit. This has a bit more protection than the mx-5s on closeout and with the revzilla cash i have from my previous purchase this comes out to be near the same price as the mx-5s. This is my first aggressive track/street boot. I use cortech vice wp for commuting in a size 45, and seeing as how many comments state that the mx-6 runs a bit big I chose the size 45 to hopefully get a good fit. Sep 19, 2014
Jeffrey E: Did not like these. No pedal feel, maybe just me though, they got really good reviews. I used the size chart but didn't feel comfortable riding in them. Aug 11, 2014
David V: Trashed my MX 5's on the track and they were the most comfortable sport/street boots I've ever owned. Could not get the MX-6 until August in Canada. Was looking for better ventilation than the MX-5 Jun 25, 2014
Charles M: Fully CE certified, Perforated, Super Comfortable, Easy to walk in, Cool Design, Light Weight. Jun 9, 2014
Jack H: Vented for the Texas heat and a lot of reviews listed as being comfortable. Looking for around town, commuting, and maybe some spirited riding in the twisties. Jun 2, 2014
Joe B: I was shopping around in a lower price range, then I tried on some of these boots just for fun. I didn't think it was possible for boots to be this comfy! Vented, comfy, and good protection? Yep, I must have it. May 28, 2014
marcio s: good reviews and recommendation from revzilla May 28, 2014
Andy W: Upon research, it seems this was the best value for the bucks. Also, Alpinestars and Revzilla both are reputable brands!! Apr 18, 2014
Hien T: I've never owned Alpinestars boots before and I figure I'd give them try. Apr 16, 2014
Matthew T: I have alpinestars jacket and gloves and love them .you've got great videos .and that was a big part of it also .I live in the mountains and wanted a little more than the smx 5 had to offer thank you . Feb 17, 2014
Hien T: I currently own some Dainese boots and I figure I'd try a new brand this season. Feb 14, 2014
Jeffrey E: Great reviews. Feb 1, 2014
Lardy A: I choose this boot because I felt that it will be ideal for use in hot climatic conditions. Its review was also very good. Jan 16, 2014
Ryan H: Good on track off track boot, had high reviews and good styling Dec 17, 2013
steve b: Check your sizes carefully! I wear European shoes everyday, other moto boots and even cycling shoes all fit well as a 46.
These 46's are WAY big! I had to exchange down. Good news is Revzilla makes it pretty easy, but I'm still out the shipping charges.
I wish Revzilla was like zappos and paid for the return shipping too!

Jason R asked: I've had a little trouble with Alpinestar's velcro in the past. How does the big velcro patch on these boots hold up to repeated use? Also, I have kinda wide feet. Would this boot be comfortable for everyday riding? Jul 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Johnathan R: To be honest.... I have the vented and the non-vented for both hot and cold weather riding. The velcro on the vented are holding up nicely after about 4 months of use (I ride daily to/from work and weekend riding) I only have 2 months in the non-vented but they are still like the day I bought them. To date... no issues. I wear 9.5-10 in mens and in these I wear an 8 (this was weird) but they are comfortable on daily rides as well as weekend long-haul gettaways. If you have wide feet.... depends how wide but the sizing can be a factor. These boots should be a little snug in the beginning and eventually they will stretch out but not a lot. These are a little narrow in the beginning . Hope this helps Jul 12, 2014

Jason M: I've had mine for a couple months and wear them 3-4 times a week. So far the Velcro is fine, almost too strong. No pilling or signs of wear. The zipper goes about 2/3 up, so the Velcro mostly just keeps everything tight, it doesn't hold boot on. My feet are on the wide side of normal and they fit fine. There's room for wider feet due to padding and stretch in the forefoot.
These are different than MX boots. Not as much support, but more mobility with the protective parts wrapping around a padded, stretchy boot. Definitely comfortable on the bike, not sure about wearing them around as I usually just walk into work and change into work shoes.
I'm really happy with them.

Colin F: I found these boots to be wider than Sidi's. Velcro is good but the top of the boot opening is big so you end up folding the enclosure over more than is intended based on design and there isn't as big of a patch of Velcro as necessary to accommodate. I've been meaning to take mine to my tailor to add a bigger connective patch to deal with a tighter closure. Very comfortable. Highly vented. Jul 12, 2014

Mark S: I have both these and the smx5 as well both the Velcro on each is great. Had the mx5 for two years and smx6 for almost a year no issues. I also have a wide foot and find they fit really well. I would highly recommend these. Jul 13, 2014

Banning C: Good ventilation and good fit. I cannot speak to whether or not this boot will accommodate a wide foot, however the boot has been great for me and no velcro issues thus far. Jul 13, 2014
Reply to Banning Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
David C: I haven't had any problems with the Velcro yet. I've got about 1000 miles in them, so far so good. I've got wide feet too and the SMX 6 fits great. I tried a few others that wouldn't fit due to width. I did size up one size to 45 rather than 44. I wear 10.5 to 11 shoes depending on which brand. I sized up so I could wear a thick windbreaker sock in cold weather to cut off the venting, then in hot weather I wear thin socks and put in a dr. scholls foot bed in so the boot fits snug and I get the benefit of the perforation. That way I didn't have to buy 2 pairs of boots. Sounds crazy but it's worked for me. Jul 12, 2014

Vic A: Hi Jason. Based on one of the RevIlla videos, I ordered the Alpinestars SMX6 and Daniele TR Course Out. I tried on both and kept the Dainese and returned the Astars. The Astars were more comfy but ran a little big in size, especially the width. I did not like the giant Velcro panels - I thought they would be a pain to deal with. And the Dainese offers better ankle protection.

I mostly ride on the track. If I were to ride more on the street I would probably pick they Astars. They were super comfy.

Hope this helps.

Andrew H: Its about 2 inches wide by 4 inches - just an approximation. I use them daily with long socks and over pants. Between the zipper and the velcro these bad boys won't be coming loose any time soon. Jul 12, 2014

cory c: The velcro holds up great. Have not had a problem with them and idk if I have wide feet but they fit perfect. I wear a size eight and a half and went with a 9.Worth every penny Jul 13, 2014

craig w asked: I currently wear the smx-2 short boot and have never worn a full length boot. Can u still wear these under your pant or do you have to wear them on the outside? Jul 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kent H: If you are wearing a suit then no, they go on the outside. If you have loose/ relaxed for jeans, they'll fit on the inside but it'll look slightly bulky. Jul 14, 2014
Reply to Kent Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Levi B: No I wear them on the inside just fine. You look like a superhero if u don't lol Jul 14, 2014

Micah S: I just tested with my Dianese D1 jeans and it's not even close. Unless your pants are bell bottoms they probably won't fit over the SMX-6.

When I'm out riding I usually wear A* GP Pro leathers with these boots -- they're not really suited for everyday commuter wear.

Fedir P: It depends on pants. My riding pants have decent opening and I have no problem wearing them over boots. However, you can have certain problem with regular jeans (especially skinny ones) Jul 14, 2014

Samuel B: If you have really wide pant legs maybe, but in my experience the shin protection of the boot is too wide for most jeans to fit over. Jul 14, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi,i used to have alpinestars WEB gore tex in size 42 but it was a little small for my foot, what do you advise for Alpinestars SMX 6 Vented Boots 42or 43? Jul 24, 2014

marcio s: Hello , I wear a size 9 sneaker and I bought the corresponding size for the smx-6. They fit great and true to size. I got them for the track but I wear them on any ride now because of how comfortable they are. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for added street protection. Jul 24, 2014
Reply to marcio Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Tanner R: In bicycling shoes I wear a size 42.5. In street shoes (Adidas) I wear a size 9. I found that Alpinestars street boots like smx-1 and the smx-6 run a little big. I wear a size 42 (men's 8) in Alpinestars and I find it very comfortable. Jul 25, 2014

Chris L asked: I rtecently bought the SMX-6 and the bottom screws holding the multi-link tpu system came loose. which makes the extra protection from the multi-link pretty useless. does anyone else have this problem? or suggestions on how to screw it back in short of tearing the liner. they are brand new 270 dollar boots and I don't think i should have to do that. Feb 8, 2014

Brian K: Sorry to hear of your problem. I chose to return these boots as they seemed overpriced for the amount/lack of protection. Sounds like you have a legitimate warranty claim. Send them back for a replacement or refund. Feb 18, 2014
Reply to Brian Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
carlos m: Hi chris. This is exactly what happen to my boots after only the second time wearing them. I call revzilla and they will only tell you to call alpinestars, wich i did, and they told me to send the boots to them with a returned number they gave me. It's been only 1 week and haven't heard from them yet. Be prepared to be down another $20 to ship them back, they said they will see if they can be fix or they will send you new ones at no extra cost, wich i think is the less they can do because they should payback the $20 for sending their bad product back to them. Good luck and be patience my friend Feb 18, 2014

Lardy A: Hi Chris, I have used the boots only couple of times. So far so good. No problems. However, if I encounter a similar issue, I will let you know. Cheers! Feb 22, 2014

tsuyoshi t asked: I currently wear the SMX 2 short boot in a 39. Its tight but not uncomfortable. What size do you recommend in this boot? I am also looking at the SMX 6 and the SMX Plus in the closeout section. I do mainly road touring but I would like to try a track session. Jan 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Colin F: Im not sure how these compare to the SMX2 short boot but I have this boot in Euro size 44, which Alpinestars calls a 9.5 in US sizes. I generally wear a 10 -10.5 in most shoes/boots. Im still able to wear a thick pair of smart wool socks with them when I ride as well so I would say these run a little large, personally. The top of the boot is a little wide -possibly to accommodate the angle of your leg in the riding position but you can correct this somewhat by pulling closure tight. My knee/shin guards tuck in to them well also. Otherwise, they are very comfortable. Flow a lot of air. I found them to fit more comfortably than Sidi boots. Jan 29, 2014
Reply to Colin Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
John R: I normally wear a 44 and ordered the same size. The boot is roomy enough for thicker socks. This boot is very comfortable, but is really suited for the aggressive weekend warrior or occasional track day guy. Highly recommend. Jan 29, 2014

A shopper asked: Which would you pick between the Alpinestars SMX 6 Vented Boots and the Dainese TR-Course Out Air Boots and why? Dec 3, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David C: The Dianese's are beautiful. I mean it, I wanted to wear them all the time.lol Unfortunately I have wide feet and they put my heels to sleep. Sounds weird I know but they did. I love my SMX-6's. Super comfortable. Both offer great protection although I think the Dianese wins that contest for ankle protection and looks. If you have average width feet you'll love the TR's. To be honest it's mostly preference. Order them both and send back the pair you don't like. Dec 17, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kris Y: For me, I felt the sm-x 6 runs big. Meaning I normally wear an 8-8.5 and I ordered the 41 which is sized to be for a 7.5 . It fits good with thicker socks. Jul 24, 2014

A shopper asked: I presently wear a pair of SMX-1s in 43 and they're insanely comfortable. I was disappointed to find the SMX-5s are extremely narrow in the toe compared to the SMX-1s. I'm looking for the SMX-1 fit in a full shaft boot. Will the SMX-6s give me the room in the toe I need the SMX-5s lack? Dec 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David C: These (SMX-6) are my first pair of A-stars boots. I tried Dianese boots with the ankle control frame and found it squeezed my ankle and put my heels to sleep. Width at the ball of the foot was snug too. I tried TCX with the ankle control frame as well. Same result of them squeezing my ankle. The TCX did have a lot more width at the ball of the foot though and I would have kept them had it not been for the ankle. (my left ankle was damaged long ago and never healed right)
The SMX-6 is very very comfortable. I have wide feet and love them. You may also want to try TCX. Every TCX I've tried has fit perfect. (except the ankle thing I mentioned) I have TCX riding shoes and love them. I settled on the SMX6 for boots and I'm really happy.
You can always send them back. I did...many times, and Revzilla has been incredible with their service.
