This is an excellent boot for the price I was looking for a boot that was firmer in the footbed, offered great shin protection and was in the $300 price range. After 3 weeks of thorough searching and product reviews i decided on this one and it is awesome! I have been riding with these boots for a little over 2 weeks now, 4-5 days a week on the twisty side roads in the smoky mountains of NC and the performance is like night and day compared to my last boots. When I was ordering them the guy at revzilla more than suggested I should order a size down, and i was skeptical as I am on the larger size of 11 and have had to send boots back before to a different company. I decided to take his advice and when they came in they fit like a charm right out of the box. I also have a wider foot and still they were perfect. I ride hours at a time with no discomfort what so ever and could even see walking in them for a while. If you are looking for a boot that does excellent on the street as well as the track then look no further because this is the one! July 22, 2015
Great all round boot Just purchased a black pair in a size 45 (us 10.5). Great fit and very comfortable just like my old SMX5 that were renowned for being comfortable and I was glad to see they had not lost this in the new version of a great boot. They fit nice and firm, but not too tight and you can adjust the fit by the Velcro flaps that over the zip. The flexibility is great which makes gear changes easy and also finding the rear brake not difficult. They fit under my Kevlar jeans with no problems and look good. I would recommend these boots to anyone who wants a sport / sports touring boot without going the whole nine yards on a racing boot. May 11, 2015
Great boot, but runs large This is my first real street motorcycle boot, and I am impressed. I have had alpinestars motocross boots before, so I knew to get a size down. I wear 11.5 Nikes, I went with a 45 euro, and its still a little big. Fits with a thick sock on. The quality of these is very good, and the style looks awesome without being "too much". I wouldnt recommend walking around in them for too long, or taking them out for anything other than just riding, but they are comfortable enough that it could be done if necessary. I broke some bones in my foot, in a motorcycle crash 5 years ago, and absolutely obliterated the muscles/ligaments to the point where my whole foot was black and blue.. These boots give me confidence that my foot would be fine if that were to ever happen again. I wish i bought specific road boots years ago. April 27, 2015
Great boot! My shoe size is 12 medium. I purchased the SMX6 in size 46 (11.5) and the fit is perfect. The boot is very comfortable both on and off the bike. If I had to buy boots again, I wouldn't hesitate to get the SMX6. April 19, 2015
Great product! These Alpinestars boots are a great bang for the buck! Awesome styling and fit, especially for the price. April 1, 2015
Awesome boot This is my first boot, bought it for my first track day coming up, but I've used it with my suit to ride around and break everything in. I have a wide foot, size 11, sometimes 10.5, so I got the size 45. As far as fitting this boot fits spot on, it feels great on your foot, I rode in 90 degree weather and it didn't get too hot, I have the black/white non perforated version. I gave it a slight point down on fit because the only part of the boot I had problems with is the calf. My suit is a bit big on the calf so there's some loose leather, not much. The boot zips fine over it, a little snug, but the velcro is pretty tough to to get all the way across and Velcro on the top by the calf. I do have big calves, and the Velcro is adjustable, but still had trouble closing it. Other than that the boot does the job, still stiff so it needs some breaking in I'm sure. Definitely recommend! March 30, 2015
Great boot for the price! I needed a quality, budget friendly boot. I'd had A*Stars boots in the past, and was relatively confident that they would fit. As expected, the 43 fits me well. In US sized, I usually fall between an 8.5 and a 9, and am of average width. These boots are snug enough to feel secure, but not bindingly tight. The build quality is consistent with the A*Stars brand, which is to say, excellent quality for the price point, but falling slightly short of a more expensive (i.e. Sidi) boot. I expect to get at least 3-4 track seasons out of these, and am very pleased with my purchase. My only quibble is that, unless the finish hem on your pants or tracksuit is very flat, these only just barely close around the ankle. My track suit has a flat hem, and these close easily. My 2-piece has a padded hem, and these will close, but only just barely. Also, the bulky shin armor means that there is little chance that these will fit *under* jeans or other pants. They'll almost certainly have to go over them. March 23, 2015
Big calves, legs and ankles, READ THIS REVIEW I hope I can save you some time and frustration. I read other reviews and posts about the big calves subject on many other boots and talked to gear experts and even got a recommendation from a person with larger measurements than I have, and none of them worked. So here's a determined person's 2 cents. If none of the boots you are trying on will zip up, then look for a boot with a zipper on the inside of the leg. You can hide the fact that the boot is about to explode easier on the inside of your leg. A plus is that this boot hides the zipper behind some Velcro so any alterations you make will be hidden too. My intent was to take this boot to a cobbler and have them add more material where the zipper is stitched onto the boot. That would leave a lot of the Velcro showing and again, having it on the inside of the leg is easier to hide. Also, size up. It didn't matter that I'm exactly an 11 or a 45 euro in the foot bed, none of the others I tried were even close on the leg. My measurements are US shoe and boot size 11 ankle 11.5" calf 18.5" at 11.5" up from heel 16.25" Previous to this boot, I tried: Cortech Latigo RR perf. and non perf. size 11 and 12 Sidi ST size 45 Alpinestars SupertechR size 45 TCX R-S2 EVO size 45 (formerly Oxtar) This one was recommended from several sources and ended up being the tightest one. I got this boot in a 46, and to my surprise, I can actually zip it up and fit my track suit in there without having to do surgery on the zipper. There's some extra room in the toe box cause I went a size larger, but it's manageable and I can still feel the controls. It does look like it's going to explode at any moment and the tpu in the front is lined up around the 2 o'clock position instead of 12. It helps that there's a lot of Velcro. Having tried some of the high end boots, I do wish I could have made them work. The protection on this boot is a little flimsy compared, but I do think it's adequate and will work better than a lot of the gimmicky stuff. The lack of hardware on the inside of the leg is a big plus, because it's not clicking or snagging on my bike which would be a serious distraction. Comfort is surprising too, they are well padded and lined. I considered removing the padding and 'moisture wicking liner' from the leg area due to it's uselessness when you're tucking in leather race pants, but since they fit I'm leaving it in there. Comfort on the ankles/calves seems to be all about how well I keep the wrinkles in my track suit away from pressure points. I've worn them around the house as well as on a 50 mile ride and they were comfortable. I would have forgotten I had them on except for the squeaking:) The plastic support is the primary part that seems intended to help me keep from breaking my ankle. It allows a great deal of movement, so only a crash will tell. It is glued to the rear stretch panel for some reason, perhaps to keep it from moving forward. Also I noticed the toe box has a lot of flexibility, which is good for feel, but probably not so good for crush protection. Mine didn't come with the little Allen wrench for the sliders. Seems like that would be needed if they ever started to back out. I'll have to find one to put in my tool box. I noticed the replacement sliders come with it and are cheap, so I may just wait till I manage to get a toe down and get one that way. Back to sizing, I did notice that people's advise seemed to only pertain to the size and boot they were wearing. So if you're not a 45 or 46 euro, my info might be useless to you. Good luck:) it took me many tries, but these are so much better than riding shoes or the casual boots I was wearing. March 23, 2015

A shopper asked: How would you compare the SMX6 TO THE SMX5 in terms of off the bike / walking comfort? (Stiffness / mobility etc.) Aug 24, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (10) No (0)
David : I have worn both around the store and bought the SMX6, and I find the SMX6 is just much more comfortable. But not that stiff, once you break them in they tend to be really comfortable. They are a bit stiff, but definitely easy to walk around him. I wouldn't go for a long hike in them when you get off the bike. Apr 15, 2014

John R asked: Can you adjust them to fit snug around calf? I don't have a race suit so I would be wearing my Kevlar jeans over them and just wondering if they are loose or tight against the calf. Jan 17, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael H: Yeah, they are fairly adjustable. I mostly wear mine with jeans, and the Velcro on the sides has good amount to close or open depending on your leg size. These are very well designed/made you will be fine no matter what you wear them with. Jan 17, 2015
Reply to Michael Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Joseph P: If you mean to fit you're jeans inside, yes but a bit smug since the jeans have to fold a bit, but this is likely similar with all types of boots. Fitting jeans over the boots can work as long as your Kevlar jeans that aren't extemely narrow, I have a alpinestars Kevlar jeans and it s a struggle fitting them over so I tuck them inside or wear leathers when using these boots. Charles D W: The black and red are great.

Mine have held up well and I use mine daily. Not sure how the white would have held up in the same situation but it would probably depend on how often you wear them or perhaps if you were buying them to match some other gear that you already had.

Aleksey K asked: I'm having difficulty deciding between perf and nonperf. I would like an almost all year shoe. Does this mean I should go with nonperf to withstand the colder days and possibly an occasional rain? I reside in Florida now but expect a move to St. Louis, hope that helps understand the temperature ranges I am referring to. Mar 25, 2014

Joshua G: It all depends on you. How often you will ride in rain or cold weather. I don't know anything about the climate in St. Louis, but I bought the pref ones because it's mostly hot here much like Florida. And when it does get cold I just layer up with extra socks. Again it all depends if riding is your main form of transportation and getting wet, then I would consider getting the non-prefs. Mar 25, 2014
Reply to Joshua Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Bobak R: Hey Aleksy,

I live in southern California where the weather is on the warmer side and have not had any issues with the non-perforated boots being too warm. They are quite comfortable and given the fact that you plan on riding year round, I think it makes more sense to buy the non-perforated boots. I hope this helps.

Cedric F: Hi, I went with the nonperf boot, and I live in San Diego. It is usually pretty warm all year here. I bought my boots in November during the colder months, and just switch out socks I wear. I hope that helps with your decision. I love the boots, and this is my 3 set of Alpinestars boot, and the best yet. Great design, and great comfort. Mar 25, 2014

Tulio Enrique T: Bad choice, because it is a very bad product, after 3 months of use has dropped it a screw ankle protector and the problem is not in placing back, the problem was that I had to break the inner liner of the boot to get on and replacing. Mar 25, 2014

A shopper asked: I've just bought a size 43. They feel very tight. My toes aren't curled but they are (just) touching the end of the boot. Do you think the boots will loosen a little or should I look at changing to a bigger size? Sep 18, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael M: Mine have not loosened at all since I bought them, from what I can tell. I bought them slightly large, though, to put in better footbeds, while leaving a little room for thicker socks for colder weather.

I love the boots. Easy on and off, feel like slippers, and look good, of course.

A shopper asked: Are this boots waterproff?? Hi, live in a zone that rains alot, and some times i get 1 or 2 hours of rain when riding, are this boots capable of keeping my foot dry? May 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tony S: Sounds like you live near me lately... Yes as advertised they are waterproof. I got caught on Saturday in the rain and my feet did not get wet at all and during stops my feet did not slip. Just make sure you wear your waterproof pants on the outside of these boots. May 12, 2014

Dean C: If you are really worried about rain then go with something goretex. These boots aren't waterproof but do a good job at keeping your feet dry in normal rain conditions but they aren't really designed for extremes. May 12, 2014

Kaylin H: I dont know about thoughs pants but i have the avg willow raceing pants and i got the same size boots as i wear shoe and the top of the boots fit just fine over the pants the boots give plenty of room with the pants on and they fit just as well with out the pants. They boots are a little stif new but they break in really fast they are a great race and street boot i wouldnt go with a cheaper boot to save money its worth the cash to be comfy for hours on end. Feb 13, 2014

Kyle S: With the material the A10 airflo is made of it might actually fit. However, I can never get mine to fully fasten around my full piece leather suit, and I don't have the shin pads underneath. It will fasten, and the velcro will hold it in place. Unfortunately, I don't think your going to get the boot to fully fasten so you don't see any of the velcro. Feb 13, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tony S: I would say yes, I am a US 10 and the 45 fit perfectly. I looked at the SMX1 but no protection on the shins and I needed it one time and these boots did the job. I went to their store in Philly and tried on 10 different boots and this was the best fit and I have a wide foot. (: Aug 19, 2014

octavian g: I am not sure bc I never own a SMX1 BUT I can tell you that I take a size 10 regular shoes and I order the same size. they fit like a glove and extremely comfortable. When we go riding I do not change my shoes and been keeping them on the entire day. Aug 19, 2014

Josh R: I wear a size 13 and I bought a size 48 euro which is a 12.5 American and they are big on me but not uncomfortable or irritating. I probably could have gone another half to full size down (American) and they probably would have still fit. I was too lazy to return them and still wear them with out issue but if you do have a problem the crew at revzilla have always been more then accommodating if i had questions or concerns and their return policy is second to none. Michael M: No GoreTex, just plain leather and plastic armor. I've been riding with them in 85+ degree weather lately without my feet roasting, and am glad I didn't get the vented boots because they'll be 3 or 4 season boots for me. Very comfy, like slippers, although I would like a little stiffer forefoot when shifting. Jun 18, 2014
