Comfortable and true to fit. Good airflow for summer riding. I have not needed the protection, but the knuckleguards and leather seem sturdy. I have worn them for about 5000 miles now and they are still in good shape.
I have two small complaints: 1) The velcro tab around the wrist could be longer... someone with thick wrists may not like them. 2) the mesh on the fingers gets fuzzy fast after touching velcro.

Really nice looking glove. I would place it more to spring type than summer due to fact that it's made mainly of neoprene so airflow is not so good. Don't get me wrong, it's really comfortable glove but I doubt it will be so cozy during mid summer in the city traffic. Only "minus" is the wrist strap. It's just too short. I ware size L, glove fit's perfectly but strap is just to short and barely locks around my wrist. Regarding protection, I guess that considering material and usage that it's meant for is just OK.

I bought gloves originally as I'm a new rider and I wanted to have a better grip when riding. They did the trick. The gloves are spot on for size and comfort and fit my hand perfectly (the sizing charts are great).
I am, however, slightly concerned with the durability with these. The inside on the palm is some material that looks like it's slowly starting to scrape off, and it's only been a little over a week since owning these. This is the only "problem" I would even think of though currently.

Before I bought these, I used the previous model (SMX1) and I have to say I used them every single day until the holes on the palm were way too big. Said surface has changed, and now there's less leather and less seams. The extra tissue that allows to grab the glove in order to pull it down without damaging the seaming is quite smart. However, the micro velcro doesn't seem to keep up with the tension of the rubber counterpart, making it easy to get it opened involuntarily. Furthermore, the material above the fingers tends to get stuck with the velcro, therefore making it difficult to strap without tearing off the fingers' surface.
Great looks, perfect fit (feels like a second skin), and a great price. No wonder it's part of the ZLA 11.

The only down side i had on these are that the XL fits quite snug and also the velcro pulls strands of fabric from the fingers, kind of giving them a frayed look. Other than that great gloves! Love the outer seam knuckles as well as the breathability!

These glove look amazing and fit very comfortably. No seams sticking out and bothering your fingers. They flow a lot of air and i have yet to get sweaty or hot hands. And thats saying a lot in the 90-100+ arizona sun. Great buy overall. However my warning to buyers is that the glove fits a little on the small size. Of course it fits like skin and will stretch a little to mold to your hands, but the fingers in mine were a little short. If inbetween measurements for sizing, go with the larger one. Also, as others mentioned, the mesh will stick to velcro easily so you have to be aware not to fray them. P.S. IMO The green ones look sick with kawasaki's.

These gloves do the job and do it very well. The only flaw I can find is that the tips of the fingers can snag on the velcro, however this is easily remedied by taking an extra few seconds and avoiding touching the velcro when putting them on, its not rocket surgery. Can't go wrong with real carbon fiber knuckles. No seam rubbing on the tips of my fingers like so many other gloves I tried. These just seemed to fit me from the start, little to no break in period. Great summer glove, I'm curious to see how they'll do in the cooler months. Also, they look sick in red.

How do these two compare? I'm looking for a pair of street riding gloves but I have long and narrow fingers (8.5" around knuckles, but 8.25" from wrist crease to tip of middle finger). I tried on the FL1 in an XL and liked the length, but was a little wider than ideal for my hand. Is the AStars a good alternative?

No .. you will find them too snug. The Alpinestars aren't for those with ... ummmm ... plump hands. I highly suggest you look at something in the Held glove line since they offer you greater variety of sizing options, including a "Long" option for those with long fingers.
