Great riding shoe for the money I love these riding shoes. I really don't think you can get anything better for the price. They are comfortable enough to wear all day at work. The have great air flow. The only think that sucks is when I get caught in a rain storm, but these are not waterproof and are designed for air flow. May 14, 2013
Nice boots, perfect condition Great boots for a race biker. Good ventilation and confortable May 13, 2013
Nice boot, good price! After reading countless reviews, people saying the boots ran large, decided to go with a size 45.(I wear a 45/45.5).Mistake....the boots were tight.I think they run a little narrow in the footbed and if you have a wide foot its best to go up a half size .Returned for a size 46 and the boots felt very comfortable right out of the box.Alpinestars put out great products and look forward trying these new boots out. May 9, 2013
Comfortable Protection I don't have too much experience with moto boots as this is my first pair, but they fit fine (I ordered one size smaller per most reviewers) and they are super easy to put on and off. Pretty comfortable to walk around in as well when you're off the bike. May 8, 2013
Comfortable, not the most protective The boots are very comfortable. The strap over the top of the foot really doesn't do any tightening, it seems to be mostly for appearance. The front and back of the leg area are sort of cut out, which allows your leg to rotate further front into the boot while in sport riding position, which is great. I was hoping they'd be more protective, though. No ankle support. The only real protection is heel. No real "steel toe" effect. May 7, 2013
Great boot This shoe is great because its not a full boot but still gives you great protection. The hard plastic near the toe for the shift lever makes shifting simple and easy. My only complaint is they do run big so don't buy up a size like the video says. I wear a nine and I ended up with an 8 1/2 after sending it back twice. (30$ in shipping later). Great product tho. They stretch a small amount too. So very comfortable. May 6, 2013
Great, understated riding boot These are extremely comfortable with good flexibility and great airflow. I like them because they are all black and understated. May 6, 2013
This boot fits great, feels like i have shoes on, i would buy again!!! The S-MX1 boots are GREAT!!!!!! I love them, they feel great like i have my nike's on!!!! And for the price you cant go wrong! If you don't try them you will never know what your missing... I love them and when theses ever were out, i will buy them again!!!!! Thank you REVZILLA!!! Donnie Thomas Hartford City IN. I wear a size 16 tennis shoe (Vans to be specific) and am having a hard time finding riding shoes that will fit me. I was told these and the MX2 model run a bit larger than normal shoe sizes. Will the Euro size 50 fit?

Answer:
The shoes run about 1 Euro size larger, so where i usually fit 43 pretty snugly (actually i look for 43.5 where possible) these 43 are more like rev'it 44.
another thing is that if your feet arent too wide- you could possibly unlace them all the way to make them even looser.

all in all- nothing beats trying them on!

Answer:
If the boot is facing you, pull the slider towards you where it says "pull." After that all you have to do is slide the piece to the side and it should come off no problem. Keep in mind that the pulling portion takes a little bit of elbow grease.

Answer:
I wear 11 comfortably and 10.5 with some pressure on the toes in most Nike shoes ... I got the SMX-1 size 10.5 US (45 EU) and they feel great. I put em on and walked around in them all day and no discomfort at all. I tend to think my foot is a little wider than normal, so I was worried if that would be an issue with the SMX-1, but it was a perfect fit. Plus they do wear in a little bit...so walk around in them for like an hour and see how you like them... So iin your case, go for the 12.5US (48EU)...if not you can always exchange them... Good luck.

I have a wide foot also and have no problem with this boot, they fit great. As for size, you'll probably need a 47 (if you're usually a 48).

Answer:
I bought the 46 (11.5) even though i usually where a 12-12.5 depending of the type of shoe. They fit snug in the wide area of the foot at first but broke in nicely. and are a little loose at the top of the boot. i'd say go with the 48 (12.5) and if they are just way too tight and you don't think they'd break in enough for your foot send em back for the 49 (13.5) and run a little loose. Just don't wear them outside or on the bike and leave the tags on. Walk around the house a bit to get a feel for them. like they say they do the first exchange/return for free. Hope this helps

Answer:
Width should not be a problem, my foot is kinda wide and mine fit fine. The general rule for sizing is to find your size on the Euro/American transition chart and get a size smaller, I did it and mine fit perfectly. I strongly recommend these boots, comfortable and lots of great features. They look really cool too (not important for most but looking dorky ain't cool!)

Answer:
There is no hard shin protection on this low-cut boot. On the ankle bone, there is an External TPU "hard" protector. If you are looking for better protection, we recommend taking a look at the Alpinestars S-MX 5 Boot or the Alpinestars S-MX R Boots.

Answer:
Not too much lower shin protection, however it will definitely be better than a sneaker. Its more like a construction boot level of protection but a lot more comfortable and lightweight....Ankle protection is pretty good, I mean if you take a fall in these guys in will definitely be better than in sneakers or boots...
I feel safe when I ride in these and the comfort is great.

No for the shins and no for the ankle, just the TPU piece on the outer ankle. only real "Hard" protection is the heel cup, toe slider and the stiff sole of the boot.

Mesh up the front to the top where the velcro secure strap is. There is a hard ankle protector and removable/replaceable toe slide. There is also hard heel protection on the rear of the boot. Great boots, I wish I had bought them a long time ago!

I am looking for something to use as a daily ride so do not want a full length boot. I also want something that will be tall enough to tuck my leathers into during recreational track days. Will the S-MX1 boot be tall enough to tuck leathers into or would I need to go to the taller S-MX2?

Answer:
The SMX-1 and SMX-2 are pretty short and there might not enough material above the ankle to really tuck in leathers or pants. We'd suggest a higher boot for race leathers.

About the same hight as a regular hiking boot, leathers probably won't stay tucked, but they would be good as an every day rider. I wear running socks with them for more padding when I know I'm going to have them for long periods of time.
