Great Jacket for Mildy Cold Weather
This is a good, quality jacket that is good for anything under 60ºF and I haven't had a chance to test is out in anything under 40º yet. Good wind protection and surprisingly warm for the thickness. The padding is thin the elbow pads seem like they may be a bit off on placement. My only other complaint is lack of visibility. No reflective piping or reflective panels anywhere. I'm not sure how safe I would feel at night in this jacket but other than that, overall I'm very pleased.

Nice around town, very stealthy
Great jacket, good fit/finish, it only has padding, not armor so it's really only meant for low-speed use. The shell fabric is smart looking and won't look ratty after a few washes. The interior fleece is comfy but the jacket still breathes nicely. The extended back is good for keeping out drafts while leaned forward (sportbike) but it's not so long that you notice it while walkin around.

I think they did a good job with this one, it's totally stealth except for a few tiny (very tiny)accents on the cuffs, neck, arm that are so small only someone familiar with the brand would know it's a riding jacket.

Very well done, riding buddies who have seen it WANT it.

Only reason I gave a 4-star is because they left out a back pad which seems to be in every jacket on the market.

This jacket fits the "better than nothing" and "stealth" requirements perfectly for people who would prefer to wear full gear at times it's inconvenient or too showy for the destination.

This fleece jacket is great. Fits perfect and looks good.
I have gotten a few comments from my riding buddies about this jack. It looks great and is perfect for all seasons I think. Excellent product.

Thanks for the great video about this jacket. The video helped me to make my decision to purchase it.

My everyday commute jacket
A very comfortable jacket which I use almost every time I commute in Perth's winter. It's a definite wind stopper and it's even kept me dry after riding in a light rain for about 20 minutes.

Looks like an everyday jacket and will not scream, 'biker!', while offering better-than-nothing protection.

I've used this between 12-25 degrees Celsius in Perth's winter.

Stylish and Comfortable
Really happy with this jacket.

This jacket is hands down the comfiest piece of riding gear I've ever tried on (on par with my kevlar jeans). It keeps you nice and toasty on cold / windy rides, and when the weather gets warmer you can just unzip the jacket a bit and let the breeze flow through the whole jacket.

True to the description, this jacket is waterproof, and if you have the zipper done all the way up it's completely windproof too. However on windy days I highly recommend riding without the hood; when a big gust of wind hits your hood you can really feel it pulling you away with the wind!

I'm not a big fan of looking like I stepped off a race track and this jacket is exactly what I've been looking for. I can literally wear it with a normal outfit and it doesn't look out of place. The only people who would realise it's a riding jacket are other riders, and that's only because of the Alpinestars logo.

The size is pretty accurate for me, I'm 5'10 195 lbs and I rock an XL, fits just like any of my other jackets. What I love is how this jacket hangs lower than other jackets which in my opinion generally sit too high.

Good jacket for more than just riding.
I like this thing as much as an all-around jacket than just a piece of riding gear.

For riding, it is a good commuter or light riding jacket. Rode to work one colder morning and I could barely feel any wind even at highway speed. While it was good for the morning, it did come back to bite me in the afternoon when the temperature spiked unexpectedly. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Bio Armor shoulder and elbow pads. There isn't a pocket for a back protector, but if you want to wear a stand-alone one, I had enough room to do so.

I also take the armor out to wear this thing as casual cold weather coat. I get a lot of compliments on it and people don't even know it's a bike jacket until I tell them.

Great product!
This jacket is awesome! It does allow very little air flow there for the 2 rating. I got a size up from the recommended size from alpinestars therefore do not find it too small. I am 6 feet 176 pounds and I'm wearing a large. But I think it would fit fine if I got a medium instead. Overall it's a great jacket for city riding. I wouldnt wear it on the freeway.

It's a very nice jacket. I have it for about 2 years now.

- good style
- waterproof, wind resistant

Cons:
- not meant for high speed riding, very limited protection
- armors doesn't fit well, especially shoulders. not so comfortable
- no back pocket for armor

Nice lightweight and comfortable jacket
I weigh 155 lbs and I am 6'1" and got the size medium fits perfect. Good for the hot summers, and can easily be worn around town when off the bike. Not the most protection but that is not what it was designed for. I bought the Astars bionic armor inserts for it size small because size large didn't want to fit. Slightly better protection and is still comfortable. I Have been wearing it all summer!

I picked this out in the hopes of getting some mild protection (wind, water and scrapes:/) for around town riding. I have a vanson leather jacket for longer distances but am looking to replace that soon, as the fit is wrong. Ive changed the jacket is fine. also have picked up other various items from you guys and have been overly impressed with the process/experience every time i have ordered anything. Looking forward to how this one works out. Ill get back on how it all goes..

How cold weather ready is this jacket? While I do not ride in 30 or lower temps, I do find myself in 40's temps.
A shopper on Oct 5, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I ride in cold (upper 40's - lower 50's) foggy coastal weather almost everyday, and I'm always warm and dry when I get to work. I have a few Alpinestars jackets and this one is my favorite. I can add/remove the CE protectors when I want, and I like that the hood is removable. I really like the extra length in the back, and the materials are great.
The only possible downside I could mention in regards to warmth is the wrist cuffs are large and do not tighten. This lets in a breeze. Other side of that coin is the breeze is nice in summer. Or you could wear a glove with a wrist skirt.
I wear this jacket year round and I'm never bummed. Hope they never stop making it. Great buy, great price.
hi there may i please ask whats the fabric composition of this jacket? cheers
A S on Jan 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Its 72% polyester and 28% polyurethane. Its exactly like a northface jacket but with motorcycle protection areas
is there any inside pockets?
Blake S on Aug 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 2 none zippered (velcro tab) pockets. Big enough for a phone or a wallet
If i fall off and slide wont this just straight away rip through and cut my clothes and skin? i was planning to get armour upgrades but its about the fabric.
A shopper on Oct 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I love this jacket. I can't say that the jacket won't rip through if you fall, it really depends on how you fall. If you looking for the protection in the event you hit the pavement, I would consider getting the armor upgrade. I usually wear this jacket under my leather since I do a lot of riding during the winter months as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground.

I will say that I think you will really love this jacket, it's perfect for riding on a really nice fall day. It's warm and protects you from the wind.

You can always return it if you find it's not what you are looking for.

Hope this information help :)
Happy Riding!!!
Can this fit underneath a icon 100 chapter jacket?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Theoretically one could use this jacket as a base layer, but its not ideal for this as it's not very thin. With that said, this jacket was designed to allow the rider to commute around town without having to throw on a full motorcycle jacket, hence why it is part of the City Collection. Also, you can replace the foam padding with the CE certified Bio Armor to make this more suitable for street use. We would recommend using a true base/mid layer instead of this jacket as we feel that ultimately the rider would be more comfortable with a purpose built base/mid layer.

http://www.revzilla.com/base-layers
I have a REV'IT! Airwave Jacket and was wondering if I could remove the shoulder and elbow pads from there and put them in this jacket during colder months.
A shopper on Aug 12, 2012
BEST ANSWER: No, the Knox Flexiform Armor found in the shoulders and elbows of the REV'IT! Airwave jacket will not fit in the pockets for the Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece Jacket.

We would recommend Alpinestars Bio-Armor to upgrade the foam shoulder and elbow pads which come stock in the Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece Jacket.
Does it have a pocket for the armor in the back? How would it be to ride in it in summer?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece jacket does not have a pocket for back armor. It might be too warm for summer use in most climates, as there are no vents and it's intended use is for cooler temperatures.
