Great Buy Awesome jacket. I chose this as my first riding jacket. The comfort is amazing and the style is great. I blend into the crowd when I step off my bike for awhile. I'm 6' tall and weigh in at 155lbs, I ordered the Medium, and upgraded to the bio armor in size Large for added protection. They were a bit of a pain to insert into the jacket but eventually they squeezed in. Love this product, only thing I really wish it had would be a back protector insert. oh well. November 14, 2014
Good commute jacket I'm 6' 200LBS and got an XL. Its a little big on me but that's what I wanted so I could layer up if needed. This jacket is well made and looks great. Used it today when it was 50 degrees in the morning and 96 degrees by the afternoon. Gotta love Mojave dessert weather. Zipped all the way the jacket kept me plenty warm in the morning ride to work. Zipped to the bottom of my chest it actually allowed a good amount of air in to keep me coolish on the ride home. Zippers are a little small for glove use but you can still use them. As for protection it would prolly not be great at highway speeds but in town commute it would be just fine. Being able to take the hood off is a nice feature. Overall I am extremely happy with this jacket. Ride a 2013 GSXR 1000 September 5, 2014
Perfect for conditions Completely waterproof, wind resistant, and comfortable. I find you get plenty of air through the bottom, which is annoying on cold days. Overall I like this jacket. Does what it's suppose to do. February 10, 2014
Great Jacket for Mildy Cold Weather This is a good, quality jacket that is good for anything under 60ºF and I haven't had a chance to test is out in anything under 40º yet. Good wind protection and surprisingly warm for the thickness. The padding is thin the elbow pads seem like they may be a bit off on placement. My only other complaint is lack of visibility. No reflective piping or reflective panels anywhere. I'm not sure how safe I would feel at night in this jacket but other than that, overall I'm very pleased. January 11, 2014
Stylish and Comfortable Really happy with this jacket. This jacket is hands down the comfiest piece of riding gear I've ever tried on (on par with my kevlar jeans). It keeps you nice and toasty on cold / windy rides, and when the weather gets warmer you can just unzip the jacket a bit and let the breeze flow through the whole jacket. True to the description, this jacket is waterproof, and if you have the zipper done all the way up it's completely windproof too. However on windy days I highly recommend riding without the hood; when a big gust of wind hits your hood you can really feel it pulling you away with the wind! I'm not a big fan of looking like I stepped off a race track and this jacket is exactly what I've been looking for. I can literally wear it with a normal outfit and it doesn't look out of place. The only people who would realise it's a riding jacket are other riders, and that's only because of the Alpinestars logo. The size is pretty accurate for me, I'm 5'10 195 lbs and I rock an XL, fits just like any of my other jackets. What I love is how this jacket hangs lower than other jackets which in my opinion generally sit too high. October 21, 2013
nice jacket I purchase in the summer, it fits and feels good. I will wait until the fall /winter to give the final note on this product it looks like its going to a 10. July 22, 2013
This fleece jacket is great. Fits perfect and looks good. I have gotten a few comments from my riding buddies about this jack. It looks great and is perfect for all seasons I think. Excellent product. Thanks for the great video about this jacket. The video helped me to make my decision to purchase it. May 27, 2013
Good jacket for more than just riding. I like this thing as much as an all-around jacket than just a piece of riding gear. For riding, it is a good commuter or light riding jacket. Rode to work one colder morning and I could barely feel any wind even at highway speed. While it was good for the morning, it did come back to bite me in the afternoon when the temperature spiked unexpectedly. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Bio Armor shoulder and elbow pads. There isn't a pocket for a back protector, but if you want to wear a stand-alone one, I had enough room to do so. I also take the armor out to wear this thing as casual cold weather coat. I get a lot of compliments on it and people don't even know it's a bike jacket until I tell them. May 11, 2013

A shopper asked: How cold weather ready is this jacket? While I do not ride in 30 or lower temps, I do find myself in 40's temps. Oct 5, 2013

Chris C: I ride in cold (upper 40's - lower 50's) foggy coastal weather almost everyday, and I'm always warm and dry when I get to work. I have a few Alpinestars jackets and this one is my favorite. I can add/remove the CE protectors when I want, and I like that the hood is removable. I really like the extra length in the back, and the materials are great.
The only possible downside I could mention in regards to warmth is the wrist cuffs are large and do not tighten. This lets in a breeze. Other side of that coin is the breeze is nice in summer. Or you could wear a glove with a wrist skirt.
I wear this jacket year round and I'm never bummed. Hope they never stop making it. Great buy, great price.

A S: hi there may i please ask whats the fabric composition of this jacket? cheers Jan 11, 2014
Renato V: today i rode to work at highway speeds. the low this morning was 48. the fleece breaks the wind pretty well plus with a hanes first layer under my t-shirt i was pretty warm. this thing is surprisingly warm given how thin it is. does a way better job than a regular cotton hoodie under a textile jacket. Jerome M: I recommend wearing at least a thermal or sweater underneath but that's it. Obviously air /wind will find its way in but obviously that's to keep your body cool but warm at the same time. What I like best about the jacket is that it zips up past the neck protecting it and keeping it warm. Oct 8, 2013

chris m: Not that cold weather ready. I have worn it in 30's but with a sweatshirt and under armor. On its own with only a t-shirt low 50's, high 40's short trips only. Also I would recommend long gloves at speed the air will come in at the cuff. In all still a great jacket. Oct 8, 2013

Jeffrey B: This jacket is a great wind breaker. It is comfortable in temps from 45-75 degrees. Colder temps require a good base layer. I have been wearing it in 30 degree temps with a good fleece layer underneath. Nov 7, 2013

ANDRES C: Its more of a fall jacket than a winter one, I think low 50s high 40s is the breaking point, you would need a warmer jacket depending on your tolerance and wind protection on your bike. Oct 8, 2013

Daniel B: This is an excellent, comfortable jacket. A realistic temperature range for use (without a top layer over it) is probably 45-65 degrees. Oct 8, 2013

A shopper asked: If i fall off and slide wont this just straight away rip through and cut my clothes and skin? i was planning to get armour upgrades but its about the fabric. Oct 16, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeffrey M: I love this jacket. I can't say that the jacket won't rip through if you fall, it really depends on how you fall. If you looking for the protection in the event you hit the pavement, I would consider getting the armor upgrade. I usually wear this jacket under my leather since I do a lot of riding during the winter months as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground.

I will say that I think you will really love this jacket, it's perfect for riding on a really nice fall day. It's warm and protects you from the wind.

You can always return it if you find it's not what you are looking for.

Hope this information help :)
Happy Riding!!!

A shopper asked: Can this fit underneath a icon 100 chapter jacket? Sep 21, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Theoretically one could use this jacket as a base layer, but its not ideal for this as it's not very thin. With that said, this jacket was designed to allow the rider to commute around town without having to throw on a full motorcycle jacket, hence why it is part of the City Collection. Also, you can replace the foam padding with the CE certified Bio Armor to make this more suitable for street use. We would recommend using a true base/mid layer instead of this jacket as we feel that ultimately the rider would be more comfortable with a purpose built base/mid layer.

A shopper asked: I have a REV'IT! Airwave Jacket and was wondering if I could remove the shoulder and elbow pads from there and put them in this jacket during colder months. Aug 12, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: No, the Knox Flexiform Armor found in the shoulders and elbows of the REV'IT! Airwave jacket will not fit in the pockets for the Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece Jacket.

We would recommend Alpinestars Bio-Armor to upgrade the foam shoulder and elbow pads which come stock in the Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece Jacket.

A shopper asked: Does it have a pocket for the armor in the back? How would it be to ride in it in summer? Oct 10, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
AliB: The Alpinestars Northshore Tech Fleece jacket does not have a pocket for back armor. It might be too warm for summer use in most climates, as there are no vents and it's intended use is for cooler temperatures. Oct 27, 2011
