Left my hands aching like crazy I bought these AlpineStars GPX gloves to replace a worn-out pair of the old Terminator-style Icon gloves. On my first day of riding with the AlpineStars, ~300 miles, my palms ached like crazy, especially the area at the base of the thumb. The AlpineStars have zero padding in the thumb base area. Just single density of relatively thin leather – or actually goatskin, I believe, according to Revzilla's video review. Checked my other gloves and each has some degree of padding or double leather in that area. My hands were literally screaming with pain by the end of the first ride with the AlpineStars, and the ache persisted for days before it finally disappeared. On subsequent rides I adjusted my hand position slightly to mitigate the pressure between handlebar and palm / thumb base. That was some help, but not a long-term solution. I’m in the market for replacement gloves for the 2015 riding season. The GPX gloves also don’t offer hard protection on outside of the knuckles and thumb, but rather TPU. I knew that when I bought them but ended up wishing for stouter protection in those areas. That said, the quality of the leather / goatskin is very nice. The GPX gloves are well made and comfortable and stay cool on a hot summer day. They are good for around town or a quick ride of less than 50 miles, but for me not suited for rides of any duration, and certainly not for touring for a few weeks. February 6, 2015
Great summer glove I ride a sport bike and find the full track day gloves are a little hot when street riding. These shorter gloves are excellent and very happy so far with the overall fit and wear. Safe riding. December 1, 2014
Good Glove for the Money This GPX glove fits me really well. I have smallish fingers and wrists and a large works well, true to Alpinestars euro fit. Protection is good for a mid level leather glove. Great for daily street riding. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I had a pair of Alpinestars SP-X gloves that I gave to a friend and bought these for replacement. The SP-X is thirty dollars cheaper and I'm not really sure this glove is thirty dollars better. The SP-X actually has a better, thicker wrist pad. These do fit me slightly better. Still a great glove at this price point. Like all Alpinestars gear, it is very well made; right amount of pre-curve and articulation at fingers and knuckles. I feel like anything better is in the $200 and up range. Whatever your choice, buy it here. I've used 'em all, and Revzilla has the best selection, price, customer service, shipping/return policy, and reviews. Even if Anthony never changes his shirt! ;-) November 24, 2014
Great gloves, nice look, worth it I just started riding this past spring, i have ridden with these on in weather as cold as 40 degrees and as high as 80+...they are worth it. They are not warm enough for fall and early spring because of the amount of airflow, but none the less these are good gloves. I had to lay my bike down in the summer after a lady brake checked me, it was early morning and the ground was still wet, these gloves held up perfectly. Aside for some small scuffs on the palm, the did exactly what there were meant to do. I would not hesitate to buy another pair of these once these have run their course. November 20, 2014
Great street gloves Gloves are great for the street. Perfect length to pair with sport style leather jackets. Just wish there was a seamless fingertip design. That seam sometimes digs in between your fingernail tips. November 17, 2014
Good product for the price I read mixed reviews on this glove, but I have found it to be of good quality and function. The fit was possibly on the slightly small side and I ordered an XL, but I vary between L and XL in different brands, so it wasn't overly small (it will also likely break in more with further wear). Having put over 500 miles on them in very little time, I can say that they required little break in for comfort. I also like the open slots behind the knuckle armor, which proved very useful for holding toll money. In summary, while there are probably better quality gloves out there, I think that these are very good gloves for short or long rides for a reasonable price. November 10, 2014
Excellent Glove These fit a little small. If you are a large, I recommend an XL. Had to exchange for 2 size up. Very comfortable and well designed glove. I replaced these with defective SPIDI gloves that didn't even last 3 months. Lots of leather and protection. Worth the extra bucks. The lowest common denominator is never the highest standard. great gloves Rode all summer with these gloves, perfect for 70 deg. and up. October 20, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Andrey S: Love short gloves, best brand, good protection, hope these will be comfortable for long distance riding in all seasons. Feb 12, 2015
Howard B: The GPX gloves have worked well for me. I purchased another set since the first set was a little snug. According to the size chart I should have been a large, but I usually wear XL gloves. I ordered both on the recommendation of the Revzilla staff that I spoke to. The XL fit better than the large so I kept those. However, I have large hands and I found that the XL was a bit tight and hard to get on my right hand particularly. Ordered to 2SL to solve that problem. Great Glove otherwise. Jan 22, 2015
Scott L: Because of their great looks and protective features...they're awesome! Jan 5, 2015

Carlos R: anthony's review on them. Jul 6, 2014
Abdulla A: Looks great, price seemed good enough (specially with 10$ in revzilla cash I had!) leather with perforation, palm slider which is a must IMO, and of course good reviews, hopefully I'll review it when I use it enough to have a solid opinion, but up till now it's been great Jun 26, 2014

John W: great gloves May 27, 2014
john s: the 3-4 finger bridge and alpinestar reputation May 11, 2014
Daniel C: I have always been a fan of A*, the quality of their products are incredible. Its the only gear I wear when racing motocross. I am slowly getting all of the gear I need to take the MSF course so I can finally get the bike I have had my eye on for quite some time now.. Cant wait to make the transition from 14 years of riding on the dirt to the street. May 10, 2014
Joshua J: protection and cost looked like a good fit for what I wanted and needed. May 3, 2014
Michael C: the purchase of these gloves was because I read many reviews and I read nothing but good things so why not try them out, plus I like the extra padding going up to the wrist. Apr 10, 2014
Nnamdi N: I like the look and it looks like it will protect well. Mar 27, 2014
Carl W: Bought these gloves for ADV / dual-sport riding. Wanted something that would provide good protection in the event of a highway spill, but also a good performer for trail riding. These gloves do well at both. Feb 14, 2014
Matthew O: I own a pair of SMX 2 gloves and they flow a lot of air and are a great summer glove. I wanted to step up the protection level this season and I really like Alpinestars quality and style. These gloves are just what I'm looking for. Feb 14, 2014

DeAndre B: I don't know anything about the sp-x.. But I can tell you that the gpx flows great air n has good protection where it's needed. . The air flow so good that my hands hardly sweat at all.. Dec 20, 2013

Derek J: I've never had any airflow problems, not even during 100*+ CA summers. A little bit of fraying from use, but they're still really well-made, lightweight, protective gloves. Dec 20, 2013

A shopper asked: How is the fit on these gloves? im 6 feet tall and weigh 160 lbs,my hand measurement was 3 5/8", but i have heard that these gloves fit rather small and I should order one size up, is this true?

Jorge C: I am 5'7" and weight 185. I have average hands. Not small or big just average in my opinion. I owned two leather alpine gloves and after the break in period the medium was perfect for me. So when I order the gpx I stuck with medium. My hand measures 3 1/2". If you have fat fingers or long ones maybe a large would be better. If you have a motorcycle store around your city, they usually carry some alpine gloves and you can go and try different sizes before ordering. I recommen the gpx awesome gloves and very comfortable. Jon R: My hands have similar measurements to yours and I ordered a Large (normally, I'm a Medium or kind of in between Medium and Large). As others have pointed out, these are known to run slightly small (if I remember right, it is mentioned in the review video as being a common trait of A-stars gloves), and this is what prompted me to go ahead and get the Large. They fit well. Feb 25, 2014

Ricardo L R Barros R: Yes, my last Dainese gloves for example were XL and this one I had to buy XXL.

And It fits a little bit tight.

Dainese it is definately the best brand for me and my type of body.

I am 6,3, 220 and my hand it is 3,5

Rob H: I'm 5'8 145 I've always been a medium glove size in all my gear so I got a L but I think they're a little tight I should've gotten the XL. Otherwise the gloves are pretty sick. Feb 25, 2014

Douglas B: I would order one size up, they do run small in my opinion. The worst that happen is to exchange them back, but Revzilla will pay the postage. You're covered, good to go. Feb 25, 2014

Matthew O: Yes. Basically just take the size you normally wear and go up one. I'm typically a medium in American cut gloves but I'm a large in AStars. Mar 12, 2014

Mitchell F asked: I was only able to try on the celer gloves at my local shop and was an XXL, the reviews for that glove say it runs really small. Would I still be an XXL in the gpx or since my hand measures right at about 4" should I go for the XL? May 6, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Wise C: Ive never tried the celer, at my local shop I tried on an A stars glove but it was more of a gauntlet style. The large fit a little snug so when i purchased the GPX I ordered a large knowing that overtime the leather would loosen up a bit. Ive had the gloves for about 3 months now, and im happy with them, they fit just fine now that they are broken in, and they get good airflow. Hope this helps, ride safe. May 8, 2014

A shopper asked: I'm about to get these, but I want to get the sizing right. I was able to wear the celer gloves in my local shop and was a XXL, should I stick with XXL or go down a size? I ask b/c the reviews on the celer gloves say they run small. May 6, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jim W: I really like the gloves, they are excellent for 55 degrees and up. They do run small, I typically wear XL in Alpinestars gloves and these in XL were initially a little tight. After a few long rides the leather stretched and are much more comfortable now. The added protection on the wrist area is a nice touch for a short glove. May 6, 2014

Gary S: I usually wear a XL, but these gloves seem to run small. I had a pair of XL sent out, and they were too small. But no worries, free shipping back made it easy to return and get a XXL. MUCH better now! May 6, 2014

B K asked: Is this glove best fit under or over your jacket? I have an aspide jacket which is pretty tight around the wrist. Mar 23, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jonathan T: it fits under your jacket. i tried fitting it outside, its short, after you move around maybe half of it will go back in leaving the other half stuck outside. quite uncomfortable that way.
and the only closure velcro doesnt "feel" as safe around the outside.
i just leave the padding part(with logo) outside of the jacket. it feels perfect that way. very comfortable! and tons of airflow during summer.
if your jacket is very tight around the wrist, the only thing is you'll have to tuck in the velcro when you put it on(only takes 1 finger and about 2 seconds to do so), not like the full gloves you can just slap it on and go.

jimmy v: I have two textel jackets and the sleeve hangs right above my palm. So in my case I usually wear the gloves under the sleeve.
If I wear the gloves over the jacket bunches up only when I'm at a red light. In a sport bike riding position I dont really notice much of a problem.
Over all I like wearing it under. I mostly ride when its good weather so I'm not to worried about wind going up my sleeve.

Peter R asked: i know this has been answered a few times, but not sure im getting this correct..
I measured my right hand as per the Alpinestars measurement guide..it measurs roughly 3.5", making me a medium...am, i to go up a size to large as suggested, as this chart is incorrect, or should I go with the actual size..not clear what is correct?
Jan 3, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nicolas G: Buy one size larger than those you buy in american brands as Icon. When buying one size larger, the with is OK and the fingers are very long (in fact, compared to other Alpinestars gloves, these have longer fingers). Jan 5, 2015
Reply to Nicolas Good answer? Yes (0) No (1)
Peter R: Thanks Nicolas.. Wonder why everyone gravitated towards Alpinestars if they're an awkward "brand", and weird sizing and long fingers..doesn't make me feel great about buying these..
Thing is, I usually wear a medium, in other brands, but according to the Alpinestars glove size chart, I am still a medium??
Am I just to assume, from what everyone's saying, that the guide chart is wrong? and that I need a "size up" from what it's suggesting?
I'm really not trying to sound like a dunce, just trying to comprehend. Thanks Jan 5, 2015
