Alpinestars GP Plus R Leather Jacket
GREAT jacket - just a few minor gripes
This review is for the non-perforated version, so I cannot comment on the airflow through the perforated one. This one doesn't have a lot of airflow but that's expected.
The jacket does not come with real armor - the included foam pads are "comfort" pads only. You'll want to add a back protector and chest armor to get the most protection. Having done that, I can say that the armor "disappears", even when wearing a backpack. I don't notice it at all.
I'm a tall guy with long, skinny arms. This jacket is better tailored to me than most of my clothes, motorcycle-related or not. This feels like a custom fit, no joke. I love it. The jacket leather has a high-quality look and feel, enough so that I enjoy looking at it on the hanger! The leather smell is really very nice, too.
With a proper fit, plus chest armor, the inside pocket will allow one thin wallet, or a smartphone (not recommended). Any more than that and you've got a sore chest after a one hour ride, most likely, unless you buy the jacket a little loose.
The three snaps on the inside of the back panel are for attaching the jacket to a strap-on back protector. If you are not using one of those, then the snaps threaten to punch holes in your skin if you crash and land right on them. Surprisingly, they don't bother me at all, even with a backpack on while riding. Still, I filled them in with hot glue to keep from having a line of core samples along my backbone if the worst happens. The hot glue "plugs" can be easily removed later if desired.
This jacket pairs nicely with the Alpinestars Track Leather Pants. Zipping them together is fairly easy with the 270 degree zip.
I have received a LOT of compliments on this jacket (black/white/red).

Aggressive look, well designed, great buy!
This was my first jacket, and I am extremely happy with both the product and the outstanding service Revzilla provides. Ordered it on a wednesday at 2pm and received it the following day at noon. The jacket is true to its size and the size chart provided by revzilla. I ordered the black/white size 40/50 and it fits great. I am 5'8" and 155 lbs. I've been wearing the jacket for over 2 weeks now and I have no complaints whatsoever. The vents provide good ventilation, though it can still get a bit hot in traffic in the summer, but I rather be hot and well protected. It is an aggressive looking jacket which matches the aggresive look of my black CBR600rr graffiti edition. I've gotten many compliments already by friends and other riders. Highly recommend it. 2 Thumbs up Alpinestars and Revzilla!

Two words... Buy it.
So I've tried out quite a few jackets and full suits this last season but one I've been debating getting as I fell in love with it at first sight was the Alpinestars Celer. I did have a chance to try it on and use it but I'm not reviewing the Celer... This is for the GP Plus R. Well when I saw the new GP plus R it was a tough decision... Do I get the GP plus R, a Celer of my own, or maybe a Dainese Laguna Seca?
Style: I wound up choosing the GP plus R in off-white with red (Despite all the non-riding girls I showed my choices to picking the red or black and red Celer at first glance) and I have ZERO buyers remorse on my choice! Seeing it on me those same girls gave me lots of compliments, the pictures don't do it justice. It should be mentioned that this jacket is not "pure" white but instead has almost a very subtle two tone white which includes off-white or eggshell. At first I thought this could be a problem but as soon as I opened the box I felt like a kid during Christmas! Stunning! It definitely leans on the side of tech inspired and has a little more edge in the lines. So for styling I feel like Alpinestars has moved lightyears ahead this season from last (I had the chance to buy last years GP off a buddy for $200 and didn't even entertain the idea). Nice job a*stars!
Comfort: sizing is very accurate based on the a*stars size chart and I had a Revzilla staff member also give me their opinion based on my measurements provided by my tailor at no charge which I recommend doing because size does matter. I'm 6'1", 180ish lbs, and it fits perfectly. I also bought the bionic air insert which is held in under interior liner by four seemingly flimsy but well placed Velcro tabs that do the job. There are also three buttons that stick out which seem to allow a compatible a*stars race or maybe CEII rated back armor. My concern with these is will they collapse or cause more damage if I go down and hit my back? Something to think about maybe. Actually one of the most comfortable sport jackets I've owned to date. The stance is not too aggressive however there is interior armor and you'll feel it in there but nothing of discomfort for me. I feel like this is the best blend of a track/street style sport jacket. One thing that has bothered me on a small scale is the neck of the jacket. At first I thought my helmet strap was on too tight and quickly realized that the front of the neck on the jacket was protruding into my neck and could be correctly by pulling down on the front of the jacket. Not a big deal but I find myself doing it on occasion. Something else I haven't quite figured out is which gloves to pair this with... The GP Plus gauntlets seem to have a hard time going over the cuff of the sleeves.
Air flow: The flow control system seems to work well as I left the zippers open during 80 degree weather here in San Diego but my Ducati reaches 220 degrees at lights so if I lived in a hotter city I would highly reconsider buying the perforated version of this jacket. Riding at night in temps of 65 degrees I thanked myself for sticking to all leather this time around.
Features: I think I covered a fair amount of these and for the price you get pretty much everything you could imagine plus more! Remember, I could have bought the Celer or something more expensive and didn't. Maybe if I was in track attack mode I would buy the Celer but do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You'll look and feel great in it.

Good Jacket fairly comfortable
This jacket is super nice while out on a ride. But it does get pretty toasty in with some warmer weather. That said its tolerable long as you got some wind on you. Off the bike the jacket for me is just a tad uncomfortable in the elbows because of the armor. Overall a good price and it can always be zipped up to make a race suit which I will be doing at some point before I buy a full suit.

Good fit and air flow
This jacket looks awesome. I'm 6' 180 pounds with broad shoulders and an athletic build. I got the size 56 so I can wear my ICON Stryker vest underneath. On the colder days, you need to wear a long sleeve underneath to stay warm. I wish it came with back protection.
Overall, this is a good buy.

Best looking sport jacket
I got this in black with the back protector and I must say it is definitely a high quality jacket and the styling is second to none. If you have ever rode in Jersey during the summer time you know how hot and humid it can get yet with the vents and the fabric sections of the sleeves it provides excellent air flow. As long as you are moving you are good but during traffic like any jacket it gets hot. It is not one if those suffocating jackets by any means. On extremely hot days I like to lower the zipper about a quarter of the way down but keep the Velcro tab closed to make a nice little air vent so you can get massive air flow through your whole chest area.
The all black is sick, I've gotten so many compliments. The leather looks beautiful and high quality you instantly know it's a good jacket. I think I'm an alpinehead for life now it's night and day between my old jackets. Just slip one on for yourself and you will just know.
It is a sport jacket so don't expect to be too comfortable when you are standing straight, most noticeably in the shoulder armor. I wonder what the inner mesh lining will look like after 5 years, it is very thin but it is also exceptionally smooth like silk, plus you don't want it too hot so I actually prefer the comfort level over maximum durability. My only gripe with this jacket is the pocket for the back protector insert. It is just a flap with 4 thin Velcro tabs to hold it in that thin mesh lining. So far it has kept it in place and I haven't noticed my back plate at all which is a good thing, I just hope the Velcro and mesh hold up to keep it in this position.
This jacket has everything you want and come to expect with top of the line jackets. Do yourself a favor and get one already, I promise it looks even better in person. When you get it and take it out of the box and pull back the plastic you will know what I mean

great jacket that's worth the cost
Just got this jacket last week and have taken it on a couple rides. Living in new england I was looking for something that would be better suited for early spring/late fall when its colder but would also be able to be worn in the hotter months. This jacket so far fits the bill. It has zippered vents which can be opened to get more air through but is warm enough that I can wear it without needing to layer up. Price is a little steep but a great value in my mind given all the options and great quality. I went with the bionic race armor and love the snap in system. Fit is true to the chart and is very comfortable.
Only issue I had was my dainese gauntlet gloves dont fit over the top but to me that's not a huge deal.

Great Jacket for a decent price. While there are cheaper options out there, this jacket keeps me warm in cold and cool in the heat
Although this is my first jacket, I have to say I am thoroughly pleased with this purchase. Rode through 50 degree weather and it kept me warm. During the day, rode in 80-85 degree weather and it was still decently cool (with the air flow areas open).
Only item (which isn't an issue) is the zipper is on the left side.. most jackets I've ever worn they are on the right.
