Tight fit, shoes runs small Great look, brought for riding my R1 2012, love the design but shoe fits very small in the toe box area. Trying walk around in them and break them in. Other than that show looks good. August 11, 2014
Great Shoes I think these are really good riding shoos for the buck. I have always worn Alpinestar and have never been disappointed. I bought the black version and they look great riding. they are also very comfortable to walk in (haven't walked long distance but till don't think I would if I got my bike with me). The shoes fit a little tight luckily I bough half a size larger when I read the other reviews. I recommend you do the same. August 9, 2014
Sleek Very low key shoes, I used sharpie to black out the logo and white heel. so they wouldn't stand out as motorcycle shoes.. Gets a bit hot in them now that its summer, You can wear and walk in them, but wouldn't recommend having them on all day. Protection is fair, i don't think they would protect you much if a car was to run over your foot. However if you were to fall off your ankles would be protected. Lases and Velcro straps are a bit too long. August 7, 2014
Buy it for safety? Buy it for control... As a new rider I began my shoe search by rotating the use of my normal shoes to see which worked best while riding. I tried each of the 6 pairs of boots I have from the Navy as well as some normal shoes. They were all acceptable, that is, they covered my feet. Initially, I believed that motorcycle specific shoes were necessary for the same reason that kevlar is important in my riding jeans: safety, so I made the purchase. However, the effect that these shoes had on my riding was so much more than foot insurance. The inside side of the shoe hugs the bike and is very supple so I am able to give the motor a hug with my feet the way I grip the tank with my legs. Shifting fast also became a breeze due to the pointy toe and flat on the peg/grippy on the pavement sole. If you were to pretend your motorcycle clothing provided no safety at all, would you still wear it? I might wear my helmet for wind protection, but these shoes, I would still wear these shoes every single time (though they do provide safety). These shoes are not like basketball shoes are to basketball; rather, they are like scuba diving fins are to scuba diving. Not a convenience or bonus, but an indispensable tool. They also look pretty sweet. I ride a red 2014 Yamaha FZ-09. July 14, 2014
Value for money Great fit, style, protection and value for money. Recommend it. July 1, 2014
SWEET They are very comfy. A little on the narrow side for the first couple hours, but broke in fast. Nice and soft but still stiff enough to work the shift lever no problem. Slim so the shoe slides under shifter easy, no problem fully resetting the lever like i have had with bulkier shoes. seems like good protection for sides of ankle with a dip in the back for a full range of motion. This shoe will not protect your ankle from breaking if cranked on. They are extremely good looking. June 26, 2014
I wanted a street racing shoe not house slipper level protection I bought these shoes in hopes for a riding shoe that adds protection verse running shoes/cowboy boots, but at the same time still looked casual enough to wear to work on Fridays with jeans. I ended up returning the shoes the next day and upgraded to the Alpinestars SMX 6 Vented Boots. Pros: - Style looks decently cool. Probably the main reason I bought them. My friend said they looked like basketball shoes mixed with wrestling shoes. But when riding, I should be more concerned with protection than style. It is, after all, the whole reason to get riding shoes. - Ankle protection is better than standard running shoes with the high ankle support and slider on the side of the ankle. Cons: - The Faster shoe runs very small. I wear a size 11 in Nikes, 10.5 in Ariat boots, and 10 in Cole Haan Wingtips. I got this shoe in 10.5. The overall length of the shoe was about an inch shorter than my size 10 Cole Haans! The shoe makes your foot look very small and girly and doesn't look good in blue jeans as I was hoping (Maybe the white shoes would look better). Kind of cramped. Depending on the shoes you normally wear I would suggest getting 1/2 size to a full size bigger than normal or go with the largest size out of all the shoes you have. In my case I should have gone with the 11...minimum. - Horrible Protection. Everywhere, except the ankle and heel, feels like there is no protection. Although they look nice, I felt like I slipped my foot into a cheap leather sock. The shoe felt way too flexible, and the leather/padding didn't feel thick or stiff enough around the foot to provide any impact protection. I thought there would be at least decent padding and thicker leather on the toe box where you would shift...not at all. Honestly, my Nike Shox felt like they had thicker leather and more protection than these in the entire foot area. It felt as if I would be shifting pretty much barefoot, and that my left big toe would get bruised from shifting on an hour+ ride. The toe slider is a joke, just a little thin piece of plastic. If you lowsided (which is the lesser violent crash) and your foot got caught under the bike, you'd probably break several toes and bones in your foot. - Price is a little high for what you get. If I ever decide to get a pair of riding shoes again, these will not be it. I would rather buy the TCX riding "boot" with waterproofing and supposedly better protection for the same price and casual-basketball shoe style. I returned these A* Faster Shoes the next day to Revzilla. Great customer service for product returns. VERY SIMPLE - just watch the returning process video by Anthony. Kind of glad the Faster shoes were less than adequate for riding or else I wouldn't have decided to go with boots with more protection. I ended up buying the new Vented Alpinestars SMX 6 boot which have full CE rated protection, look just as cool as the Faster shoes (only part that sticks out of jeans is below ankle anyways), and I can wear the SMX6s on the track or with leather plants if I decide to do so. I see no point in buying shoes that can barely replace my Nike Shox and can't take to the track. If you're thinking about getting these shoes, don't. Spend the extra cash and get some real racing boots with extra protection, that look just as good with jeans over them, and that you can take later to the track so you don't end up wasting $130 on shoes you could have put towards awesome boots you'll eventually want. Great shoe! I was looking for a shoe I could ride to work in, wear around the office for 8 hours, and then ride home in. These fit the bill perfectly. They're not quite as comfortable as regular sneakers, but they're amazingly close. They're extremely well made. I've got over 600 in town miles (constant shifting) on them and there is zero wear/scuffing from the gear shifter. The only things I would change are the laces and the velcro strap. The laces are about 12" too long. Peculiar, but not a big deal, I just tuck them into the shoe. The strap on the other hand needs to be shorter. When I tighten the strap there is about 2" of excess strap that is sticking out. That's kind of annoying because it causes any long pants you're wearing to ride up and stay above the strap instead of staying down and covering the strap. Make sure you order a 1/2 size larger. RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
DONALD L: MY SON'S BIRTHDAY PRESENT 22 YRS OLD Aug 10, 2014
M S: This is my first riding boot/shoe. Because I have large feet, I need something with reasonably small/low profile toe to keep from catching my foot on the shift lever. For the money, this seems like a good product and they are supposed to be pretty flexible/comfortable for walking in unlike other more robust/stiffer shoes. The review video on Revzilla led me to choose this shoe. Aug 6, 2014
quentin k: Alpinestar Faster Shoes are very comfortable, and cool looking, I've gotten many comments about the style of these shoes at work. Jul 29, 2014
JOHN W. H: Wanted something other than tennis shoes to ride in...a bit more protection. Jun 11, 2014
Gerald B: The same reason i choose everything fir my bike your videos. I pick the color as my own swag! May 25, 2014
Anthony S: Did a lot of research on riding shoes/boots, and the alpinestar faster was top choice.... Apr 9, 2014

Kevin C: They are currently only available for pre-order. According to our supplier, they will have these in stock by the end of March, so we at Revzilla should have them by mid April. Mar 20, 2014

Binh N asked: why does the sole look so flat? how is the grip compared to say...normal sneakers? Jul 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
William J: The grip is very good because it is not a smooth flat bottom. It has a certain texture to it from the way the soles are made that give solid traction on any surface that isn't ice or wet metal. They give me a good steady grip on the pavement and great feedback on the pegs and the shifter. I've used them in the rain a few times and they aren't any worse than sneakers in terms of reaction in those conditions. Just be careful putting your foot on road paint if the ground is wet. But that should be common sense for any shoe/boot. Hope that helps! Jul 12, 2014

JOHN W. H: As far as the sole looking flat, yes it is, but in the middle of the arch when your feet are on the pegs you can feel how the sole feels like it's wrapping around the peg. As far as grip, it is better than I expected, much better, but if you want to play basketball or go jogging then buy the appropriate shoe...these are comfortable to wear doing alot of things but when I'm on the bike they are on me. Mark D: These have really great grip. I normally wear skate shoes or athletic style shoes and the grip on the Alpinestars far exceeds both. The shoe is very flexible and grips very well on your pegs. I will also point out that the sole is pretty thin which helps it to flex and you will certainly feel your pegs on your feet. It's not uncomfortable but noticeable compared to normal harder sole riding boots. Jul 12, 2014

Daniel R: The material they use has decent grip. The only issue I've found is during wet weather. At stop lights, you'll have to be careful not to slip on the asphalt when you put your feet down. Overall, I like the shoes and I've received a lot of compliments. They have a great look and feel. And I'm rarely caught in the rain, so I don't have many issues. Jul 13, 2014

Blake P: You can really feel the controls with the shoe. Regular sneakers depending on the sole, sometimes your foot may drag on the foot pegs or you can't move as freely. The flat bottom on these allows you to feel the controls better. The shoe also offers good protection. Less than a racing boot but more than a regular shoe. Jul 12, 2014

Daniel V: The soles are kind of textured and slightly rough. They are fine for the most part, but I wouldn't recommend them for regular use in wet conditions. I don't ride in the rain, and these are the only shoes I use. Great for every other situation. Jul 12, 2014

Brian B: These do have a pretty flat sole, and they can slippery in wet conditions but nothing to worry about. Jul 12, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi All,

I wear a size 11 Nike (USA), is this about the same size fitment? I'm not sure whether to go with a 10.5 or 11!

Thanks!

Patrick P: If you wear an 11 you may want to go up to a 11.5 these shoes fit kinda slim in the toe area of the shoe which makes for a tighter fit, I would recommend going up a half size. I wear a 12 and I purchased 12.5 and the fit a little tight until I began to wear them more and loosen up around the toe area, also it depends on the type of socks you choose to wear, if they were to big you could always wear a thicker sock. I wear both and they fit fine for me. I hope this helps! Jul 15, 2014

John P: Greetings,

I wear size 10.5 USA Nike and I initially purchased the Alpine Stars Faster shoes in 11 because the size guide says it runs about a half size small. I received these shoes in 11 just to find out they were too small. I returned them and ordered the 11.5 and they fit perfectly.

Conclusion - If you wear size 11 USA Nike shoes, you wear size 12 USA Alpine Stars Faster shoes!

Good luck!

Chris M: I wear a size 10.5 shoe and ordered a size 11. Definitely order a half size up. The toe is pretty narrow and still make my feet a little sore even after wearing them for two months. Jul 14, 2014

glen r: I also have a wide foot and these seem to only come in one width. With that said, they are a little bit tight at first, but not because they are too narrow. they feel a bit slim in terms of height up front. Once they break in though, they feel amazing. Apr 7, 2014

Welcome to our detailed breakdown of the new Alpinestars Faster Riding Shoes, available at RevZilla.com. So, in front of me you see three versions of the Faster, and keep in mind the Faster is the next generation of riding shoe from Alpinestars, taking the place of the Fastlane, which has done so well for the last few years.  Now, if you look at it, three versions in front, black, white, red.  I have my all black version, and this is actually the vented version, which is a different product page, watch a different video. Again, there's going to be that vent version, which is going to flow more air for summer-time riding.  I'm going to take that boy and move it right over there.

Diving into the boot itself though, remember, two to three season riding, casual riding shoe, meant to really have a great style touch to it, with lightweight protection. This is not a hardcore riding boot. This is really a riding shoe, which it can allow you to walk on the bike, off the bike, it's going to look great under a pair of jeans, in and around town, very flexible, a six on the stiff scale, so we've got to keep that in mind guys. Now, if we look at the changes versus the Fastlane, here with the new Faster, one is very easy to notice, and the others are actually subtle, but I'm a big fan of what they've done while remaining at that just over $100 price point.  Now, the first one is this big T.P.R. lateral slider. It's now one unit, its connected, its dual stitch, it's going to give you a little bit of better, low side protection on the lateral side of the toe box.

Now from there, the other changes are hard to notice, but they are actually great. The strap at the top is going to be in a new place.  It's going to be higher up, giving you a little more support, and it is going to tuck away more nicely under a pair of riding pants or jeans. The other thing that I love a lot is that they have done these lateral and medial hard parts now that are baked in.  The previous version just had a T.P.R. rubber area. It did not have anything hard in any of this area around the ankle, which is just so important. Now again, the toe box on this bad boy is still really low profile, and it is really soft, not a lot of reinforcement there, but they've also managed to reinforce the heel cuff here, and again this is the same boot.  I just have my black version here, a little bit beefier around the heel, definitely beefier around the ankle, but again, the biggest thing you are going to notice from a style standpoint is it is slightly changed and this T.P.R. is going to be slightly different.

Now, taking a step back Alpinestars typically, no problems with the American foot.  Again, I wear about a nine and a half, I'm in a 43. I don't have any issues there. If you are concerned about fit, remember we ship for free, no issues. As always though, click here, subscribe with us at RevZilla TV.  I would love to hear your comments, your questions, and your feedback on the new Faster from AlpineStars. Now, diving back into the boot, kind of breaking it down top to bottom.  I am going to bring my black version over there. Remember, there is a waterproof version of this bad boy as well, but that one is a bit more of an investment, that is going to be another product video at RevZilla.com, keep that in mind guys.

Looking at it, microfiber, which is this synthetic leather on the outside, almost this suede in its appearance, with this different style seam for this here, which is dual stitched up the side. Moving to the inside, it almost has this carbon fiber design to it, but it's not carbon fiber.  It's not hard or anything.  It again is just this synthetic microfiber.  You can see your laces are going to have eyelets that have reflective baked in, which is a nice touch, and on that vented version it is going to be a mesh tongue. But again, rounded laces, hopefully a better chance to stay away from your controls, but they are exposed. Again, remember it is going to be a pretty basic shoe. We've talked about the Velcro straps across the top, which is now beefier, and it's a little bit higher up on the shoe.  Mesh on the inside, and moving one more time to the back, they've redesigned the reflective panel. It is no longer two bars, it is a single bar with an Alpinestars logo.  Then moving into the sole, you are going to see a laser ablated sole here.  Very, very flexible, has a little bit of traction.

This is really an F1-style riding shoe, built for basic street riding in and around town, on and off the bike. Casual collection, you almost need to name it part of the Rideout Collection, but again, from here, there's a ton of boots in the Alpinestars boot and shoe collection.  There's the Joey. There are different boots that are more riding shoe centric, but then if you want something more technical, you are going to move into that SMX1. Remember, vintage version, non-vented based version, which is the video you are watching, and then there is the waterproof version.
