These are my first pair of riding shoes as I just started riding this spring. They are very comfortable and cover my ankles well. The shoes are a bit loose around my ankles, but if I crank down on the laces and straps I can get them relatively snug.
I used the sizing chart provided by Revzilla and the sizing is spot on. Besides the ankles these are some of the best fitting shoes I own. I opted for the more visible shoes (with the yellow reflective accents) and have no regrets - they look nice and make me feel just a little more visible at night.
Overall highly recommended (but I have no metric by which to compare these to other products since this is my first pair).

Great riding boots, great protection and does work very well as a water proof boot, however it is not very comfy when walkin around in them, hurt my ankle when walkin in them, have to wear it really loose while walkin. Overall great protection WP great ridin boots.

I purchased the black/yellow Alpinestar Fastbacks to replace a pair of Dainese riding shoes that cost about $60 more and didn't give me nearly the reassurance these do. Terrific protection, perfect fit, great ventilation and nice profile add up to an excellent product by Alpinestars. I'm still fumbling somewhat with the Fastback's lacing system, which requires me to work a bit more to tighten the shoe than I did with the Daineses. But I otherwise love the Alpinestars shoe and would highly recommend it.

Wanted a low heel, over the ankle, lacer, that would give better protection than a high top sneaker, but also be more suitable for street than traditional "boots" or race boots. These Alpinestars Fastbacks suit my needs, and my style, Perfectly! I have two different size feet. If I don't buy a pair of shoes to fit each foots size, then I must use a heel pad and double socks on my right foot to make up the difference. Left size 11, Right is between 10 and 10 1/2. Once in a great while I run across a shoe like these. Because they fit a little narrow, and a little small, and because they are meant to fit very snug...I can wear them with no right foot heel pad or double socks. Like I said, these boots are perfect for me. Beyond all that, they look cool as all get out, while providing a high degree of semi subtle protection.
