Alpinestars Blacktop Shoes

Alpinestars' Blacktop is a high-cut casual riding shoe that features mesh inserts for cool summer riding. The exclusive rubber compound sole offers excellent grip and works with the EVA foam foot bed for supreme comfort when riding and walking. 

Designed to be extrememly lightweight, protection is provided by dual density lateral and medial ankle cups as well as extra protection from a padded stripe that wraps around the back of the ankle. The midsole contours to the foot and features a structured high modulus shank reinforcement.

Relatively basic for $119 I wanted something that offered decent protection, that was comfortable, and that looked good on and off the bike. These seemed to fit the bill based on online pictures and description but, when I got them in my hands, I just didn't "feel" it. There is not much more (if any) protection than in a regular leather boot (of which I already have and use for riding) and, while they look OK off the bike, they certainly don't look as good as a normal leather boot. They are lightweight, flexible and breathable, so they definitely have that going for them. However, I realized I didn't really want to sacrifice style to get the same level of protection that I can get from a regular leather boot. I'll am returning these and will continue using my regular boots and may invest in some more technical, high end riding boots in the future (for track days, etc)... Just my two cents. August 7, 2012
Decent over the ankle shoe. Used for motorcycle course, they get the job done. Wouldn't buy them again though. July 30, 2012
Eh For the 120 I paid for these shoes I'm not happy about them. They do their job as a basic low protection riding shoe but nothing special about them they definatly aren't very "stylish" and the fit isn't that great. I wouldn't recommend these to anybody, if I had to do it again I would get the dainese bravo's high top. June 25, 2012
Excellent shoe I bought these to use on a tour of the USA. Have had them so far for a week and ridden from Virginia to Kansas. They seem to working very well, comfortable, light, good on the bike, and fine walking off it. June 4, 2012
Great Shoe a bit long in the toe Comfy very light and they look good. A bit long in the toe but I am not convinced a smaller size would work in the width. May 21, 2012
Good riding/walking shoe This shoe was comfortable from the get-go, hardly any breaking in necessary. Very good ankle protection, lightweight and super bright reflective piping. I was a little disappointed in the amount of air flow thru them, I was hoping for more, but they are vastly superior to my leather riding boots, that is for sure! I didn't realize that men's shoe sizes are bigger than women's, so I had to return them for a smaller size, which was easy, but kinda expensive to ship back, but I am very happy with them, and would buy them again! Very light shoe I just got these today and found them to be very comfortable just maybe a touch long but I'm wearing a thin pair of socks. I normally wear a size 10 and ordered a 10. The reflective piping is a nice touch and the shoe looks great. Very supportive ankle support and a perfect shoe to wear on my Goldwing. Thanks again Revzilla, Brent January 31, 2012
