The Alpinestars Atem is a high performance, fully CE Certified, one-piece leather race suit offering class leading protection suitable both for the street and track. With advanced technology derived from Alpinestars extensive track testing in MotoGP and WSB, new technological advances in materials and safety features have been developed to give the Atem Suit a supremely high level of security and comfort.
1.3 mm perforated premium grade leather for high performance impact and abrasion protection
Critical displacement perforated panels on upper and lower body for improved ventilation
Nothing else is better.
I am extremely impressed and more than satisfied with how the entire suit is designed and created. Purchased the black/white version. The pictures that you see online does not justify the craftsmanship, quality and beautiful the suit truly is.
The Atem is full of CE-certified protection. You get hard armor for the shoulders, elbows, forearms, knees and shins, but unfortunately, the chest, back and hip areas are protected with "cheap" high density foam, that can be replaced with Alpinestars hard and durable polymer padding for extra protection.
The breath-ability is fairly decent especially when traveling at low speeds. Be prepared to sweat though when it gets anything hotter than 90 degrees. The Atem is fairly flexible and surprisingly comfortable when off the bike.
Snug fit, with little break in time required. I'm 6'1, now at 200lbs, but usually at 185 and the size 54 is almost dead on, with almost no fitment issues at all. Only issue I had was that the inner liner made it almost impossible for my body to get into the suit. But its easily removable and only takes a couple minutes to get it back in.
This suit truly delivers, especially compared to the Race Replica suit that runs for just under $3,000 from RevZilla.
Keep in mind to also purchase a undersuit. It does allow getting in and out of the suit much more easier than normal clothing. Getting out of the suit in normal clothes is nearly impossible with all the sweat sticking to the suit. I did notice that underarmor clothing works very well as well.

Improvement on the Tech 1-R
I upgraded from my old suit (Tech 1-R) since it was getting too tight from too much time spent in the gym. At 5"7' and 175lb I wear a size 40/50 and I might consider shortening the arms and legs slightly but isn't really an issue.
This suit is an improvement on the Tech 1-R (the model it replaces in the Alpinestars line). I have only worn it twice so far (track/racing), so I expect it to stretch out and improve in comfort with continued use.
- The neck has a stretch panel at the back and is a looser fit all around the neck
- Plenty of stretch panels throughout
- Good sizing for my body shape
- Comfortable with minimal breaking in required (just need to stretch arms out a little more)
- Had to remove the inner straps at the wrist and ankle since these just increased the bulk at these already tight areas
- Inner lining is velcro'd at the top/back and zipped on the sides (rather than zipped all the way like the Tech1-R) and this is prone to coming unstuck
- Inner lining at legs and arms tends to pull when putting the suit on, which is annoying.
I have never had any issues with Alpinestars gear, and overall I would recommend this suit if you don't have the budget to stretch to the Race Replica. This is not a significant change from the old Tech 1-R, more of a slight improvement on an already good suit.

David M:Yes there is, but it does get tight in there. The suit is very form fitting for me, so I usually just take the essential cards out of my wallet with my keys. Otherwise it would just feel bulky. Great suit though, help up very well after a track crash.Oct 25, 2013
Christopher N:Yes there are small inner pockets also pouches where chest pads can be inserted...I found that having a wallet keys and maybe a phone in there can be uncomfortable since the suit is snug Oct 25, 2013
Christopher N:I'm 6'1 bout 180 and I ordered a 44 USA or 54 euo and the fit is great it's snug but not over restricting also I have the alpinestar back plate in it along with slide in hard panel chest pads so those take up some extra room....great suit for the money I've worn mine about 3 times now feels good on the bike ..hope this helped yaSep 19, 2013
William N:Kuan I am 6'2" 190lbs and ordered a 54 but it was too small the 56 fits much better for me. Also with the liner in this suit I suggest wearing a long sleeve under garment. When you start sweating its really tough to get off with a short sleeve. Other than that I love the suit!!!Sep 19, 2013
