Akrapovic Exhaust System Yamaha FZ09

Akrapovic is proud to introduce a stunning Racing Line exhaust for the Yamaha FZ-09. The FZ-09 is a bike with a strong focus on riding emotion and represents a new direction in sport-bike evolution. A bike designed to give homage to the darker and unconventional side of Japanese society can now be made even more mean, moody and exciting with the addition of Akrapovic's offering.

The Akrapovic Racing Titanium system is constructed from quality stainless steel with a titanium alloy outer sleeve on the muffler body. A  ‘slash-cut’ outlet section has been designed to retain the narrow lines of the FZ-09 and has a removable baffle plate, which features three stylish exit ports. Peak power gain of 5.4HP at 9900 rpm and peak torque of 3.9lb-ft at 5000 rpm. Increased power-to-weight ratio with weight reduction of 5.3 lb compared to stock exhaust.

The Akrapovic Racing Carbon Fiber system, with its striking Carbon fiber outer-sleeve and stainless steel headers, suits the naked design of the Yamaha bike and this exhaust will certainly bring the best out of the high-torque 3-cylinder engine that beats inside the heart of the Yamaha. Producing an extra 4.7lb-ft of torque at 5,150 rpms and increased power output of 6.8HP, the Racing Line (Carbon) will produce powerful and thrilling performance in everyday conditions, as well as help to improve the overall experience of the machine thanks to a weight saving 8.4lb from the original system!

To add to the extra performance and weight-saving improvements, the Racing Line also has the unmistakable Akrapovic sound to add to the desirability of both the exhaust and the machine.

It’s not just about peak power, Akrapovic exhaust systems deliver increased performance throughout the entire rpm range. Increased power and torque result in a much smoother ride.

Note: Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states. Titanium - Racing option is EC approved.

Titanium I got the Titanium and left the baffle in so I don't have to get a Power Commander. It is awesome. Not too loud, but a nice rumble that is pleasant to both the rider and my neighbors. October 14, 2014
Great fit and finish. Easy install. Sounds great. 10 hp gain on the dyno. Would definitely recommend the carbon akra to anyone. September 29, 2014
Hooligan 2.0 (Carbon) I used to just ride like a hooligan. Now I have the luxury of sounding like one too! I installed this exhaust without the baffle and I instantly grow a childish grin on my face every time that I flip the ignition switch downwards. It is so loud and obnoxious that I almost feel bad for my University's President whom unfortunately lives beside me. I recommend that this exhaust be simultaneously installed with smog block off plates and a power commander. I recommend these additional upgrades unless you prefer the whole popping and Vietnam-era flame thrower effects that will frequently happen upon deceleration. In short, this purchase was not regrettable because the tone of the exhaust is beautiful, the performance gains are considerable, and the looks are very admirable. September 11, 2014
Awesome exhaust! Install was easy. Fit/finish was superb and as always, dealing with Revzilla is great! September 8, 2014
A lot of hype on this pipe... Just hype though. Carbon fiber So these guys (Akrapovic) brag about industry leading quality materials, welding techniques etc. Unfortunately this claim just doesn't stand up. 1- The fitment of the muffler is so tight it WILL make you nervous how close the muffler gets to the swing arm. 2 - The placement for the springs do not align correctly so the springs don't run parallel to the pipe. 3 - Flames are totally cool... but this thing almost seems dangerous it pops 12 inch flames out the back every time you rev it up. AAAAlmost can't complain about this one... 4 - Finally they never even took the time to clean off the pipe stock they bought to build the product. there is lettering on my headers from whoever they bought the pipe from.... Amateur hour here, at a premium price compared to other competitors. Buy something else August 12, 2014
BRAAAAAAAAP!! POP BURBLE BURBLE BURBLE POP POP! This exhaust made the bike 100x more attractive. Biggest shop in MN said this is the best sounding bike they have ever heard. Hands down I would buy this if it was twice as much. Fit and Finish is perfect. The sound clips and videos don't do this product justice at all. If you're on the edge about getting this, pull the trigger. You will never regret it. July 11, 2014
Best exhaust for the FZ-09! Forget all the other systems for the Fz-09, this is the only one designed with the bike in mind. All the other systems use their proprietary generic muffler attached to new piping, leaving the exhaust protruding from the side, unlike the titanium Akra and stock exhaust. Installation was easy and straightforward. Included instructions are very clear. If you plan on removing the silencer, do it before installing the muffler. Remove the set screw, then use a long pipe to tap it out from the inside. May 30, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
joe s: Akrapovic is best! Oct 13, 2014
Rose B: Because Akrapovic makes the best exhuasts. Sep 28, 2014
Steven S: I did not want a system requiring fuel mapping. According to Akrapocic, this unit for my FZ09 does not require re-mapping. We shall see! I wanted more aggressive sound, not better performance. The FZ09 does not need any help with performance.

A shopper asked: Since the Akrapovic titanium has a catalytic converter does fuel system need to be remapped ? May 31, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
zach h: The catalytic convertor is an add on to the titanium exhaust. With or without the CC you DO NOT need to do a remap or even need a power commander. The akropovic exhaust was made to work perfectly with stock map. May 31, 2014

Alfred C: The catalytic converter is a$100 option. I purchased and installed a Dyna jet V.when the pipe was installed. The end cap has a tack weld in it too so you have to release that before you can run the pipe without the tri cap. I left it in place. I'm looking for a better air filter too but none are available as of today. Jun 2, 2014

Jonathan F: It does NOT ship with a catalytic converter. It is sold separately.

General advice: any time you alter the amount of air going in to or out of an engine, fueling should be addressed accordingly.

A shopper asked: Why are the Dyno charts different? And specifically, why does the Titanium dyno chart have a big drop off @ ~3krpm compared to the Carbon chart which doesn't? Jul 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kirk B: The Ti and Carbon exhausts from Akra are completely different designs, it is not just about the materials used. The Ti version is the closest to stock and has a larger and more muffled can. It is approved for street use in the EU and does not require fueling adjustments. On the other hand, the carbon one is deemed the "race" system and is tuned entirely for performance rather than being street legal.

If you want understated looks and slightly louder sound - go with the Ti version.

If you want added performance and wicked sound - go with the Carbon version.

Lane N: Yes, the carbon requires fueling adjustments Sep 22, 2014
Erik R: They're two different systems, there for different numbers. Jul 15, 2014
