Akrapovic Exhaust Header Kawasaki Ninja 1000 / Z 1000
Akrapovic Header Pipes are a great addition to your Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust. Contributing to even greater exhaust flow and back pressure while increasing horse and torque. A special process known as hydroforming is used in the manufacturing of the exhaust tubes. This process injects pressurized water into each tube to form the ideal shape for optimum exhaust flow without causing creases or compromising the strength of the steel.
It’s not just about peak power - Akrapovic exhaust systems deliver increased performance throughout the entire RPM range. Increases in power and torque result in a much smoother power delivery and ride. All Akrapovic exhaust system measurements are formulated on in-house computer-controlled flow benches.

Purchased to replace the stock header/cat with the V&H Urban Brawlers on my '15 Z1000. The sound was too "droney" with the cat still in place, and tuners have reported considerable gains going to an aftermarket header. Chose this because I wanted to keep the dual outlet design.
Install was easy. About an hour start to finish, including removing the stock unit. Fitment was spot on.
Couple notes: The header is designed for Akrapovic slip ons, that use springs to hold the seal rather than a gasket/clamp. The stock mufflers (or any other slip-ons designed for the stock header) fit in the opening, but there's no way to seal it and get a tight fit. To fix this, I cut two perpendicular grooves into the end of each outlet about 1" deep so it could compress slightly with a clamp. I removed the graphite gasket ring from the stock header, which was just too small to fit. Sliced it open so it could be slipped over the Akra outlet, then re-used the clamp off the stock header as well. No leaks, looks stock, and the muffler does not wiggle around. So it is compatible with any brand slip ons, with a quick modification.
Second, the header has an O2 sensor bung (that has a removable plug in it), though my bike does not have a O2 sensor- maybe the Cali version does? It doesn't specify.
Third, the directions suggest that a tube of anti seize is included, though mine did not. You should use a dab on each of the flange nuts. It also says that a new bolt/nut to hang the link pipe was included, mine did not have one and I had to find a suitable one, as the nut is captive to the stock header without cutting it free.
Fourth- Check and re-torque the header flange nuts after the first ride. All of mine had loosened up a fair bit as everything seated together.
The sound is much more "crisp" than with the stock header, it's considerably lighter, and eliminates the restriction. A fuel controller is needed. Without you will have popping, backfiring, lean spots, and you won't get the full potential of the exhaust.

Update did the install today after my run in period and can confirm yes everything bolts right up and in place of the factory oem system no hiccups. I too bought both headers and slip ons, you won't be disappointed with everything especially sound wise 1-10 decibel rating I give it a 9 with silencer inserts and 10 without and with all the videos on YouTube for this set up none I repeat none sound as near as these do in person
