AFX FX-55 Hi-Vis Helmet
Good value but a flaw
The optional larger peak vibrates and rattles terribly and I removed mine. The smaller peak works well but cannot be used with the face shield.
I now use my helmet without the peak, visor, and find it suits my needs for as a short trip helmet.
I still use my Arai Signet Q for most riding.
Note that this long oval version of the AFX is only the older version. The newer models don't fit me.

Great idea, not so good execution.
It has very nice features, it is my IDEAL helmet, but its not without flaws. Peak is flimsy and can't find a decent location for my scala. It's still good in other configurations.

A nice buy for the price.
So far I am enjoying this helmet especially the styling and the versatility, the nice large face shield gives a nice field of view, but it is lacking in the air flow a bit.

This product is good if you don't want speakers
Just got the Sena SMH10R and they will not fit in there properly. The cheek pads just have a piece of material for the speaker to go behind, which is not enough room. So now I have just wasted money on a Sena unit I can not use, or I will end up having to buy a new helmet that will accept the unit.
Also, the chin bar will not fit on there with your head in the helmet(could just be me with my large jowls). And one of the thumb screws broke within the first week of use.

Good helmet, and can be improved easily.
I recently purchased the FX-55 and have ridden several hours using it (will do more as the weather warms up). I purchase this particular helmet because of the peak. I often ride in the early mornings and late afternoons, into the sun, and I find the peak (like a sun visor) helps me more then just sunglasses. Anyway, I find the peak does a great job of keeping the sun out of my eyes. This helmet generates a bit of wind noise with the peak but here's a couple ways that I found help reduce this: 1) take a bit of super glue and glue the silver plastic insert pieces to the rest of the peak...this really helps turn the peak into a solid piece and helps reduce the amount it flexes in the wind. 2) Take a bit of velcro or double stick tape and use it to help hold the two black rubber supports to the top of the helmet...this also helps make the helmet and peak seem like a single solid unit. Last, but not least, I love the way the chin strap tightens/attaches with a ratchet instead of the the standard "D" ring set-up. Ge

An excellent value for a very versatile helmet if you can overlook some of the short comings of this helmet. Configurations and style changes it's quite a transformer helmet that attracted me to buy it. I usually wear a Medium sized helmet and this AFX 55 Medium fit me comfortably as well. I purchased the Hi-Vis Yellow ... it's it's more like a bumble bee yellow - quite yellow vs a hi-vis yellow with that green-ish tint to it. This AFX Hi-Vis Yellow did not match my hi-vis Tourmaster jacket whatsoever.
I'd read other reviews that is was noisy; wind noisy. I ride a full dressed touring bike behind a windshield and felt I'd be safe from wind running across through the peak and making noise that others were talking about. But nope, I was wrong, definitely noisy. I rode with this FX55 helmet 1 afternoon and 1 evening with different road/wind conditions; Definitely noisier than any other helmet I've ever owned.
If you're looking for an openface with peak and shield, my wife rides with a Bell Mag9 and she is happy with it. I've worn her Mag9 too and find it to be a good helmet. I have since purchased the new Nolan N40 ... quite a bit pricier, but man do I love it. Comfortable, quiet, light, quiet ... but boy ... the price! Lots more than I've ever paid for a motorcycle helmet. But after wearing the Nolan N40, I'm convinced I'm worth it.

Excellent value for the price
The Hi-Viz is truly hi-viz. some helmets claim hi-viz but this thing is the right kind of yellow to get noticed.
It fits a little tight at the upper cheaks but I trust it'll break in
Fit and finish is better than what I would expect for a $150 helmet but certainly not a shoei or bell by any means.
The field of view is really unmatched by any full face helmet with the chin bar attached.
Overall I'd say this helmet is a very good deal at this price point.

A winner by surprise
Actually I fell in love with the orange colour and with the ability of transformation, but was impressed much more.
Being a shaved-head guy I got used to washing the linen almost every day because of sweat and stuff. Wearing this helmet for more than a month and it is absolutely fresh still.
Another point is ventilation. You don't get you brain blown out by the airflow, but it is one of the coolest helms I ever had. Maybe some magic, but it was not hot inside in 110 F and my head was dry.
Ratchet lock is also good, I'm tired of D-rings, so that was also a plus.
Maybe it is a bit noisy in open face mode, but open faces are always noisy, you can't blame them for that. Will try it in other modes and update later.
Actually that was a pleasant surprise for me, getting a helmet under $150 and having or working better than expected.
The only thing I had to do is to cut out some more place for headsets, they didn't make the seating places deep enough.
