Terrible product. The AFX FX41 looks amazing and has great features on paper, but is incredibly poorly executed. The build quality is out of this world terrible. I'm throwing my in the garbage. It's awful. Don't waste your money. Yes, even considering this is a cheap helmet, the build quality is still unacceptable. When I first got my helmet it was missing the internal sunshade! So much for quality control! Revzilla was great though and sent me one without question (thanks!). The internal shade mechanism is so mickey mouse, mine fell apart, leaving bits of plastic to rattle inside the helmet. Next, one of the screws that holds the visor on came off. No problem, right? I'll just put it back on? Nope. The threaded backing for the screw broke off into the void inside the helmet. With no backing for the screw, I can't reattach the visor (rendering the helmet useless). Finally, while trying to fish some parts out, the side panel Styrofoam snapped in half. What have I done to deserve this? In the garbage for this piece of garbage! You get what you pay folks and buying this means you're getting a big steaming pile of dookie. April 22, 2014
Mostly Great the only problem i found with is was the visor. it scrapes on the face protector. Otherwise a brilliant product great fit and good ventilation. April 21, 2014
Awesome DS Helmet I replaced an AFX FX-39 with this 41 and have been really pleased with my decision. When I bought the 39, I was a little leery because with helmets, you typically get exactly what you pay for. The 39 was a pleasant surprise because it was well put together, looked great, and came with some cool features like the ratcheting chin strap (which I now want for all of my other helmets). The 41 is even better and I'd pull the trigger on the purchase again without hesitation. It kept the chinstrap design, shrunk the helmet down so it's more true to size (the large on the 39 was pretty loose [a common complaint with that helmet] whereas on the 41, the lid fits like a glove), added a functional retractable interior sun visor (so I can ditch the tinted goggles when I ride during daylight), included a much appreciated chin curtain which cuts down on the breeze quite a bit (the 39 was notoriously "well-vented." Ha), looks modern, and, though I haven't verified via scale, seems to weigh a noticeable bit less. All in all, like with Scorpion helmets, you feel like you're getting a lot more helmet than you paid for. It's a steal at a shade over $100 and I see zero reason to even look at any other more expensive dual sport lids. My opinion is based purely on comfort and convenience, though. I wear these things 5 days a week, 6+ hours a day so that's a hugely important factor when purchasing any dual-sport or MotoX helmet for myself. I've not yet had the chance to crash test it, but it feels like it would be up to the task. If I ever put it to use in that way, I'll certainly update with my finding. April 14, 2014
Excellent Overall I bought this from Ontario, had it shipped to Ohio and then picked it up. I Could not be more happy. The sun visor is excellent, it has so many vents and just looks amazing in silver, its the only full face Enduro style helmet that i like and i find that it is fine even in the cold but thats because i don't mind the cold, it shipped really fast in four days from PA. It has cutouts for future Bluetooth speakers and the visor does not seem to fog. Very good overall especially for a price of $130 ( like $140 when i converted to CAD ). April 14, 2014
save your money, buy this helmet I bought this helmet after deciding my arai xd3 had seen too much abuse. And I think I like it more than I liked my 450 dollar arai helmet. Better ventilation. Can wear it with some goggles still. Better sun visor. More wind noise but hey, its also WAY better vented as I said. The flip down sun visor works well if a little jerky and man oh man is it nice to have when its really bright out. The only complaint I really have is the chin strap. I had to tighten up the slack in it a lot to get it to fit tight enough on me. Which itself is a pain in the butt because its almost like the strap is wider than the plastic adjuster. Additionally there is no where to tuck or hang the excess so it just flaps around and whips your neck now and then. But you can just loop it up over to fix that - still there shoudl be a little clip or something to secure it. I might try adding a small button clasp to it. Another issue is the strap is a little too close to my neck. I am not a fatty either. I am 6'1'' and weigh around 175lbs. I am going to try adding a piece of fleece over the side facing my neck. Other than that I do not understand the negative reviews here considering I came from a much more expensive helmet. I think this thing is great for someone who does a lot of dual sport in tight stuff with some highway stints too. If you got something like a wr250r, try this helmet out. I bet you will like it. And you will save a ton of money over something like an arai xd or similar. One more thing: this integrates with a neck brace well. the bottom edge is curved on the sides instead of straight giving you a little more wiggle room side to side with your leatt brace... you have a neck brace of course, right? (insert accusing stare here) conclusion: fuggin sweet. April 4, 2014
Save your money I made this purchase with low expectations. Sadly it fell below that. The only pros to this helmet was the quick release strap, the comfort of the inside padding and the style. But what good is the inside padding & style when the outer shell feels and looks like it can't handle a 3ft drop off my desk caused by my jerk of a cat. I read others reviews stating that the visor does not shut completely and found them to be correct. If you zoom in on pictures displaying the different colors for the helmet, you can see the opening. Wish I'd noticed that before making the purchase. I know helmets don't protect your neck but the inward cut design exposes it in a uncomfortable way. I really wanted to like this helmet because of the style but I also wanna keep my brain intact. Jafeel? April 3, 2014
Cool features, awesome price! This is a great helmet with an innovative design. The fit was right on with the measurements and felt great. The full face shield does a great job of stopping the wind yet when you want it too it breathes really well. The shield is easy to use while riding and the sun shield is a huge bonus. The helmet is equipped with a quick release buckle thats saves time every time you put it on or take it off. I have been using this for Dual Sport riding and it has worked well for on and off road use. Highly recommended. There are many better helmets out there, but not at this price! April 2, 2014
Looks cool but......noisy....very noisy :( I guess I should start that for the $$ it's a nice helmet and is the coolest looking dualsport helmet out but it also has some issues Got it this Thursday and just wore it now for the first time. For one the fit is good (XL).Interior is a little hard on the head, Could use better padding,I know,$129.Visor is nice and clear, inner sunshade is a nice touch,no need to swapped out Visor day to night or wear sunglasses. And looks Killer overall. Seems very light to compare to my Icon and older Shoei. Riding over 35mph the wind noise is CRAZY loud.Like a jet Taking off in you head.I pulled over and popped it off and closed all the vents and checked the shield to see if it was closed all the way.Still loud as all heck,so loud at speed I can't hear my bike! Anyway I got to try some earplugs to make it bare able .If it wasnt so cheap and didn't look so COOL it would be in a UPS truck on its way back.... Did I mention how cool it looks? March 29, 2014

Shane W: I like the design of this helmet. I also have friends with similar style helmets. On long ATV trips and when getting caught in the rain it is nice to not have a wet face from a traditional ATV helmet . The reviews helped by not have many complaints of it fogging up like other brands of with the dual design. Further more, no complaints of the vision being askew from the bend in the shield. I will post more later once I have this helmet and have a chance to give it a good review. Mar 10, 2014
Steven R: I chose this unit for its price point within the category of helmets designed for this type of riding. It reviews fairly well condsidering that it is not high end and allows me to get something more suited to my needs without necessarily having to dive into the deep end right off the bat. Mar 3, 2014
Rick V: I sent in my Arai XD3 last month to have the chin strap fixed to Arai USA. After them having the Helmet for a month I called them. They told me that they would not fix my frayed chin strap due to the liner being too compressed. I have never had a major crash with the Helmet, and they never called me to let me know that they would not fix it. So poor customer service and they would not fix a warranty problem. So why spend another 700 bucks on XD4. I am hoping for better value with the AFX FX-41 Mar 3, 2014

Shannon G: I bought this because I have been looking for a dual sport helmet and the drop down sun visor along with the low price caused me to decide on this helmet. The sun visor is more important than the price. I would have paid more for a better helmet that had a drop down sun visor if I had the choice. Feb 11, 2014

Christian R: Although the FX-41 is a brand new model, reviews of the FX-39 helmet indicated AFX DS helmets to have a good quality. I like the unique look of the helmet and the fact that it has a retractable sun visor. Let's see what it feels like when I receive it. Jan 20, 2014

John H: Wanted a different Dual/Sport helmet than the one I have and this one has some really nice features that I like. Been waiting for months for you to get it in. Jan 11, 2014
rholyn g: u guys are awesome on explaining the item using your videos also nice to have a pre order before a new item comes out hope to be a first to do a review for u guys see yeah back soon... need tires once wife oks it lol Jan 11, 2014
Anthony G: I like the bold lines and large viewing area of the helmet. The drop down tinted shield that is built in is icing on the cake. The resin that I bought from RevZilla was their website, online videos, price and return policy. A local shop could order the helmet for me in two days but they wanted a restocking fee if it didn't fit.

This is my first purchase with RevZilla and I liked their website right from the start.

A shopper asked: Will the drop down sunshield only be available in light smoke? I was really excited about this helmet until that part of the review. The AFX light smoke does nothing to block normal bright light. I own 3 AFX helmets, and only the dark smoke shield has any effect. I was hoping to use this as a street helmet, but the drop down looks like the light smoke shield. Thanks, Greg. Sep 5, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (3) No (0)
Amber H: Yes the Sena SMH10 fits. I installed mine on the left vent intake and the battery just to the left side of the DOT sticker on the back. The batter is not centered but it fits the contour of the helmet at that location. It doesn't look bad at all. I'm picky when it comes to things like that, it has to look like it was meant to go there and it does. You will not be disappointed. Jan 31, 2014

A shopper asked: I like vents, but i noticed the all the vents, when open, are facing upward. how does it preform in the rain? does it flood out? Feb 28, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David W: I have yet to ride with it in the rain but certainly don't foresee any greater issue with vents than on any other helmet (ADV or other style). When you actually have the helmet in you hands and examine all the vents you'll see most are 'browed' or somewhat shielded when you look directly down onto the top of the helmet. Whether water will tend to accumulate in the vent openings, or flow into them with surface air flow effects is pure speculation. If it's raining that hard it's usually cool enough you would close the three main inlet vents and rear exhaust vents on the upper-part of the shell anyway. Feb 28, 2014
Reply to David Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
CHRISTOPHER F: I can't really answer that, because I bought this as a hot weather helmet because of all the vents. I have another helmet (Scorpion Transformer exo900) for cold or rain. But yeah, there are a lot of vents and it would probably be a pretty wet helmet. A great way around that, though, is to wear a hooded rain jacket with a nice thin hood that fits under your helmet. That'll stop a lot of the rain. Feb 28, 2014

Tony N: Good question! I've yet ridden in the rain with my new AFX FX-41 helmet this season...However, I've used the helmet in sub 32F temp weather with all the vents closed and I have not felt any air leaks or cold drafts. So, I assume it should also be water tide. At least I hope so, it should be. Feb 28, 2014

Christopher O asked: The FX39 was in dire need of a chin curtain and since it didn't ship with one, you had to buy it separately. Is it the same deal for the FX41? I don't see a separate curtain for sale so will the 39 curtain fit? Mar 27, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tony N: First off, I like the FX40 a lot. It's really a good helmet. You get a lot for your money!
The FX40 doesn't come fitted with a chin curtain. I don 't need it because I only use it during warm weather riding. Perhaps, the FX39 chin curtain may work. However, I don't know for sure.
