Most Memorable Trip
I started riding on a 1976 Honda CB550, which I took up and down the PCH and all over Northern California. That bike taught me about maintenance, but it took me years to realize jeans, engineer boots, and a vintage leather jacket are better for looking like you ride a bike than actually riding a bike.
I wised up once I got my KLR—I realized good gear makes all the difference in getting the most out of your riding. Miserably wet, cold rides through Oregon in cheap rain suits seem romantic, but in retrospect, I was missing the ride by focusing on my chattering teeth and soaked feet. Compare that to a rainy trek down the Blue Ridge mountains, warm and dry in my Gore-Tex Neptune suit, and I was able to appreciate the road and misty views.
After spending enough time on RevZilla to hear “Watch, Decide and Ride” in my sleep, I realized I might as well apply for a job. Funnily enough, I bumped into Anthony as I walked to the door, resume in hand, and have been in motorcycle heaven ever since.
