Two Brothers M-2 Black Series Slip-On Exhaust Yamaha FZ1

The Two Brothers Racing Black Series exhaust is aimed at those who want absolute top level performance in a sharp and stealthy package. True to its name, the Black Series exhaust is constructed with a black teflon coated cast magnesium end caps, black billet aluminum inlets and outlets, and black canister reinforcement bands. Dyno tuned and track tested like all TBR exhausts, the Black Series features a spiral-wound perforated core which gives each exhaust system that distinct, deep, Two Brothers exhaust note. The Black Series also features TBR's innovative V.A.L.E. system and .035" thick 304 stainless steel mid-pipes. The 304 stainless steel features high rust resistance properties and after a few heat cycles the steel turns a golden amber color, which is the signature of high quality stainless steel.

Most modern motorcycles are forced to incorporate heavy and suppressive exhaust systems from the factory. Throwing on a Two Brothers Black Series exhaust will not only unlock additional horsepower but also drop the overall weight of your bike.

Great Sound, Slightly Difficult Install
Got this for my 2012 FZ1, with the Carbon Fiber finish. It's a very nice looking slip-on, and it sounds great. Others have stated that it is borderline too loud, but I disagree. This may be the case for 600cc bikes, but the 1000cc FZ1 has a nice rumble and is not high-pitched. I am one of those guys who always wears earplugs inside his helmet, so this also helps.

Installation is the only reason this product didn't get 5 stars from me. The mid-pipe which slides onto the stock header was not sized correctly. Granted, my bike already had 20k miles on it at the time of this install, so the header had likely expanded due to hundreds of heat cycles. Regardless, the mid-pipe only slid on about half way. Sandpaper and wd40 did not help. If you run into this problem, I suggest going to AutoZone/O'Reilly's/etc. and renting a pipe expander. A couple of turns with that tool, and the mid-pipe slid right on. I only wish that I hadn't spent upwards of an hour with the sandpaper/wd40 before I realized that it simply wasn't going to work.

All in all, a great pipe, and it seems like other people haven't had similar issues as I have. Just something to watch out for.

Great sound, less weight
Bought this for my 2007 FZ1. Install turned out to be a bit of a nightmare but was no fault of two brothers. The FZ1 has the exup system, and there is a little metal plate that covers where the servo cables connect to the exhaust. I ended up having to drill through the plate after I stripped the hex bolts. That plate added more hours then needed to the install.

After I got the plate off the install was pretty easy. Getting the exhaust to sit straight up is a bit of trail and error.

Definitly louder then stock, but not obnoxious, it adds a nice low end rumble. At high revs this thing screams, but still sounds deeper then stock. It sounds like a monster at high revs when your blazing down the road!

As for performance, it didn't seem to hurt low rpm torque and high rpm is more peppy. It's a straight pipe muffler so you can stand a good 10 feet behind the bike and feel the exhaust pulses.

One thing I don't like is the aluminum version seems to get scratched somewhat easily, then again road debris would probably do the same thing over time. Maybe using chrome cleaner will take out some of the scratches.
