Reviews & Questions
Highly recommended for a fall winter spring glove.
Pouring rain/snowing 34 degree temps the whole way. My dual purpose ski/winter motorcycle gloves were a soggy mess when I got to the dealer. Bought these gloves for the return trip home. Same weather conditions. Hands were warm and dry the whole return trip @60-65 mph. Gloves were bone dry when I took them off at home. No air leaks.
However, once on the bike they did not keep my fingertips from freezing once the temperature dipped below 50 F even with glove liners in. I assume they may not be fully airtight and hence cold air must be creeping in somewhere. Also, the palm protection area is quite small so only about 80-90% is covered. Having the wrist strap on top is quite useless and I wouldn't trust these gloves to stay on my hands in a severe crash.
On the positive side, the gauntlets are very long and can be tightened and released quickly simply by pulling on it. The fingers are pre-curved and I still have enough feel on the levers; even though any more insulation would not be recommended unless you want the dexterity of bear paws.
So it seems, the crux with winter gloves is the problem of having an airtight seal that is still breathable. I guess Gore-Tex would be the solution, but that would be way beyond this glove's price range. I guess I'll start saving for heated gloves...
