TecMate Optimate 1 Battery Charger

The TecMate OptiMate 1 is very easy to use, simply connect to the battery and plug it into the nearest power socket, the rest is fully automatic. OptiMate 1 automatically brings the battery to full charge and then switches to float mode at a safe voltage limit to keep the battery at 100% ready, never overcharging, and at the same time provides power to the on board computer, display or anti theft alarm. Safe for use with  STD (with removable filler caps), sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat) & sealed GEL 12V lead-acid batteries up to 50Ah, it can also maintain larger batteries (it will just take longer to charge).

  • Recommended for AGM/MF, Standard, GEL and spiral cell batteries
  • Recharging from 2Ah to 50Ah capacity
  • Long term maintenance up to 70Ah
  • Program control fully automatic
  • Input current max. 0.30A @ 110V – 120V 50/60Hz
  • Reverse drain current less than 0.5mA
  • Output current (bulk charge) 0.9A
  • Charge time limit Safe to leave connected for seasonal maintenance
  • Size 4 x 2 ½ x 3 inches (100 x 63 x 76mm)

  • SAE-71 permanent ringlet connector with weatherproof cap

Simple and it works
I've been using the Optimate 1 for about 2 1/2 years now. The thing works great keeping my battery fully charged on my FXDC, and because it's a simple design, there's less parts and pieces to go wrong with it compared to the more fancy (and expensive) battery tenders.

Will not charge a discharged battery
It will maintain a battery, but It will not charge a discharged battery. There is very fine text in the manual that says it won't charge a battery that shows less than 8 Volts. There are plenty of cheaper chargers out there that will. Don't buy this one.
