SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock EVO Profile Side Case Racks Kawasaki Ninja 1000

The SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock EVO Profile Side Case Racks were specifically design to accept either the Givi V35 or Kappa K33N side cases. They are constructed of high strength flat steel that allows the racks to contour and fit closer to the bike's body. The welding processes used in the manufacturing of these racks are EN certified to the same standards as rail vehicles.

The racks can be taken off the bike in less than 30 seconds with just a flat head screwdriver. Simply turn the quick-release fasteners on each side and you’re done. With the racks removed, only the small mounting brackets remain visible on either side of the bike. They are ideal for the occasional weekend tourer who desires a "stealth" look during the week, as well as the weekday commuter who needs an unencumbered machine for spirited weekend fun.

Quality construction/design, instructions could be better
Step 19, item 9 (mounting bracket)...mounting instructions are wrong. The instructions have the bracket upside down. Not a big deal, but it stumped me for about 20 minutes before I figured it out. The Ninja 1000 setup requires the turn signals be moved more to the rear. This means disassembly of the lower fairing and tail light unit. Not a real big deal, but I did not really like the way that 1) the rerouting of the tail light harness and 2) having to splice in an extension for the tail light harness. The short piece of cable and the splicing connectors provided with the installation kit are not the most user-friendly method. I suggest using insulation-displacing type wire splicers that you can get from any auto supply store.

Once the tail light was reassembled and lower fender/fairing put back together, the rest of the job (bracket installation) is easy. In fact, if there was a way to avoid relocating the turn signals, the remaining bracket installation part of the job would take less than an hour. I really got hung up on the tali light modification, partly due to sketchy instructions and my own inexperience working on such things. The finish, quality and design are excellent. I mated them up with a pair of Kappa N33 Monokey side cases (very nice product) and the fit was perfect. I have Vance and Hines Urban Brawler exhaust tips and do not have any problem with hot exhaust gases affecting the bottom of the cases. I really like the way that the brackets can be removed super-easy when you want to ride without cases and restore the original look (except for the tail light) of your Ninja.

SW-Motech makes a very nice (expensive) product. Combined with the Kappa cases, I am very happy so far.

Just watch out for that error in step 17 and you will be fine

Can this work with a fender eliminator installed, or is the factory fender required to still be in place?
