Reviews & Questions
I own a 2015 BMW R1200GS Adventure and couldn't really tell from the pics if it would fit my bike properly. It does not. The angle of the tank bag is not even close to following the tank angle. Unfortunately I had to return it. I wish it would have fit.
I plan to pick another SW Motech tank bag. I assume the only one they make that will fit my bike is their GS model which is much larger than I really wanted. It would be perfect if they came out with a mid-sized GS bag.
It's not clear from the pics how much room the attaching piece takes - the wide slot on the base that intrudes into the main compartment and allows for fore/aft adjustment and attachment of the piece that clips it to the tank ring looks about like a paperback sitting in the bottom of the main compartment. In something this small it really does take up quite a bit of space, so if you need room for more than a few items you might consider something a bit larger. It's enough space for the 10" Thermos I take every morning, a sandwich, a piece or two of fruit, and several small knick-knacks (charging cords and the like), but it wouldn't take a pair of shoes in addition to those things, for example. I might get a T-shirt in with the usual items if I crammed carefully. I've got a tail bag I can slap on if need be, so this size is fine for me for the daily commute.
One effect I never expected: when I got the bike up to around 80 the morning after mounting the bag, I kept wondering if there was a really strong tail wind or something, because the wind wasn't pushing me off the back as hard as usual. The little bag is small enough to be out of my range of vision when sitting normally, so I'd kind of forgotten it was there. I finally realized that the bag was taking the majority of the wind blast off my torso, and I was able to sit comfortably upright at highway speeds. I don't remember anyone else mentioning this, so I don't know if it's just the way the bag fits on my particular bike, the position I mounted it in, or what, but's its fantastic. This is my first tank bag and I was concerned that I'd find it awkward or in-the-way at that location - I never suspected it would make riding MORE comfortable. It's better than a fairing - all the wind-blocking with none of the buffeting.
It has a nice little handle dangling from the front (nearest the handlebars). It may vary by tank shape, but the front of the bag isn't particularly close to the tank on my bike, yet the handle touches the tank where it hangs down. I've kept it off the paint by tucking it under the strap that attaches to the cable that runs underneath the bag to unclip it, but they could have just made the handle a little shorter. It's an odd oversight on a bag designed specifically to stay off the paint.
At the time of writing, Revzilla's system says that this doesn't fit the 2016 Speed Triple. SW-Motech's site says it does, so I ordered the tank cap ring for the 2015 and it fits fine. Just FYI, if you're a Speedy owner...
There are two elastic straps on the right inside wall of the main compartment. I haven't seen them mentioned and don't know if they have a specific purpose.
There is a flap covering most of inside right wall of the main compartment, and another on the left, that are held in place with Velcro. Pulling them open exposes the material that makes the walls rigid. I don't know their purpose.
The little ports for electric cords to go through that are positioned on the front and back have slits in their rubber covers to keep the holes more or less sealed while allowing cords through. The nylon underneath those slits seems not to be cut through yet though, so you'll need to cut slits in it before you can use those ports. No biggie, but you'll want to be careful not to cut through the edges of the rubber covers as well, or to mess up the lining on the inside.
In any case, I've only had this bag for a day, but it looks like it'll hold up well long-term, and I'm sure I'll get plenty of use out of it. If anything, since I've already got the ring mounted, I may eventually buy a bigger one for longer trips. Highly recommended.

Now if they would just let us post pictures with the review, I'd show the finished result!

But this latest bag was more for styling and not so much for volume for it is really not very big at all inside which is one of the reasons for the four on features , that and no really nice lid with slots for pens , tire gauges and little bits one carries in tank bags.
All that said, the workmanship and quick release system is very well engineered and with some simple careful means you can install it in minutes bitterly though I admit my first time was a mess .
Some caveats. put some wood and stuffing inside the bag before you drill. You can easily slip with the drill bit and go right though a zipper on the other side.. ask me how I know. LOL
Now another tip. USE THE JIG for drilling it makes it simple but you do have to pay attention which way you place the jig and the bits included are just way too big as well. Not sure what is up with that but it was too big period. Once you figure out and read "this end up" for the jib all the holes will line up with proper holes and once you position the tank bag on the filler horshoe catch you can slide the whole assembly back and forth till you see the ideal placement on your tank . it is then you can gently life off the bag and the templet should stay lodged in the bag and from there just drill through the template and the holes will be exactly where they should be for your tanks fitment. . Anything you don't what holes indie protect with wood block or hard stuffing of some sort and peel back the inner lining over the bottom inside of tank to expose the plastic base inside for the holes
Then you just screw in the screws and tighten everything down. Works like clockwork when you follow the directions .
Love my bag . it is marginally larger than the first one mini bag which I still like and can use when I'm just going around town and want somewhere for the garage opener and gloves pops off and into the restaurant with you if you bike is not secure. Great product simple to use and I got also the map case that goes on top for maps and holds and entire rand mcnally booklet of 8 by 10 inches and clear top will allow you to use your touch screen items as well. Very versatile and esthetically pleasing bag for the modern bikes of today.

It goes on and off so easy and I've got its contents dialed. I'm certain that this bag was created to make it super comfy to lay out on your tank for long stretches.
favorite small tank bag of all time.

The quick release feature is so convenient and easy to use, and I hardly notice the bag is on the bike at all. It also serves as a nice platform to kinda rest my left arm and body on as i'm cruising down the highway.
A little pricey, since you have to buy the $40 adapter ring for your bike, but now that I have that, I can buy a larger SW-Motech tank bag for longer trips if I want to.

The price is high but you get quality in return. I'll be looking at SW-Motech for a future seat bag.

Appreciate the reply.
If the ring fits R3, you'll love this bag.
