Nice design
I've had more than one set of bars on my Sertao. These are the best I've seen. Some manufacturers have floating connection points. Not this one. The tubes are thick and strong. They don't jut out too far either, an issue I have with other designs. While they are a bit in the way for removing the body panels, the shape of the bars enhances the look of the bike having it take on a more muscular and rugged profile. Fit is spot on. Great company, great products.

Did its job
Took a little longer to install than I thought, but still less than the instructions said. Already had two low speed drops in dirt and not only were my fairings totally protected, but the powder coating on the crash bars was barely marred!

Good product
I bought these last year and they installed pretty quickly. During the install, one of the lower attachment points ran into the shield at the bottom of the bike. I had to flare the shield outward a tiny bit to get the bar in place. That was probably more the shield than the bars; as the bars lined up with the beemers holes perfectly.

I have had one low speed wipe-out on concrete with them. They protected the fairing perfectly.... can't say the same for the handguard or the rear fender!! (But, that's not their job!) I did get a couple small scratches on the bar, which is to be expected on concrete. They did not bend. (For the record, this was a pretty hard fall, as the bike went downward on a slope [failed to get my foot under me soon enough when the bike before me slowed suddenly and changed directions] while moving less than 5mph.)

With so few options available for the g650gs models, these are a great choice, they did what they were supposed to do and neither the bike nor the bars were catastrophically damaged!

Best Crash Bars On The Market
I bought the SW- Motech crash bars for my 2012 BMW G 650GS as in my opinion they offer the best protection for the engine and fairing of available crash bars on the market. I bought them from Revzilla after watching their video review and as always prompt delivery after ordering. The fit and feel of these bars are excellent and install was very easy and on the plus side they make the bike look breat!!

Anyone try these bars on a BMW G650GS with a AltRider bash plate? They look like they will work but curious if anyone has feedback?
Dean T on Jun 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have. There is a little interference. You have to grind away some material from the bash plate on the front corners to make them fit but it's not a lot of material. I like the SWMotech bars because of their three point attachment that's why I didn't get the altrider ones. And I like the altrider bash plate best of the bash plates (not really based on anything other than appearance and the oil hole) that's why I wanted that combination
If you have these on, do you still need something like the Puig engine guard for the BMW G650gs? And if so, can both the crash bars and engine guard even co-exist with the limited space or is it one or the other? Thanks
Christian S on Mar 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Think they both use se of the same mounting points and can not be used in unison. However, the day I put on my Motechs, I dropped my bike at a pretty low speed, twice! Not a scratch. The powder coating is tough and the bars are thick. I did add a bash plate and feel like my bases are pretty well covered.
Has anyone found highway pegs that fit these? Ideally it would be the offset variety that put the peg a few inches forward of the crash bar. Thanks
