Should be standard on a KLR.
I got really tired of watching my KLR move with the wind on its side stand. It sucks. Put this on, and it works well. Rocks right up. Eases maintenance. Stays upright. The only thing I would suggest is a slightly larger foot pad. It tends to bite into your sole, when pressing down. I have SW-Motech crash bars and their skid plate. Good products.

Worth the effort
Well made, nice positive action, super easy to fit with the good simple instructions it came with. Looks good. Fits in nicely and doesn't interfere with the side stand.

Bit new so durability is unknown to comment on as yet but from the construction I am expecting excellent durability.

SW Motech center stand is the greatest
I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability. I got this to replace a center stand that did not have the assist lever. Now I can get my KLR on the center stand with the luggage still on.

Weak retention spring
Installs easily. It does BAIRLY contact the swingarm if you raise or lower it while the bike is on the sidestand, but not when the bike is upright.. which shouldn't be a problem for obvious reasons. The only issue I have with this item, and I'm wondering if it's just me since it hasn't been mentioned in other reviews, is that the spring set holds it loosely in the recessed position (folded up under the bike when not in use). I thought maybe I was just being picky and compared it to my other bike. No comparison. The spring set on this center stand is weak. Its so weak... (how weak is it?) that I can feel it bounce when I hit a bump and thump against the undercarriage. I picked up a very short rubber tarp bungee and hooked it to the frame on the right side near the passenger peg area. That said, I'm open to suggestions if anyone has a better idea. I dinged it on durability because I shudder to think of it getting hung up at speed off road when the spring can't hold it in place.

Seems to be great!
This centerstand has great reviews, and so far I have to agree. The installation was pretty easy. I wasn't paying attention and installed the longer bolt on the wrong side, which added 10 minutes. The most difficult part (that wasn't that difficult) was getting the retraction spring connected. I'm stoked that I can lube the chain and remove my tires with ease now!

Excellent Add-On
Installing this center stand was simplistic. The added value to my 2014 KLR650 New Edition has been tremendous. Regular service; oil change, chain clean/adjust, etc. are simplified by not having to deploy a jack. Just prop the beast on the center stand! In addition, this center stand is an absolute must on soft ground and other unstable and/or uneven terrain where the side stand is inefficient and useless. I highly recommend this product.

its a very good add on
It si really easy to install, fits perfectly well and is relatively easy to install. the instructions could have a bit more information about the importance of which side should be installed first and why.

Another poorly engineered product from SW-MOTECH
Impossible to align in a manner that keeps it from scratching the hell out of your swingarm (a slightly thicker mounting bracket would have taken care of this). Will not retract all the way because as I mentioned before it contacts your swingarm every time on the way up. Dangerously close to the chain (almost no clearance at all). No amount of loosening, retightening, or shimmying of included parts will correct this. After having a good experience with the SW-MOTECH crash bars I though maybe the rack I purchased previously was the exception to the rule (far too many delicate fasteners for no particular reason). Now with 2 out of 3 poorly engineered SW-MOTECH products under my belt I am done with this brand.
