SW Motech center stand for Honda cb500f
Very good product & easy too install. I would recommend & buy again. No cutting on any plastics required, just remove 1 bolt , install center stand then put bolt back in on plastic part of bike.

This works perfect. There's a YouTube video on installing this .look for Honda cb500f center stand installation it's a video from Tailand I think.

Easier than I thought
So I was looking for a center stand for my brand new Honda CB500F and found this one through Revzilla. Before purchasing it I read the reviews on this centerstand which made installment much easier. You don't have o cut off the bottom fairing as shown in the instructions, just remove it prior to installation and reinstall afterward. Also, you don't really need a spring installer although it may make it easier. I used a large flathead screwdriver and got it to seat after about 6 tries. After install, it worked as described and it looks good. I'd recommend this product. It took me about 1/2 hour to install and I'm not that mechanically inclined, more of a construction guy than an auto guy.

Works like a Champ
I got tired of using my MacGyver method of propping the bike up with 2x4 wood blocks every time I cleaned/oiled the chain. Plus as I learned through someone else's hard luck, it's a lot easier to work on your bike when you're stranded in the middle of nowhere, if you have a way to prop it up. Not wanting to be caught in that situation, I ordered the SW-Motech Centerstand. Shipping was fast, and packaging was excellent. I watched the YouTube video another reviewer mentioned, read the instructions, then bolted everything together in about 30 minutes. The only thing it doesn't come with is grease and tools. If you already have those, it's a piece of cake to install. And now I have the peace of mind knowing the stand is there if I ever need it, plus the convenience to use it for regular maintenance. Highly recommended!

Easier than I thought
The most difficult part of installing the stand on my Honda CBR500R was to figure out the best way to cut a piece of the fairing that was required for the stand to fit. A small piece of the fairing has to be cut off of the lower part by the side stand. I wanted to remove the lower section of the fairing so that I could make a nice clean cut. But in order to take off just the lower part you have to remove most of the rest of the fairing. I decided to cut the fairing in place, so much easier.

The rest of installation was very straight forward and the instructions were very clear. After cutting the fairing it less than a half hour to instal the stand. They suggest you buy a special spring installation tool, but I used a long phillips screwdriver while wearing some thing gloves to protect my hands.

A friend also bought the same brand stand for his Kaw. KLR and it was even easier, no fairing to cut.

How long does it take to install? My bike shop is quoting 1.5h and I want to make sure it's fair. Also, does anyone have experience doing the install without cutting the fairing: how does this work, and does the stand rub against the fairing much?
Cedric B on May 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It took me about an hour to do; most of that was trying to find the right tool to pull the spring down to attach to the spot where it goes on the bottom of the centerstand. When I finally figured out all I needed was a long screwdriver, I was done in a jiffy.
The instructions are really pictures. An eight year old can figure it out. That's how simple it is. You can do it yourself!
I don't know why you think you have to cut the fairing. Each SW Motech centerstand is bike specific. You tell them on the website what bike you have, they send the right one for your bike.
I have a Honda 2015 NC700X and a 2014 BMW F700GS. I ordered a centerstand for each and put them on myself. I was a liar...oops,...I meant lawyer, in my earlier life, so it's not like I have any exceptional mechanical abilities. I do however, know how to read simple instructions. I'm good at reading.
Neither stand rubs up against anything. They are made bike specific. The stand I bought for the Honda was not the same as the one for the BMW. As a matter of fact, each one came with a substantial rubber bumper that you insert into the appropriate hole, with a little lubricant that is also supplied in the kit, to keep the stand from hitting the frame of the bike when it's put back in the up position.
Honestly, it's as simple as it gets. Why pay a bike shop to put on a centerstand?
On the other hand, I had previously purchased a bike stand that I put in the garage. The bike has to be upright and secure, before you do any of this.
If you don't have a bike stand look around on the Internet, (SW Motech probably has one of those, too). You can also have a VERY trustworthy family member or friend to hold the bike upright before you decide to crawl underneath a 400+ pound bike. Make sure they're sober, because otherwise you'll find out what 400 pounds feels like. Not nice.
Does this stand replace the kick stand? Or do they both remain on the bike, allowing one to choose which stand to use at any given time?
A shopper on May 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is mounted in addition to the stock side stand.
I normally lean the bike over on the side stand to park and then put the bike up on the center stand once I'm dismounted.
i have a new 2016 cb500x model . does the 2015 model center stand will fit?
