SW-MOTECH 1 1/8" Barback Offset Handlebar Risers

Provides a more upright, comfortable riding position by raising and retracting the original 1 1/8" (28mm) diameter handlebar. No need to replace your handlebars - simply remove the original top clamp, place the riser between the handlebar and original bottom clamp, and install the replacement top clamp using included hardware. Barbacks increase handlebar height by 30mm (1.25") and move them back 22mm (1.0"), producing an overall handlebar displacement of 35.4mm (1.4") at a 45 degree angle from the original position.

When installed, there may be a slight gap between the bar riser and the top clamp. This gap allows the top clamps to be torque-tightened onto the bar riser to prevent the bar from spinning.

Kit Includes:

  • Barbacks for 1 1/8" bars (1 pair)
  • Top clamps for 1 1/8" bars (1 pair)
  • Four M8x30 screws
  • Four M8x20 screws

Note: Please read below fitment notes prior to ordering.

Fitment Notes & Exceptions

This is a universal fit part; it may or may not fit without modification.

  • Please follow all Torque Specifications to the letter Failure to do this will void warranty
  • While installation of these barbacks is possible on many bikes, such installation sometimes requires rerouting or extending the original hoses or cables
  • This riser will fit your bike if:
    • Your bar mounts are symmetrical and parallel
    • Your bars have a 28mm (1 1/8") outer diameter
    • You have two M8 (8mm-diameter holes with standard M8 thread pitch) threaded holes in each of your two bar mounts
    • The distance between the two holes in a single bar mount is 30-37mm on center. The distance between the two bar mounts is not a factor

Surprisingly not impressed
I have various SW Motech products on my bike and have always liked the functionality and build quality. However, as soon as I unpacked the risers, I wondered if they were fakes. The metal and finish had a lot of imperfections in them. Luckily for me, they didn't work on my BMW anyway. So, after an hour of trying to figure out how to make them work, I packed them up for return. For the best, since the poor quality finish would have continued to bother me. Not sure how the set I got made it through quality control. Now looking for an alternative.

Raising the bar
I got these for my FJ09 and they fit great. Any taller though, there would be an issue with cable/wire length.

I used these on my BMW F800GT. I also needed the Verholen brake line adapter, purchased separately, to complete the installation.

Wanted a more upright riding position. Seems more robust than alternatives I looked at.

Hey, I'd like to use these risers on my Triumph Bonneville, but with 1 inch handlebars. Is it possible? If not, is there a 1 inch option for this product?

Thanks

BEST ANSWER: I suggest visiting the SW-MOTECH web site. They have excellent search features... you can select a SW-MOTECH product and have list every bike that they guarantee it to fit on. Or, you can select a bike and have it list all the SW-MOTECH products that will fit that bike.
Does this work with a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 650?
A shopper on May 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The following is a general answer, since my application was different - 2012 Suz V-Strom. First, measure the diameter of you current bar. If it is 7/8 in. or 28 mm. you are good. Next, measure the center to center of the bolts going into your current top clamps (one on each side - left and right). If the c. to c. is aprox. 35 mm, or 1.375 in. you are good to go. The SW Motech riser blocks allow = - 2 mm of oval slot room in the blocks to accommodate fitments that vary a bit. Most Japanese bikes will be spot on at 35 mm. If you are still a bit uncertain, you can go the the SW Motech website - click on the flag symbol for English.
Will this riser for a 2016 Honda Africa Twin?
Chris P on Oct 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Looked on another website and see that they will fit your bike. You can contact SW-Motech and ask them directly. You can also check the forum for your bike and ask owners if anyone has installed them. They have greatly increased my comfort on my FJ 09.
Will this fit a 2015 Yamaha R6?
craig b on Jul 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you have 7/8 handlebars, its a universal fit, Just be sure that you have a little extra slack for cables and your brake and clutch lines as it moves about an inch up and almost another back. My bike was maxed out with the barbbacks.
