Now, for 2015, the Lightspeed is a brand new piece from Speed & Strength. What we're gonna see here is it's their new proprietary AR1000 material. It's not gonna give you the strength of Codero, but it's gonna be nice and stretchy so you're gonna have a really comfortable option.
With that being said, it is heavy, so we're looking at two season in its functionality. Think spring. Think fall. You can stretch it into the cooler months with a base layer, but as far as the warmer months are concerned, you have some venting here along the sides. It's heavy. It's not something you're gonna want to wear all the way into the summer, so just keep that in mind. Now, as far as the cut is concerned, really nice sport cut with this, kind of like a traditional leather jacket. So for you riders out there on sport bikes, sport touring, even some of you, ATV guys, there's a lot of functionality baked into this particular piece.
This is just gonna right along the lines of Speed & Strength's American cut with their all-around pieces, so just keep that in mind when you're looking at their size chart.
You can see a really nice asymmetrical design with the colorways for this. If you're not into asymmetry, you can go with the full-on black version. There's also gonna be a red in a hi-viz version for you as well.
Now, Speed & Strength is really known for their urban kind of crazy graphics, and with the Lightspeed, we're gonna see them take a step away from that. This is gonna be a much more mature piece from Speed & Strength. It's gonna be really nice in its cut, and it's gonna be aimed at a more mature audience. Now, for those of you out there that want something more protective than this, you wanna step up to a full-leather, check out the full battle rattle. It's gonna have the exact same cut, but it's gonna give you a perforated leather option instead.
Now, again, like I talked about in the beginning, this is a brand new material from Speed & Strength. This is gonna be their AR1000 material. Think of it as 600 De Cordero, when you're comparing it to as far as abrasion resistance is concerned. But the difference is this is gonna be really stretchy, and therefore, it's gonna be really comfortable. So when you're out there, and you're throwing yourself around the bike in a sport bike situation, this is gonna move with you. And it's gonna add for the comfort for an all-day ride.
Now, when we're breaking this down from the top to the bottom, you are gonna see there's gonna be TPU shoulder protectors up here. We thought this was a really nice offering from Speed & Strength. It's gonna have the vault armor, and it's gonna be sewn in place, so it's not removable. I actually really like that. When you put the jacket on, the armor doesn't move around, and it feels really comfortable. Again, really nice job from Speed & Strength with the overall armor as far as it's concerned.
You're gonna see an asymmetry when you're looking at the front of this. Little Speed & Strength branding at the top on the right shoulder, but other than that, gone is the massive overdone logo that we've come to know from Speed & Strength. Again, really going with a nice classic look. Really done a great job with this. You're gonna have two hand warmer pockets. You are gonna have venting at the bicep, and then if we look at the arm, there is gonna be a snap adjuster at the forearm, and then you're also gonna have a Velcro adjuster at the cuff. Other than that, it's gonna be a nice clean look to it.
Again, slight pre-curve to the sleeve. Nothing too aggressive. It's gonna work for a great variety of different motorcycles. You are gonna have accordion stretch at the back of the elbow adding comfort, and then working its way down the side, you're gonna see this reflective piping alongside of the rear exhaust vent. And again, that's gonna flow air through, so you can push it a little bit into the late spring, early summer months. And as far as adjustability is concerned, if you have a slimmer waist, there is gonna be a Velcro adjuster down at the waist for you.
And then starting up at the top working around, nice open collar with this piece. Think of a vintage leather. There was the old Vanson Leather jackets that you used to see. Really nice open collar with this. Working its way down, light accents with the orange. Working itself across, again, that reflectivity going down, and the slight drop seat. So if you are rocking this in more of a tuck position, it's gonna do a good job of covering where the pants end and the jacket begins.
The other thing that really bears to mention with this, is that Speed & Strength is gonna include a CE level back protector with this jacket. Two thumbs up for Speed & Strength. A lot of the jackets in this price point aren't gonna have that, so again, around that $300 mark, you're gonna get a CE rated back protector included with the jacket. So a big bonus from Speed & Strength.
Again, YKK zips, and just holding this right side open, we're gonna see a full-slip liner. And it's gonna be really comfortable if you're just rocking a t-shirt underneath there, and you are gonna have belt loops as well, so you can lock this down to your belt. So if you do go down, it holds the jacket in place. It keeps it exactly where it belongs. You can go ahead and zip that up for me.
Again, this is something that we've seen new for 2015 from Speed & Strength. I really like it. I think they did a really nice job, and it's a whole new direction from them. Again, really a heavy piece. Feels like leather, but really with mobility of this new material, you don't feel like you're constricted in one spot. They did a great job with this.
