You pay for the best, you get the best.
So, I've had these bad boys out for a couple rides now, and I wanted to share my first impressions.

First and foremost, these boots absolutely deliver what I bought them for...comfort and fit. I had tried on several full race boots from various manufacturers, and there was something always lacking in the fit department. They'd fit perfect around the forefoot, but my heel would slip up and down out of the heel cup. They'd fit around the heel but my toes would be mashed in the toe box. They'd fit fairly well, but tight around the calf and I'd never get pants inside them. Etc.

I have a pair of streetburners (review of them in a minute in their own thread) and what I love about them is the Sidi adjuster across the foot. It is brilliant, you just clip it and dial in how tight you want the fit. The Vortice is packed with those adjusters. It is priced like it too.

I tried their Cobra and ST. The STs were nice, but I did not like the cam lock across the calf, and how you adjust the fit of it. True it is similar to a ski boot cam lock, but you don't adjust how tight it is like a top end ski boot cam lock. On a nice ski boot, you spin the unfastened cam like a screw to make fine adjustments. On the Sidi you pull out a ribbed plastic tab. I can see that being a pain in the rear, and knowing there are better cam lock systems out there, this detail turned me off the ST. The Cobra fit OK, but no calf adjustment made me worry about getting a pair of Dainese Alien pants inside with their built in shin armor.

Well, luckily my birthday arrived, so I decided to treat myself to the Vortices as a B-day gift.

These boots are nothing short of fantastic.

FIT 10/10
The fit of these boots is a 10/10 because once you get your ideal size, you can fine tune the fit at three different positions on the boot. You can tighten them across the top of the foot, across the front of your shin, and at the top to secure the boot around your calf. No other boot I've seen is this customize-able stock. The Sidis in general fit me well, and the toe box, while a smidge on the narrow size, is more than manageable. I don't notice it when riding, and walking I only get some slight rubbing on the outside of my little toe. I would err on the side of going large over smaller, because you CAN cinch the boot down in those three areas, but still have a room in the toe area. In other boots if you are a 'tweaner size, you either have to live with a loose heel, or crammed toes. Not in this baby.

COMFORT 9/10
On the bike, they aren't there. At least you don't notice you're wearing a rigid full top end race boot packed with enough armor to make your lower leg look like the Terminator after all Arnold's skin gets melted off. The on-bike comfort is the best I could ask for, period. In fact, when I am riding, I notice no comfort different between these and the Streetburners, a low cut boot. NONE. Amazing comfort, easy to shift and brake (although I did have to adjust my shifter to allow for a little more room.) Great feel through the thin but very rigid soles. So why a 9 out of 10 instead of a 10/10? They leave a little to be desired when you get off the bike and walk. They walk like a ski-boot walks due to the rock solid sole, that familiar heel-toe clunky walk, not fluid. Now, they are only 1/4 as bad as a ski boot is...they are comfortable and not painful, just that the sole is so rigid. But you have to remember, this is a full race boot made for riding, not wandering the mall. So it pains to me to even deduct a point at all, but I do so because some other manufacturer might have cracked this code on the race boot. Who knows. If I were just riding to the mall, I'd wear the Streetburners. But for pure riding, the Vortices every time.

SAFETY 10/10
I am happy to say I have yet to test the safety of these boots, and I hope I never will. But if I were to guess, if I had a catastrophic crash which annihilated my body, the only thing I'm pretty sure they will be able to reciver intact would be my legs front the upper shin down. Total Loria construction, very robust ankle protection, heavy shin protection, great achilles protection, and great heel and toe protection. These are the real deal. I can't imagine my ankle twisting in them. These are truly the top of the line when it comes to safety.

TECHNICALITY AND FEATURES 10/10
This boot oozes R&D dollars, and if you are a toy addict like I am, you want these boots, because everything on them is cool. The fasteners take the cake...they are just brilliant. The vents are well placed and flow a nice amountof air. I did not get the perforated Air version, because I was afraid they'd be too cold in the Fall. I am glad I did, because on a pair of ride sin the high 80s/low 90s Virginia heat (where humidity pushes the heat index above 100) I never felt my feet or legs get hot. My socks got a little moist up around my calfs, above the ankles, but I wasn't wearing nice riding socks or moisture wicking socks...heavy black tube socks. If I wore nice socks, these would be dry as a bone. All the external safety bits are 100% replaceable. The pad of the sole is easily replaceable. The design shop hit a home run overall with this boot.

LOOKS 10/10
These boots are pimp. Even in all black, they are very in-your-face and wear all of their technology on their sleeve. A* and Dainese boots look great too, but they tuck all their tech inside under styling. These boots put it all on display, and you look and feel like a road warrior wearing them. Hands down my favorite looking boot on the market. The only thing more pimp, is the same boot in red and white. I wasn't brave enough for that. I wish I had been. But black just looks mean on this boot. So I guess I really wish I had both.

PRICE 7/10
These boots are crazy expensive. They are worth every penny, mind you, but still they are priced out of most riders budget at about $495 list price. And the price and features different between these and the next model down is huge. I wish Sidi would replace the ST with a boot at that price level that had less extreme race protection but still featured the Vortice fasteners. And then offered a model between it and the Cobra to replace the Vertigo. I think that would be a winning formula and dust the competition across the range. But then again, they forced me to pay for their top end boot so maybe they are on to something. But I'm a different bird. I come from ice hockey, and my goalie skates cost $550. And that's one of the less expensive pieces of gear. So sub $500 for a top end boot didn't give me any sticker shock. But still, I was in the market for a Vertigo or ST level boot. The customize-able fit convinced me to spend the extra $100 to $200 bucks. Because if you are honest with yourself, you don't skimp on gear because of price. And if it fits that much better, you're that much safer because it's one less thing distracting you from the road.

I highly recommend these to anyone who is going to track, race, or just do some extended street riding. The only time I plan on wearing my Streetburners now is if I am tooling in-town and planning o make stops. Otherwise, Vortice all the time.

Careful choosing this for racing...
This boot is a great fit, reasonably comfortable and great styling but be careful if using this in competition racing. Because of the complicated design my feet have occasionally been caught in the rearsets (Sato) on my race bike. For the road they are okay but for rapid gear changing in a race situation it can lose you valuable seconds or be dangerous. I have crashed in these and have held up quite well with good ankle protection. I will be buying boots with a little simpler design for my next race meet.

Saved my shins and feet
Went down at 60MPH the car next to me changed lanes into me. I flew off the bike and took a tumble, after the accident I was fine. Next day I felt the soreness on my right shin where the peg hit me. No bruising though, all my gear did its job and I recommend everyone to wear full gear. My feet hit the ground pretty hard but no twisting or bending. Boots help up great! can't tell I took a big fall.

Amazing Boots
I ordered these, primarily, to wear to a trackday/riding school, and with the intention of doing more sport riding. I'd been told by a few people that these run true to size, but I found that my heels moved in my normal size, so I dropped down a full size. Now I could probably use an extra 1/8 inch in the toes, but I'm comfortable.

After wearing them on the track, I love them! Best thing I can say about them is that I never noticed them while I was riding. Off the bike, it's true that they're a bit like ski boots, but not really as difficult to walk in as I had expected. And, obviously, you're not buying these to walk miles in.

Only negative is that I found that the boots were a bit looser after each session. I'm not sure if the adjusters are coming loose, or if my leathers are just shifting around as I move on the bike. It's no big deal - they're still plenty tight and wouldn't fly off - just something to note.

One other negative is that one of the adjusters, which work by rotating, bound itself up and wouldn't turn. I just unscrewed it and fixed it myself, but that literally happened the 2nd or 3rd time I put the boots on (before even riding with them). Hasn't happened since though, so I think it was a fluke.

Final note: I went for the more expensive boots for the increased lateral ankle support over the Vertigo and other Sidi boots. I also love that they have tons of replaceable parts. I don't regret spending the extra cash, and if I crash, I'm sure I won't regret it.

Great boots. Expensive, but I have no doubt that they'll protect me if I go down.

Great Boot
Need to bear in mind that these are race/track boots so they're not going to feel like some ankle high riding shoe. You're not going to go the mall or go hiking or whatever but if you're going to ride and want protection...these are the best. While you wouldn't want to walk a ton in them they're fine for meandering around ... but they shine on the bike. SUPER comfortable and awesome custom-like fits with all those micro adjusters. It take some time to get them on but 60 seconds extra to assure my feet, ankles, and shins stand a good chance of surviving a run in with the asphalt, are certainly worth it to me. Size is accurate to my American shoes size but I did start out too big and that did not work well. Don't oversize this boot or it can feel a little gangly - they're already have some bulk so get them to fit snug. Great ventilation - really, like AC for your feet. Amazing vent system.

Crazy good boots!
These are a bit tedious to get into, but outside of that, they are fantastic. The reason they are so hard to get into is because the system it uses is designed to give an almost custom fit while keeping the boots on your feet during a crash. Actually, I just crash tested them and they slid when they needed to slide, didn't catch anywhere and kept my foot and ankle totally safe. The big thing for me though, is that they are so well ventilated that your feet are always comfy. This seems like a stupid thing to care about, but aside from your head, central mass and hands, the feet are your body's next major heat release point. Keeping your toes and feet cool and relatively dry is a great feeling on the track and probably the street. You get what you pay for.

My favorites
I've tried Gaernes, Astars and the Sidi ST (most recent) and while the Gaerne Balance Oiled is great offroad on my 250 with a set of heated socks.. they don't offer any real rigidity or protection beyond just some shin guards. I wanted something with some serious protection and a very high level of comfort.

After trying on other friend's boots and looking around, I ordered the Sidi ST. They were OK but honestly how great is a boot going to fit if the only thing you can adjust is the calf size? That's like buying a shoe with no laces. Blah! They were well made boots, but the fit isn't confidence inspiring. My foot was loose in some areas and too tight in others.

I sent them back and got the Vortice. Sooo glad I paid a little more. Save up the difference and just get these. I know they're billed as 'race' boots that take a while to get on.. but they're not that bad, seriously. It's like an extra 60 seconds or maybe even less than the ST or my brother's Astars boots. The best part is the FIT! I like taking my time to get ready anyway, hah.

It's so good. Clip the lil guys in and twist. Cinch up the boot, shift your foot around inside, then work down to the toe with the adjusters once more. You're set to go and it feels like you have custom made race boots on. At this point you'll realize how smart you are for picking this boot over any other.

No more slop in your boots. Which is important when you're going a hundred miles an hour and value your life.

Awesome boot. No regrets
I use these boots for a freeway commute and for weekend recreational riding. I wear them on the bike and change into shoes when I get home or to work. Fit is excellent, protection inspires confidence. I wear a 45 shoe, ordered these in 45, and find they have a wide range of adjustability for various sock thicknesses. The calf adjustment is sufficient to allow leathers with shin guards to fit inside.

Some people have said they found the fastening mechanism cumbersome. You get the hang of it very quickly. I can put these on as fast as I can just about any other.

One thing I don't do in these boots is walk around a lot on hard floors or street. This, I expect, would quickly become uncomfortable. So they are probably not the best option as a touring boot.

Outstanding product...Exceptional customer service
These are the best fitting, most comfortable motorcycle boot I have worn over the last 28 years. They are also the most technical and offer more protection and features than I could have imagined possible until now.

Incredible boots and awesome features...
These are my 3rd pair of Sidi's & I haven't been disappointed! I had just purchased some Sidi Blades recently & yet I've been looking at these for at least a year or more. The price was a big deterant but I finally just went with it & got them. I'd usually feel some "buyer's remorse" when spending on something so expensive but not with these. The amount of protection & the technical features that have gone into this boot is amazing. I love the look too- it matches all my gear. I was concerned about how they'd fit with my jeans (I will be wearing them under the cuff unless wearing a suit of course) but they work well. The mechanisms are all very sturdy & work well once you get use to how to operate them. I did make a point to tighten ALL the screws & I would highly recommend this.
Fit is great... I wear a 46- 11.5us... & although I have a wide foot (no arch either) they still fit very well. Does feel stiff but these aren't walking shoes. You can get around in them fairly well but again... they're "riding" boots so I wasn't surprised at how they'd feel. My philosophy is ...when you gear up, you & the bike become one. The protection & function these bad boys provide is unparralleled to anything I've come across. They're the last boots I'll ever have to buy. If you have the money & you want to invest in your safety with good quality gear you'll be very satisfied with this boot.
