Shoei Qwest Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, decreasing noise and optimizing fit, comfort and protection to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the face shield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide eyeport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you. Snell M2015 and DOT ratings means the Qwest is no compromise when it comes to safety.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper air intake vent positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

Interior:

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts (sold separately)
  • Optional CW-1 Pinlock-prepared face shields accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • CW-1 three-dimensionally curved face shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • Pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Standards: Snell M2015, DOT

My current helmet is past recommended shelf life.

A friend of mine recommended this helmet. Yes it pricey but I love my head more then not having it protected. Not only is it DOT approved but also Snell. This shows you how much they care about their product. I highly recommend!!

I own a GT-Air and think that this helmet is incredible. My son wanted a full face helmet for his birthday, saw the Qwest and decided this should be his one an only gift. That was easy!
Patrick W on May 26, 2017
I bought this for my upcoming cross country ride for the sole purpose of lessening wind noise. So far in my shorter runs, I've not even needed ear plugs. (But I will put them in on my longer runs just to lessen stress.)
John B on May 15, 2017
Love it

Only Shoei Quest in my size. Preferred Brilliant Yellow : (

This is the best motorcycle purchase I have made. I have bought tons of gear that I never wear or change out, and even different bikes, but this helmet is amazing. Incredibly comfortable, light, and aerodynamic. Will absolutely buy again when this one wears out (but I've rode in it for five years now and its still in amazing shape!)

I love this helmet. It's my second season with it, and I'm thoroughly impressed. It's light, quiet, great airflow, and I get compliments on it. I've also purchased a Sena 20s which fit nicely into this helmet.
Zacharias L on Mar 8, 2017
The quietest helmet perhaps anywhere on the market and very lightweight, especially at this price. I like Shoie, and i own an RF 1100 as well but wanted something new and more cruiser oriented. also i didnt want a yellow helmet like my last one haha

First full face helmet, purchased on Shoei reputation.
George H on Dec 31, 2016
This helmet is the entry level model into the world of high priced helmets. All the vents are easy to use with gloves on. The size seems to run a little on the big side. The opening for the face shield seemed a little wider than some of the other helmets which was a plus.
Luis D on Dec 30, 2016
Good quality touring Helmet. Quieter than my other lid.

After using this helmet for about 2 months, I love it. Fogging is very low and wind noise is lower than most.
Whistling with the visor up is fixed by just lowering a few clicks.
Plan to install Bluetooth in the future.
Seth D on Oct 11, 2016
Nice and comfortable entry helmet for the 2-up.

I wanted a helmet that focused on protection, had large face cut out for visibility and was designed for upright riding position.

A S on May 21, 2016
This helmet was DOT and Snell approved and a choice of colors. There were favorable reviews and appears to fit our needs for a newer helmet and has features which we like with air vents.
Mike D on May 20, 2016
I used Shoei Helmets in the past and liked them. My last helmet was a Scorpion EX01100 and I was not happy with the quality, (it's falling apart) and their face shields that scratch every time you sneeze! I've had it with this helmet and going back to Shoei.

Can I use the SENA 3S with the Shoei Qwest?
Alan C on Mar 5, 2016
how does it compare to the Scorpion EXO T1200? What do I get for the extra ~100$?
I had an RF-1100 Medium. IS the fitting similar? Should I buy a Medium Qwest as well?
Mihaly V on Nov 24, 2016
I just bought a Shoei Qwest. Size L, Yellow. Fits really nice. High quality. But it whistles like a teapot. I mean LOUD. At any speed over 40 or so, regardless of vent configuration. Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve?
eric e on Jan 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Search YouTube for "Shoei Helmets: Tech Tips Series—Shield Maintenance & Adjustment." This Shoei video explains how to adjust the shield to fix the whistling issue.
Does the Qwest come with a face shield, or will I need to order one?
A shopper on May 3, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I just bought the Quest from RevZilla and it came with a face shield.
Comes with a clear shield.
Also comes with the breath guard & a stretch piece to cover between the bottom front edge of the helmet and your throat (for cold conditions)
I didnt read all the details but the shield one that Shoei is proud of & includes with the RF 1100
So no worries that you will get a good shield
Is this a good choice for sport bike riding or strictly up right riding?
Donald M on Mar 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I ride a FZ09. This helmet is more upright.

FZ09 is a naked bike, and at highway speeds 65+, riding upright, it can get pretty good wind noise and resistance. Upright at highway speeds 65+ it will move your head around, especially with a slight wind. Since wind bounces off body and arms.

QWEST Helmet behaves well upright until you hit above 60-65.

Outside of tuck, like most helmets, wind noise and resistance can be felt, since helmet has a good size profile. At tuck, while using the bikes front to deflect wind channel, and minimizing body and arm exposure, it is not bad. The helmet provides sufficient field of vision to scan surroundings with helmet at 3/4 angle looking straight and a bit side to side to view mirrors.

Canyon riding, with a good deal of carving and flipping through 20-45 mph bends, its good, since it is hard to reach speeds until straight aways... so I am told...

I sometimes where a scarf underneath to limit wind noise coming from chin area, and I try to remember wearing plugs. You will need to assess your riding style, and how your willing to adjust your riding to accommodate riding conditions with the helmet you use.

If your looking for more aerodynamic helmets, you should consider going to a RF1200. If snell label rating is not important to you... GT AIR.
Which helmet is rounder this Qwest or the Arai RX-Q?
Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Qwest is rounder
Which is rounder, the Shoei Qwest or the Arai RX-Q???
A shopper on Jan 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I personally wear both and they feel about the same to me
I recently bought a Shoei Qwest, size large. Fits great. Really nice quality. My only problem is that it is whistling like a tea kettle, regardless of vent configuration. Anyone else have this issue and is there a way to resolve it?
A shopper on Jan 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Search YouTube for "Shoei Helmets: Tech Tips Series—Shield Maintenance & Adjustment." This Shoei video explains how to adjust the shield to fix the whistling issue.
I have been looking at this helmet(Qwest) and the gt-air and I can't decide which is the right helmet. Mostly it comes down to noise, I was wondering which of these helmets would be the least noisy in an upright position on a naked bike?
Tristan K on Aug 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Hi. I have a quest and find it very good and quiet. I sit upright on my r1200rt. Though it has exceptional windshield and fairing. I still use foam ear hearing protectors. I have installed the Sena intercom system very easily. Music blue toothed into intercom is easily audible in the quest. Further the clear shield has a remarkable attachment system. My first quest saved my life in an accident in which I went over the bars. This is my second quest. Fits a round head. Rf1100 shoei fits an oval head. Hope this helps. Safe riding
Well, I can't decide between the RF-1100 and the Qwest... I don't own a bike just yet and I'm starting my course in 3 weeks. I tried both on and still, they are pretty similar...
A shopper on Aug 10, 2011
BEST ANSWER: It really depends on what kind of riding you plan to do. The Qwest is more an upright styled helmet. So, if you're going with a cruiser, touring, or traditional bike, the Qwest is probably what you are looking for.

The RF-1100 is designed for a more forward leaning position, so it is better for sport bikes where you are in the 3/4 or tuck position.

That said, they are fairly similar, and I don't think it would be 'wrong' to get a Qwest for your sport bike, for example. Probably not ideal. If you're planning to get a graphic version, pick the one you like best.
