Amazing tire for the money.
Absolutely love this tire. I cannot believe how well it performs while still being so cheap. It is a little slower to turn in on my bike but once you're used to it you don't even notice anymore. Overall an amazing tire.

Street Ready
As a retired, successful, Pro racer, I feel qualified to evaluate sport tires. These are more than good enough for aggressive street riding in the cold, wet, or ideal conditions. Time will tell how they wear to the abuse. At about half the price of the name brand sport rubbers, Im sure youll get at least half the mileage, or more. Bargain!

Tire is better than I am...
Always spent top dollar for what was the "hot" tire.. Just finished up my 2nd set of PR3's... I ate them up and they cupped, after hearing from a few friends how they loved the Shinkos and the price, I decided to try one on the rear. So far, tire feels excellent. Not quite as aggressive a profile as the PR3 ( not quite as abrupt rounding profile) but my bike feels great (R1200RT-2010). I also feel great about saving $100+++ and I know the tire (and I'm sure any tire these days) has more built in performance than I do.

Tires are too new to rate them on wet weather and tire life, but a friend who also rides an RT routinely gets 10k on his Shinkos.

Great Commuter Tire
Bought the Shinko 009 rear tire for my 06 Kawasaki Z750S just before leaving on a trip to the Ozarks. This trip was a late march excursion and it was cold! We left the Kansas City area in the snow, rode south on the highway snow turned to slush then to rain. The tire handled it all well the round profile responded with great highway characteristics. Only 1 moment of stepping out a bit going around a curve on the highway with standing water in the tire ruts in the road (and possibly to high of speed). The next day it was a "warm" high 40's and dry. The tire had plenty of grip through the corners and gave me about as much confidence as the previous Pirelli Diablo rear tire (still have the Pirelli on the front). The Highway ride back started in snow again but was luckily dry. I have been commuting to work everyday and really appreciate the tire profile. So far 1363 miles and no noticeable wear, just starting to develop chicken strips from too much commuting duty. I am very happy with this tire so far and highly recommend it for the daily commuter. Can't beat the price too!

Bad both Wet/Dry
If you ride canyons or track these tires overheat instantly and will start sliding out and you will be left with really mushy grip and feel. In the wet, they provide little traction. Wear was ok to good, but that's expected from this tire. It's cheap and you get what you pay for

I picked up these tires in an emergency and turned out they were far better than i expected. This tire has slipped out on me maybe once or twice but always catches again. Unlike some of the more expensive brands that I had no confidence in. Great tire.

So far so good!
I purchased these in July. I was running stock Bridgestones on my 2011 Yamaha Fz8. These Ravens have been great. I ride mostly highway and back roads. I've been up to 135 mph on these. I've been caught in a few storms. I've also hit some decent curves. I have pu about 300 miles on em and they look brand new. They stick well and performed fine in the rain. I love the look! All in all they are great tires.

009 Raven on XB12XT
I broke in the tire with a 1,000 mile ride in the rain, just returned from a 6,500 mile 14 day trip and there was still another 500-1000 miles left on this tire. No other tiire I've tried has lasted beyond the 5K mark with the Buell. Gives up a little wet weather traction compared to the various Angels that were on it... easily controlled with some right wrist restraint. Overall an excellent tire that exhibited no problems and I highly recommend for mileage as well as grip. I've already installed a new one, the front looks as though it will last through two rears. This tire is going to save me some serious cash every year!

Im on my 3rd rear and 2nd front tire. For the nominal amount of dough you get a wonderful tire for average every day riding. i would say that on the track it may be a different story but for sport touring applications. you simply CANNOT beat this tire.

The only tire that's been able to survive on the back of the Buell XB12XT for more than 4,500 miles. I get about 7.5k for less than half the cost of the Angels. Grip is great in the wet and about 90% of the Pirellis in the dry... perfect for my needs.

Damian G on May 16, 2015
I ride an old (1997) VFR750. Switching from Bridgestone s20 tires which were excellent all around and gave great grip even in cold, wet conditions. s20 wore evenly and I got 5k miles out of them. I want to try a harder compound for lower price and longevity and to see if I care about having less grip. I don't corner hard enough to wear my tires out to the edge anyhow.
I'll write a review after I've used them for a while.
Vilis N on May 1, 2015

art l on Jan 28, 2015
After catching a nail I needed a cheap, dependable tire that could perform as my daily commuter. This tire meets those criteria and then some. I find that I am more comfortable leaning my bike into turns and trusting my tires to do their job.

All around a good purchase for a good price.
Shawn S on Nov 12, 2014
I was going on a cross country trip and needed a tire that could hold up to many miles on the highway with out breaking the bank. I felt that even if I was to wear out the tire it was a good value. 6K later the tire looks great and is holding up as good as any other tire I have used.
NYr1200RT on Oct 29, 2014
The FIRST time I bought one, it was because it was inexpensive, supposedly long-lasting, and had received relatively positive reviews from other riders on Revzilla.

The SECOND time I bought one, it was because I like the tire so much on MY bike ('06 Ninja 650R), that it seemed like an obvious choice when it came time to replace the rear tire on my wife's bike ('07 SV650).

how is this tire corning? i like dragging knee!
wade e on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Wade,
In general the 009 tire has a very flat profile giving it a great contact patch down the middle (good for highway longevity). I put this shinko on some of my supermotos to make the rear loose, hard compound with little contact at lean. The 009 is great for commuting on cheep rubber. If you want a good sport tire go with the Dunlop Q3, you wont be disappointed ( has aggressive side profile yielding a large contact patch during high lean angles, and its cheep for the performance it gives. Hope this helps.

How is this tires in cornering? I like to hit the twisties and dont wanna slide out!
A shopper on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Well this is a sport-touring tire. If your main goal is riding in the twisties you should be looking at a sport tire. This is aimed at mileage over grip. Having said that, I had no problems with this tire on my FZ1 in the twisties at full lean. But the FZ1 (1st gen) is famous for not having a ton of ground clearance and I leaned the Raven to its edge on both sides. If you have a sporty enough bike, you could end up running out of tire. It depends on how tight the roads are where you are.
Whats better tyre 009 or bridgestone exedra Max ?? which can do more mileage ? And better grip?? Thanks
A shopper on Jun 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I can only speak to the 009 raven. I love Bridgestone but cheaped out the last two times. Been through two rears and almost one front. I get a good 6000mi to a rear and 10+ to a front. I drive well over 100mph every day and drive all year in PA. They do great, just wouldn't take them to a track obviously. Did go down on them once but was a cold November morning and I had the tires hard for tread life on a long road trip I just got back from. We'll worth the money and good in the rain as we'll. About to buy a third rear and maybe a front. 2005 zx636. Good luck!
Whats the weight limit?
A shopper on Jul 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The weight limit is shown by a 2-digit code on the sidewall. The bigger the tire, the heavier load it can carry. You can use Google to find a chart showing all the codes and the weight limit they correspond to.
I like the Shinko 009 Raven rear tire, 180-17: My Question is i'm looking for low profile tire, unknown if this tire is low profile? Please e-mail me with answer.
A shopper on Feb 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is a low profile tire that matched my original factory tire. I installed mine on a Kawasaki C14 Concours 1,400cc sport touring bike.
To be completely honest, I did have a problem with the bead, it wouldn't seal correctly after having it installed on my rim by the Kawasaki shop. I had to take it back twice for a slow persistent leak and eventually ended up replacing the tire with a Michelin brand. Sorry, but I really can't recommend the tire. Now it may have been the original install, the mechanic may have left some old tire rubber debris on the rim that ultimately caused the new Shinko tire bead to not seal well, but I can't be sure.
