Great Tire for a Budget Minded New Rider
I picked up a screw in the rear tire that was on my R6 when I purchased it. It was replaced with the Shinko as it was the matching tire for what was on front.

After reading all of the sketchy and honestly, polar opposite extreme reviews, I have determined that this is a darn good tire, especially for someone just getting into sport riding. While it isn't a 2CT or 3CT, it still offers amazing and communicative grip.

It inspires a great deal of confidence to lean in further and turn in faster as the skill level increases.

I haven't experienced any loss of traction yet, even in rain.

With just under 2,000 miles, it appears to be wearing very well with no center flattening.

I think this is a great all around, day to day and back country twisty tire.

Great Rear Tire
This is the second 005 rear tire I have put on my 06 GSXR 1000 and will continue to order these. The last one I had for about 6000 miles and still had a little to go but went ahead and switched it out so I could change both tires at the same time.

Experence Rider
Over the years I have rode every brand and style of tire, I switch to Shinko on my adv. bike a few years ago and liked them, so I thought I try a sport bike tire. I ride hard and fast, I can break them loose, but they are not scary loose. Great Bang for the BUCK! considering I spend about $2000 a year on tires. In all good grip and that's all I count. All tire life is short. Overall Tire

240 on a Yamaha Raider
I purchased a Shinko 240 for my Yamaha Raider and could't be more satisfied. I've put over 5k miles on the rear and still going. Once warmed...this tire handles as if I was riding a sport bike. Great tire.

Nice tire for the money.
Nice and sticky when warm. tread life is about what you would excpect from a softer compound tire. Decent in the rain.

Completely satisfied
Bought this as a replacement for the original rear tire on my CB500F, which was punctured by a razor blade at mile 94, plugged, and ridden for 1500 miles before starting to lose a significant amount of air. I pushed the OEM Dunlop pretty far in the corners and was prepared to make somewhat of a sacrifice with the 005, but have been very pleasantly surprised by its performance (I've put about 600 miles on it so far): no discernible difference.

I can't comment on tread life or wet traction yet, but am very satisfied thus far and would recommend the Shinko 005's to anyone who's budget conscious * cheap * like me.

great tire
bought the front and back set together when they were on sale, and I can say I do not regret it one bit. the grip is all there as these are soft tires that you can leave your finger nail imprint on them, but, in contrast I find that they do not wear as fast as I thought they would, I still have hairs on my pair and I ride every single day. I have to say I am very pleased with these tires and how quickly they arrived. I will definitely buy them again from revzilla.

Best tires I have used
I have put over a few hundred miles on these tires already.(front and rear) The traction is great. They respond very fast. Feel way better than what was on the bike before. I have not had a chance to test them in the rain but I think they will not disappoint. The price for these tires is hard to beat as well. Don't knock them until you try them.
These are on my 02 BUSA

Great tire for the money!!
Just put the second rear advance 005 on my fjr, The first one lasted about 3800 miles, but that was with a fast 1800 miles to the smokies. They did great on the dragon and cherohala. I also commute on them everyday, rain or shine. I am impressed.

Ride great. Strongly suggest for people on a budget with a lower powered bike. They dont spin at all. Turn well. Do great in the rain.

I've had Shinko 005's front and rear on my SV650 for years and love them. These are my go-to tire. Great traction, though I'm not one to take a hard corner so if you like dragging your knees I can't attest to that grip. For Colorado riding when you get all four seasons in one day, these do great.

Friend needed a reliable and affordable set for his 2004 R1. The shinkos are very affordable and very grippy on the twistie turnies. Great budget tire!
jennifer w on Apr 6, 2016
pricepoint. i needed a reasonably priced tire and this pair of Shinko 005 fit the bill. so far they have been doing the job just fine. 95% commute tire and only about 750 miles on them! if these last, they will not be my last pair of Shinko tires!

I'd had extremely positive experiences with the Shinko 009 Raven and wanted to get a set for my then-new-to-me Daytona 675, but the 009 Raven was unavailable in the correct size, so I went with the next-closest-thing. It turned out to be a very good decision, as they've been just as great. At this point, I would highly recommend ANY Shinko tire, based upon my experiences with both the 009 Raven and now the 005 Advance.

How is this tire cornering? As in knee dragging.

How is this tire cornering. As in knee dragging?
wade e on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have about 900 miles on a pair of these tires and so far they are very nice. Steep at the side walls, wide in the middle. As for your knee dragging question, I don't believe a 'cost effective' touring tire with M/H compound would be the best for track riding (knee dragging). I'm an aggressive commuter on an FZ1. If my plan were to lean into turns that far, I'd want a M/S tire for better grip, built specifically for sport/track riding (vs. all around tire). Your life... Just my opinion. For everyone else, great basic/fun/cost-effective tire option. Seems to be wearing in all the right places.
how many miles have you put on these tires plz describe how u ride as well?
A shopper on May 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: over 5,000 miles and still have plenty of tread
