Good helmet, but LOUD
I would've given this helmet a 4 or 5 if it were not for one thing. It's just too loud. The air intake on the chin is obnoxiously loud. Even if I close it, I frequently get a slight whistle that I can hear on the sides. Air flow overall on this thing isn't very good. All vents open and it struggles to keep fog off the visor when cold... even over 30 mph.

It does have some things going for it. It looks great. I love the drop down sun visor. It has a satisfying clunk sound when you drop the visor down. The seal on the visor is great, as well. It's a slightly narrow helmet, so keep that in mind.

Overall, I can't recommend it if your doing riding over 30-40mph. The wind noise is just too much.

For a first helmet, this is pretty awesome.
There is not one thing wrong with this helmet for me. At first the fit was tight around the cheeks, but the padding just needed to break in. Now it fits nice and comfy. The wind noise you can definitely hear, it gets better when the shield is closed completely. It got even more quiet once I installed a pair of headphones into the helmet itself. It's not unbearable though. Build quality is great, love the sunshade. I had an issue with the nose shield coming off too easily, I just added a couple layers of tape to the part that locks in and it's perfectly fine now. No big deal.

100% out of the box
Once again, at least for me, Shark has knocked it out of the park. I have a 56cm, roundish head, and own 2 Shark RSR2s. The small is very snug, the medium is a bit slack, but ok. The Vision Small is way on the medium side, meaning a very large "small." Fits my head to a tee, even better than the RSR2 small, where my lips kissed the front bar. Definitely nice having the extra room in the small. I wore a balaclava under it, and there was plenty of room. Great vision, many improvements over the RSR2: the sun visor (wish it came down farther), the shield detentes, the pop-out lever, etc. I like having the d-rings, and extra strap securing method is the same as the RSR2, which was twice the list price of the Vision, a $630.00 helmet 7 years ago. The Vision feels a bit barebones compared to the plush RSR2, but very comfy, and feels quality through-and-through. I feel like I stole it for $229.!!

Good helmet, good price.
I've been looking for a helmet that would reduce the wind roar on my Rocket 3 for a reasonable price. This Shark does a great job of that. What a relief! Quality helmet at a great price.

Perfect helmet for the price point
Got this helmet on closeout in the mid $200 range, and at that pricepoint, this thing is great. It fits very comfortably on my blocky head. It is much quieter than my cheaper sevenzeroseven helmet that I was wearing. I have no complaints about this helmet. Vents well enough if you don't live somewhere too hot. Would totally purchase again.

Pretty decent helmet.
I'd recommend this helmet for someone on a budget. It's pretty light compared to other helmets I've had in the past. Slightly noisy, wide field of vision. Not a bad choice at all.

excellent replacement for Arai RX-Q
I had always worn Arai helmets which are great but expensive. The reason for that was that the Arai helmets felt comfortable for my head shape. This shark helmet has the no pressure point for my head shape but at an unbelievable value price. Also, its quieter than my RX-Q and blocks a lot of wind that enters the helmet from chin. This is a huge advantage in the winter as I ride down to 30 degree weather.
I love the drop down sun shade; with Arai, I had to change out the shield which is major PITA to carry.

Overall I'm very pleased to have found this helmet and for me there's no going back to Arai. Even if this helmet was double the price, I'd still prefer it over Arai RX-Q.

Awesome helmet.
This helmet is packed with awesome feathers which ware excellent for me.
Sun visor.
Room for glasses on the sides.
City visor mode.
D rings lock mechanism.
Chin cover.

When I put my helmet and lock the D rings and I forget to tuck in the tip, its slams into the helmet in the wind and a bit annoying but ok. Usually I remember to tuck it in.

Overall I'm very happy with this helmet and I would defiantly recommend it.

Great Value
I love this helmet. I was in between sizes on the Shoei 1200, so I was going to have to order a thicker liner for the Shoei. I took a chance and ordered this Shark Vision R series 2. My head measures 57.5 cm which put me right in the middle of the Medium size range of 57-58. This helmet fits tight on me, and it hasn't "broken in" much at all over time. That's OK, because a snug helmet is a good thing. I have somewhere in between a "round oval" and "intermediate oval" shaped head. This helmet fits me well. I would agree with revzilla that the shape is "round oval".
I find the helmet to be pretty quiet. I have always worn budget helmets in the past, and this is much quieter than my previous helmets. Maybe it is because it fits me quite snug that the wind is blocked better than some of the reviewers here claiming the wind noise is bad. I don't use speakers in my helmet because it is unsafe and because part of riding to me is being one with my environment.
I agree that the venting is not the best, but I have ridden in 90 degrees and I was not mad about it. It's adequate.
The drop down sun visor works great. I agree that I would prefer it a bit lower, but it works just fine.
Bottom line- fits a little bit small. I love this helmet. It is over 40% off right now- what a steal! I am buying one for the wife right now!

Features of a shoei GT air for $100 less, and it fit me perfectly. Shape is same as shoei rf-1200, but the helmet fit just a touch larger (I was in between a M and a L with the Shoei while the M fit me perfectly here).

I see it has the micro lock buckle system. Does it also have a hook or anything that will attach to my helmet lock on my bike?
dewdewyah on Jun 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The buckle system on mine is a double d ring. The micro lock system may refer to the fact that there is a tab on the d ring that makes loosening the chin strap easier. Should attach to your bike just fine.
Is this helmet ECE / DOT rated? Filters out in the search but doesn't spefically state in the description
A C on Apr 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's both. Beware the interior visor though. There's only a small plastic detent that very easily breaks off and then the visor will basically flop down and you can't raise it. I've returned two Shark helmets (different models) for the same reason. Glad I bought them from Revzilla. No hassle returns and best customer service around.
