What's this?

Shark Drak Helmet

If you always wanted to be a fighter pilot but riding motorcycles is as close as you got, the Shark Drak Helmet is here to let you live out your fantasy. Formerly known as the Shark Raw Helmet, the aviator-inspired design combines a 3/4 thermoplastic shell with off-road style goggles and a mean-looking face mask to create a helmet perfect for tearing up the streets in whatever urban jungle you call home. The sweat-wicking liner and ventilation system keeps even the hottest heads cool and, while the plastic face mask does not provide impact protection, it does do a handy job of keeping bugs and road debris out of your mouth.

Regardless of what you're riding, the Drak is a helmet for those who aren't afraid to stand out from the pack. Ride apart, ride Drak.

Features:

  • Constructed from injected thermoplastic resin
  • Comfortable natural fiber interior and ventilation system using air vents and diffusers
  • Two position top vent (open/closed)
  • QRGS: Quick Release Goggle System
  • Double anti-fog and anti-scratch visor
  • Face protection mask
  • Aerodynamic outer shell
  • D-ring closure
  • 2 shell sizes
  • Easy fit for glasses wearers with the goggles

Note: Helmet features a D-ring closure, not the micro-ratchet as shown.

Awesome Look
First off I would like to commend Revzilla on excellent customer service. This was my first time ordering and I was really impressed with how fast my product was received. I live in Oahu, Hawaii and it took 5 days to get here, with the weekend. in between. Most importantly, I used the promo code for free shipping! So thank you Revzilla!
Helmet PROS:
I just received my Shark RAW today...and I love it. The initial roundness of the helmet caught me off guard, and honestly I thought it looked extremely large on my head, but once the face mask is assembled on put on, the whole helmet is breath taking...almost "Predator" like. It really fits the time with its futurist look, while retaining some classic style as well. As for its large appearance, I placed it next to my ICON Armada and it is actually a bit smaller, so I'm convinced that the roundness of the helmet makes it look larger than it really is. I wear a large and it fit perfect, and it is lighter in weight than my ICON.
Helmet CONS:
The face mask is awesome, however if Shark can develop a better material than the foam around the goggles I think it will have more longevity. I can tell that in a few months the foam will start to get torn and make not be so comfortable to wear. Also, I was hoping that the low mask coving the nose and mouth was going to be a hard plastic...its not...it actually very flexible and with a strong cross wind it feels like it may just blow off your face. There is no way you can ride with this in the open/up position. With that being said, you are really over paying for a 3/4 helmet because it comes with some cheap goggles and a face mask to create that awesome look.

Suggestion to Shark...develop a better insulating material for the goggles or develop a integrated sun visor, this way it give the rider an option #which we all love to have#, and it would look even better, #more aviator like# and would be worth the current cost. The mask should be a more durable plastic and firmly attachable/detachable to the helmet not the goggles.

Overall:
Awesome design, very revolutionary, and I believe it is a good start to a trend. With a few improvements, I can't wait to see what the next generations look like.

Just What I Was Looking For
Was looking for a unique, full-face helmet that would compliment my 09 Vegas 8-Ball, and found it with this beauty.

It's not a legitimate full-face helmet, as the mouthpiece is just rubber and can be folded upward out of the way. If you're looking for legitimate full-face protection in the event of a wreck, this helmet won't suffice. However, it does a great job in protecting my face from wind, bugs, and small debris, and also has a slick look. I personally don't like the big-ness and bulky-ness of cruiser style full face helmets, and sport/dirt style helmets don't really go with my style, so this helmet fit the bill. If that sounds like you, go for it.

It's a bit loud, but I knew that going in, and it doesn't bother me. It's also lightweight but durable, I dig that. It's very comfortable as well, thick, lush padding in both the helmet and goggles, and the mouthpiece doesn't actually make significant contact to your skin, so there's no discomfort there.

I got the flat black, it looks killer. Size medium fits perfect, as I wear a 7 1/8 " fitted hat.

Great buy.

worthy choice
Good day!
today received the helmet!
What I liked:
1. Appearance.
2. With glasses are very comfortable.
3. Qualitatively made , all seams are flat and neat.
What caused the confusion:
1. Clasp helmet. Why did solderless quickly.
2. Visors mounting frequent disconnection of the crank and it will break.
3. Fixing the side covers are thin and there is a risk that were broken off soon
4. Plug the rain risk of loss.

I apologize for the mistakes, I write through Google translator

All of the fun, none of the regrets...
This helmet looks like a costume helmet out of the box. My expectations were low but I mainly wanted this helmet for its looks and to help save my Arai from daily wear and tear.

First off, this helmet is LIGHT. Secondly, this helmet is reasonably priced, comfortable, and surprisingly functional. The internals are plush and I have yet to fog up the goggles in this Alabama humidity (it does better than my Arai pinlock shield). This great helmet also managed to somehow fit my Sena headset like they were made for one another.

I compare this helmet to a barfly that you reluctantly take back to your place. But, when you wake up sober the next morning she still looks good, has fresh breath, and you don't mind awkwardly cuddling her. This helmet is a pleasant surprise because I expected very little but I received a whole lot.

In short, I expected this helmet to be the equivalent of a one night stand but now I am ready to "take her home to Momma".

Weighs almost nothing, stylish and sleek, this is definitely a perfect warm weather helmet.
Protection and durability: What's there to say about this helmet. It's open faced with a little extra plastic in areas that most helmets of this type don't cover. If you go down, the upper portion of your head should fair nicely, but don't expect the road to do any favors for your chin. It will keep the bugs out of your teeth though, which is certainly a plus for those vegan riders out there.

My gripes in durability come mostly from the straps and the clips you have to attach them to the goggles with. These are rather flimsy and the entire five minutes or so I spent trying to connect the goggles to said straps was also spent worrying that I was going to break them. I've yet to have any problems beyond that, though I've only gone about 100 miles or so.

Price: ... I wouldn't mind seeing it $50 lower in this department. The helmet is certainly nice and fits well, but given the quality of the goggles and plate, it seems just a tad too high. Style points boost the price.

Comfort: The Raw certainly shines in this department, at least for short rides. It breathes more than well enough to keep you from sweating and fits quite nicely, remaining far less restricting than full faced helmets and the like. I did notice after about 50 miles or so though that the goggles were beginning to push on my face in a slightly uncomfortable way. I believe keeping your speeds down will likely prevent this, though for now, I'd simply say this helmet is meant for shorter rides, or ones involving more frequent stops.

Air flow: It's almost like you're wearing nothing at all~ Really though, what else would you expect? This helmet doesn't do much to cut down the wind, and you're going to be keeping your face plenty cool whilst wearing it. Even with the top vent closed, there's more than enough air flow to keep even a Floridian happy. Don't expect to be doing any voiceovers while wearing this thing though. Even at low speeds, everything you say will be ten miles behind you by the time it leaves your mouth. Definitely not a helmet for motologs or the GoPro enthusiasts out there. Did I mention this is definitely a warm weather helmet? Yes? Then don't take it out riding on cold days... unless you like the cold, then by all means, do your thing.

P.S. Keeping your speed below 60 or so keeps the noise level down fairly low. Once you go above that, you'd better have earplugs or enjoy the sound of your bike and the wind rushing past or you're going to have a bad time.

Style: There's no doubt that this is where the designers wanted to place their cards with this helmet. It's small, sleek and sexy and I've little doubt it will turn a few heads. While the goggles and the guard that attaches to them might not be the most durable, they certainly add something to a type of helmet that usually just exudes a tired, old design. If you're looking for a street helmet and something out of the ordinary that won't leave your wallet in tears and looks good at the same time, this is definitely a product to order.

Stylish open face
I will be honest: I purchased this helmet solely based on looks. I think this is one awesome looking lid! If you are reading this then you likely think so as well so I won't dwell on that.

I find no issues so far with the fit and finish of the helmet. There were no blemishes or obvious defects to be found. The goggles have excellent optical clarity and have yet to fog up on me. Be very careful with the foam that seals the goggles to your face, though...I see Shark doing a brisk business selling replacements when they get torn off as your head goes in and out of the helmet (you could move the goggles but that's a bit of a pain...kind of like that flap on the front of underwear that nobody uses). The part that covers your mouth does a good job of keeping dust and bugs off your face but that's about it...if you're sliding face down on the asphalt don't expect it to protect you (and as far as I know Shark doesn't market it as being a protective piece).

It's pretty loud on my fairing and windshield-less bike. However, this is my only non full-face helmet so I'm not sure how it compares to others of the same design. My primary helmet is a Schuberth C3, which is particularly quiet and likely just makes what is normal levels of noise on an open face seem like more than it is.

The only kinda-sorta negative I can say about the Shark Raw is that it seems to be a tight fit going on and off. It makes my poor ears angry and red like two little bottles of Tabasco. Fortunately, once the helmet is on the fit is very comfortable. Maybe my head just has a weird shape to it that that guy in Goonies...

In all I'm very happy with my Shark Raw. The matte green gives it kind of a kick-butt post apocalyptic soldier look. I think I will also pick up another in black to better match my other gear.

This helmet is awesome but...
I was scared to purchase this helmet online without trying it on first and after going back and forth on it I decided to jump right in and buy it. I watched the video 100x and read the reviews. The helmet fits great and you can see everything. So here is my issue. When the guy in the video pops off the side plates to take the goggles off you can see he is not able to put them back on the way they came off. I thought oh OK maybe he didn't try hard enough. WRONG! I ended up having the same exact problem. I mean this is a 300 dollar helmet I would like it to function flawlessly. I love this helmet I would recommend it to others. But I think I've been screwed cause now my helmet looks weird cause the side plates stick out.

This is a "Good" Helmet. It COULD be "Great"
First, let me say how pleased I am with Revzilla's information on its products. Plenty of video info and lots of feedback. Really helps in your decision making.

Now to the Shark Raw in Flat Black.

As has been mentioned on many other review sites, this helmet is definitely Form over Function. That doesn't mean it doesn't function well...It just has some issues and characteristics that you have to put up with to get the awesome look from the helmet.

In other reviews I have read, one of the main complaints was that the helmet arrives with the elastic straps not installed on the helmet and that after installing, users have great difficulty getting the round side cover to sit flush. I appears that Shark is listening as the helmets now arrive with the straps installed on the helmet leaving the user the rather fiddly task of attaching the goggles to the straps. Additionally, the lower plastic face mask is not easy to clip onto the goggles and while Shark advertises you can ride with or without the lower face shield, I feel taking it off and on will quickly break the attachment tabs leaving you without a face mask.

I wear x-large in other helmets and that is no different with the Shark so I feel sizing is right on. My helmet was comfortable right from the start and along with it's light weight, I enjoy the fit very much. But, and there seems to be a "but" for every good comment on this helmet, it is quite noisy and forget about taking the ridiculous rubber rain plug out of the vent. It ROARS! I was shocked how much louder it is with the plug removed. Needless to say mine will remain in unless it is extremely hot in which case I will wear earplugs.

The goggles are super high quality and by far the most comfortable I've ever worn. A+ on the goggles.

It's not easy to take on and off. I raise the goggles on to the top of the helmet, remove the helmet and then place the goggles back into position in an attempt to prevent premature stretching of the elastic straps. Same process in reverse to put in on. Don't use this helmet if you fell you may need to make a quick get-away! You'll be busted with the helmet half on... ;)

Bottom line. If you are willing to put up with a list of little annoying traits to look sinister on your scoot, you will enjoy this helmet.

I'm a retired pilot and have always said, "Never fly the A model.

Well, this is the A model and I look forward to Sharks follow-on Raw helmets to see if they fix all the little squawks

Great Looking Helmet
The good:
Looks like you just stepped off an F-16 - SHARP!!
Comfortable on the head (7 7/8 head - XL is a good fit)
Open face puts you in the moment
Face mask/goggles are comfortable
Great visibility

The not so good:
Kind of cheesy mount between the goggles and face mask for the price
Lots of road noise (open face)

Excellent Helmet!
I've been using this helmet for a few days now and it's awesome! I got an XL and was a little concerned that it would be a tight fit (I've been using an HJC xxl) but it was a great fit. The tinted goggles are great for day or night use and everything looks and feels sturdy. My only complaint is that it's a little noisy...but I can live with that.
