Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet

The Shark Evoline 3 ST is a modular helmet that truly and safely transforms from a full face to an open face helmet in one easy upward motion. We have all seen people with modular helmets cruising around with the chin bar in the upright position. It is a natural desire to want more airflow on a hot summer day. Virtually every other modular helmet on the market is not engineered to absorb an impact with the chin bar in the open position however the Evoline 3 ST accomplishes just that. Evoline 3 ST owners can enjoy the comforts of an open face helmet around town then drop the chin bar for added protection before entering a highway. In addition to the inherent versatility, the Evoline 3 ST is packed with creature comforts like a CoolMax liner and a drop down internal sun shield.

Great for long distance riding, inner city commuting and anything in between, the Shark Evoline 3 ST offers riders an unrivaled level of comfort, protection and freedom.

Fit:

  • Round internal shape, comparatively less forehead room than other helmets but wider in the temples
  • Runs slightly small, sizing up 1cm is recommended (if you measure in at 59cm, choose size LG, if 60cm, go with an XL instead)

Improvements to the Series 3 include:

  • Easier manipulation of the chinbar thanks to the Auto-Up system. The unique motion of the Evoline remains unchanged and has become even more natural with the Series 3
  • The Auto-Up system has been simplified - chinbar and main shield are now united in a single movement.
  • Fabrics, finish and style. The interior of the Evoline Series 3 has been totally redesigned and is softer, better and more comfortable.
  • Brand new ventilation design fore and aft.
  • Overall lower weight has been decreased by approximately 200 grams.

Features:

  • Lexan Polycarbonate shell
  • Shark Easy Fit system for comfortable use with glasses
  • Sharktooth ready
  • Integrated drop down sun shield
  • Removable and washable CoolMax liner
  • DOT approved

Nothing else like it
Bought the helmet and just rode 1400 miles on a west Texas trip that I do regularly. All the features worked perfectly and I really appreciated being able to convert the helmet back and forth to full face based on wind and temperature. Didn't get rained on so don't know yet if it leaks. The fit is not large for size as the video suggests. I wear a large in HJC/Harley and the large Shark is a little snug compared. Probably the shape is different. The helmet is heavier than others I have owned, but it didn't bother me. Being able to set the shield and visor in any position is great. The chin mechanism worked perfectly. It rode very well in the wind. Very pleased.

Excellent performance with chin bar down or up
I just finished 1300 miles in two days, 800 on the second day, and the comfort level was excellent all day. During the hotter part of the day, with the chin bar up and the face shield and sun visor down, I had no excessive noise and good air flow. It provided excellent weather and wind protection with the chin bar down. Beware the fit: I measured and was 2 cm smaller than the lower end of the range for a large, but I had to send it back to get an extra large helmet. Revzilla was great and fast with the exchange. The only down side was they sent the new helmet without the removable micro pads that allow you to get glasses on easily. I expect I will order the newer pads, because it was difficult to get sun glasses on with the older style pads.

Outstanding helmet with exceptional features that I find myself using constantly.
After using on a limited basis for two months, I put this this helmet to a rigorous 3,640 mile test over 9 days as we road to, around, and then back from Sturgis. The helmet is comfortable and never produced "helmet itch" even on a couple of 10+ hour days in temperatures > 95 F. I thought I would use it mainly in 3/4 mode, but frequently used full face (Interstate, hard driven twisters, and rain) too. It works great with glasses with the appropriate removable pads removed. Visor detente system facilitates a wide choice of "degree of open" options, including fully open in full or three quarter mode. I expected to go back to my half helmet for shorter, local rides upon returning home, but the flexibility and comfort of my Evoline 3ST has retired my old helmet to a near full time place on the garage shelf.

Good helmet
I like this helmet for its features. I like the fact that you don't have to take it off to talk to your riding buddies or to have a quick drink. Just slide back the shin protecion part and you are good to go. Also great for riding in the city as an open face helmet. The helmet looks cool too.

The things I don't like so much about this helmet are:

I wish the sun visor came down a bit lower. It comes down to the tip of my nose and it is a weird feeling. Because of this, some light still gets in my eyes. I'm getting used to it though.

I also wish the same sun visor was darker. when it's extremely bright, the sun still bothers me and I end up wearing my sunglasses, which defeats the purpose of having the sun visor.

I've been wearing this helmet for a while now, including a week long trip and I still find that it is a tad uncomfortable around my forehead. It always leaves a red spot on my forehead after wearing it for more than 15 or 20 minutes.

Great helmet
I purchased the EVO3 because a friend let me try his. The older models seem to run on the small side but the new EVO3 fits closer to normal. I wear a XL and i nwas able to wear his large, it was too tight, but I expected that. I ride about 20,000 miles a year and this helmet, with the light weight and added features I think I am going to be extreamly pleased. Simply having the chin bar out of the wind when not in use should help with neck strain.

Shark does it again !!!!
Shark does it again with a great helmet. I had the first Evoline it was great helmet. But the new one it just absolutely awesome. The new designed sun shield actually comes down to the bridge of your nose . No more stopping in the middle of your eye line. The comfort and are just as wonderful. The fully rotating chin bar is great. The weather turns or you hit the interstate, flip it around for a full helmet to seal out all the weather and noise. I could go on and on about this helmet but the bottom line is guys and girls, if you are looking to buy it do it you wont be disappointed.

Great helmet with one caveat
I ordered the Evoline 3 based on the look and unique design features. This well-built modular goes from a full face to a 3/4 quickly with one hand. My local stores don't carry it so fit was a gamble, especially because most reviews I found describe a "long oval" fit and say that it runs a bit large. I wear a 7 5/8" hat size and ordered the XL. The head fit is fine, but the cheek pads in the Evoline 3 made it uncomfortably tight on the jaw. Easily removed, however, I snapped the pads out and the helmet now fits great. Everything else about this product is exactly as described, and I'm very happy with it so far.

Stylish, ease of use and highly functional
This is my second Shark Evoline helmet. They keep getting better. The shield works better and while still a bit noisy, it's a great improvement from their first series. It's the best in the market for this style type. If you are looking for a full face helmet that converts to an open air feel, this is your helmet... especially if you ride long routes and want to take a drink or eat without stopping.

We have an Evoline 2 ST now and love it. The only issue with it is that it makes wearing glasses difficult. This new one should make that problem a thing of the past.
David C on Mar 5, 2017
My husband just bought this helmet and loves it - a little tight in forehead for him at first, but he is very pleased with the break-in progress. We live full time in a motorhome, so ride our HD Ultra in different climates. Most of our time is in the South, which made us seek out a modular helmet that would truly allow us to ride with shield/chinbar up when necessary for max air circulation in heat and humidity. What we found is this Shark is the ONLY one intended to ride closed or open.
Pamela S on Feb 23, 2017
Because I can flip the chin bar all the way back so that it is cooler while riding in summer.
Francisco M on Jan 3, 2017
I'll be using it for work (Motor Police Unit) and several other agencies have been using them. They have all said it is a fantastic helmet for work. I figured I'd better give it a shot. Plus I really like the fact that you can use it as a full face helmet, or like a 3/4.
Nathan W on Dec 13, 2016

This is my second Shark helmet...love the 1st Series 3, changing bikes adding fresh helmet. I like the option of having multiple helmets in one. On my long touring trips I use all of them at some point or another. Prefer the open face version, but nice to have a full face in the rain and cold.

I have an Evoline and it is past it's prime. I love being able to convert from open face to closed face. It really suits my needs. I use it as my only helmet. I rode to Missouri, I use it on poker runs I ride it to work and to church. I ride in the heat and I ride into the winter. I have been ready enjoy the upgrades; the space for speakers and the cutouts for glasses. I hope it will fit as well as the last. I know these have a little different shape but I am hopeful that this will fit too!

I noticed that this helmet is not Pinlock compatible. What other fog management accessories would work? I 'm thinking about a stick-on insert like Fog City or ProGrip. I used it in my previous helmet, but it rubbed on the gasket while opening and closing the shield and eventually got too scratched. Does anyone have an experience using stick-on inserts on Evoline 3?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Sorry but I've never had my helmet fog up. I don't know what if anything would help but so far I've not needed it.
Can you ride with the outer visor up, just using the tinted visor?
Paul S on Sep 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes Paul! One of the main reasons I liked (and bought) this modular helmet is because the chin piece actually swings to the back of the helmet and locks in place. You then have the option of wearing the face-shield down, or up...making the helmet act like a 3/4 helmet. Then you still have the option of utilizing the tinted, drop-down visor. All-in-all it's a very versatile helmet that is very protective and comfortable. If you're looking for a modular helmet, this is a good choice.
Is the Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet(s) come equipped with the Bluetooth already installed? Or, is it just ready to accept the Bluetooth equipment?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It does not come with bluetooth. It is built to accept the Sharktooth system (sold separately) with a battery pocket and headphone speaker. The sharktooth controls are attached to the outside of the helmet. I have enjoyed this helmet amd bluetooth system very much. I find it was worth the expense.
Does this helmet have a d ring chin strap or the quick release one like in the video?
Chris L on Sep 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: D ring. Fantastic helmet but the noise is horrendous. I love every feature of this thing but the wind noise.
How comfortable is this helmet for those of you who wear glasses?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I mostly ride with it open so Im usually wearing sunglasses with it. It's perfectly comfortable for me. My wife sometimes wears sunglasses in hers and she had a pinching problem with one pair so she bought another pair of sunglasses that are a slightly different shape and they're great. In other words as long as you have the proper frames it's great
Can I get a diffrent external visor like a smoked one or mirrored I can't find it on the shark accessories?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I don't think you can get a different color extern visor. Why would you want one? Double smoke visors? Mine has been good on both the original and now the 3 ST.
The Evoline 2 was marked as DOT approved, but at least in the description I see nothing regarding DOT. Is the version 3 DOT approved?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I just received my Evo 3 about a week ago and it does have the DOT sticker on the back and the ECE/22-5 rating which is the European testing approval.
My Shoei has a chin curtain which helps during cold weather riding......does this one?
A shopper on Dec 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have the Evo 2 and it does not have a chin curtain, however I don't feel the helmet needed it. The helmet itself is very good in the cold. I ride in 25°F and above and my face stays warm. Hope this helps you and your future purchase.
Anyone have this helmet and use Harley boom connection for radio, intercom and CB?
A shopper on Jun 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I used a Sena bluetooth system on my Evoline 3 helmet. Needed communication with other riders that did not have CB.

I did use the HD stereo headset on the Evoline 2 series helmet that I had before I purchased the 3. It worked great for me. I think the construction of the two versions is close enough that it should work on the series 3.

Hope this helps.
