Schuberth E1 Guardian Helmet
The Schuberth E1 Helmet offers adventure riders a premium modular helmet designed to perform when the ride leaves the pavement. The Schuberth design team developed the E1 in Schuberth’s proprietary aeroacoustics lab, resulting in a helmet optimized for both aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance. Schuberth’s Anti-Roll-Off System keeps the helmet in place, while the removable and washable inner lining allows riders to keep their helmet clean in between adventures.
One of the most innovative features is the fully articulating peak visor, which can be adjusted to three different positions independently from the face shield and chin bar. The E1 can be worn with both the faceshield and peak in place, or riders may opt to easily remove either piece for the ride. The E1 also features a closable air vent in the chin bar to ensure that riders get enough air as the ride intensifies, while a removable and washable filter will help clean the air in dirty and dusty conditions.
The E1 includes a built-in antenna for Schuberth’s SRC-System PRO. Utilizing the latest in Cardo communication technology, the Bluetooth® SRC-System serves as an intercom with other riders and can connect to a GPS unit, MP3 player or mobile phone for navigation, music listening or phone calls.
- Interior liner has been designed with fewer seams and a more universal interior fit
- Improved EPS with integrated antennas for SRC-System which improves radio and Bluetooth range
- Micro-lock ratchet chin strap
- Large reflective panels on neckroll
- Improved faceshield ratchet mechanism
- Integrated sun visor
The outer shell is offered in two helmet shell sizes and combines an aerodynamically optimal shape with excellent protection. It is manufactured using Schuberth's typical compression molding process and thus permits great stability and a low weight.
- Shell material: S.T.R.O.N.G. fiber
- Helmet shell technology from SCHUBERTH permits low weight
- Glass fiber with a special resin added is compressed in a vacuum at high pressure to form a helmet shell which is exceptionally sturdy
- Perfected aerodynamics for higher speeds
- Upward lift = 0!
- Directionally stable
- No oscillatory tendency
- No buffeting
- Spoiler integrated into the helmet shell
The E1 is equipped to accommodate the SCHUBERTH SRC-System (sold separately). To guarantee ideal radio reception, the E1 is already equipped with two integrated antennas to boost FM and Bluetooth reception.
- Optimum reception at all times
- FM and Bluetooth antennas integrated into the helmet for optimum reception
The EPS foam liner is modular in design to ensure optimal shock absorption. This complex segmentation guarantees enhanced force absorption and distribution.
- Made of specially optimized EPS foam
- Complex multizone foaming allows optimal shock absorption
A special inner lining of the E1 was developed according to Schuberth's innovative Comfort Fit concept that ensures the helmet fits comfortably and securely in all situations. The combination of carefully selected COOLMAX and Thermocool materials, with the additional use of Interpower coatings, also make the inner lining a highly-effective moisture removal and cooling system.
- COOLMAX pad system, completely removable and washable (hand wash, 30°C)
- Optimized fit
- Variable venting for effective ventilation
- Adjustable for summer/winter
- Removable comfort cheek and head band pads
Thanks to the design of the vents, the supply of fresh air is increased by up to 60%. The combination of multipath channels in the EPS foam liner and the head/chin/mouth ventilation ensures that fresh air is distributed effectively over the entire head area.
A.R.O.S. and Neck Strap:
The Anti-Roll-Off System (A.R.O.S.) was especially developed by SCHUBERTH as a safety feature and is incorporated into every SCHUBERTH motorcycle helmet. It ensures that the helmet cannot roll off of the head when the chinstrap is closed and correctly adjusted:
- The helmet cannot pivot off the head from behind
- The risk of contact between the chin section of the helmet and the chin or throat of the rider is minimized due to the small angle of tilt
- Reduces the chance of the helmet coming into contact with the chest as the result of an accident
- Precise setting of the chinstrap length through adjustment on both sides
- Micro-lock ratchet lock
The EasyChange visor mechanism makes changing visors extremely quick and simple without the use of tools.
- City position offers maximum ventilation while traveling at slower speeds
- Pinlock visor prevents shield from fogging

Reviews & Questions
Pros: I wear glasses so sun visor was a selling point. Modular works fine. Adjustable peak. Maybe 10% quieter then the Arai.
Cons: Price, no more comfortable then my Arai, would even say less. Heavier. Peak wiggles in 2 lower postions above 50mph causing whole helmet to vibrate a bit, giving off slight blurry viewing, top postion is fine, but catches more wind adn offers no sun protection. Shield does not stay up in open positions. Hwy speeds cause open shield to come down, annoying if you want to leave open. Venting is barely noticeable. Overall, very under impressed with helmet. Will I keep it, yes, the sun visor is great, would i get another, no.

Having just returned from an 18,000 mile 6 month trip with the helmet so I can say it has been adventure tested. Being able to open the face at border crossings, for fresh air, conversation or a drink of water is outstanding. Fit eventually became comfortable though not initially, and the helmet is fairly quiet when the shield is closed.
However, the helmet was an immediate disappointment. The visor fluttered and vibrated at any speed over 50 mph, the two locking tabs for the visor position sheered off after about a thousand miles - and I am meticulously careful with my gear. They seriously need to be manufactured of something other than 1/16" thin cheap plastic. In short order the face shield became so loose it would not stay open at any speed above 30 mph, in any position.
In Alaska, a dealer had replacement parts for the shield attachment plate and a new shield, but in no time the floppy face shield returned which became maddening for the next 6000 miles. The only solution for the problem was to add large thin O-rings between the shield and helmet, and shield and visor - a cheap hardware store solution for a poorly designed helmet.
My previous Arai XD and Nolan X-Lite 550 never had any issues even approaching what the Schuberth does. Both had solid visors with almost no vibration and the face shields stayed at whatever position they were placed in.
I think Schuberth's reputation is akin to the "Emperor's Clothes" tale rather than reality. Fluttering visors, wafer thin plastic in high stress points and a ridiculously poor shield ratchet system have no place on such an expensive helmet.
If driving to Starbucks is your thing, get one, but if you plan on doing any serious adventure riding for any extended time you will have issues that should never occur at such a price.
The only annoying flaw I have found is the ratchet attachment. Unless the helmet chin strap pads are perfectly positioned the buckle cuts into my throat. I am not alone with this issue. When I have had this problem I pulled over and corrected it. Once corrected the helmet is wonderful. I now have used the helmet enough the chin strap issue is no longer a problem.
The exterior sunshade is flimsy. Wish it were more substantial. The sunshade is noisy on the highway so I have removed it and use it when i anticipate riding in early or late poor sun times or riding at sub 60 mph speeds....like dirt roads, etc.
The interior sunshade is fantastic. Covers the entire interior of the face shield. Not close to my face. Plenty of space. Dark, but not too dark. The operating mechanism is simple and easily manipulated.
The fit is true and the interior is very comfortable. the neck roll is no issue and it is easy to get the helmet on and off.
The best helmet feature is the ventilation. The top vents move a lot of air and are absolutely quiet. I have found the flip up/down vent on the front of the helmet useable only at slow city speeds where it flows massive amounts of air. At 40+ mph it sounds like a cyclone. Close the vent and the helmet is eerily quiet. The other vent on the bottom of the face shield comes into its own at 40+ mph and is fantastic as well as silent. Tons of air and absolutely no turbulence or wind noise. This feature alone makes the price differential from the c3 Pro worth the price. On 85 degree days my head is cool and I can feel the air move through the helmet.
Cold weather in Ohio now and the pin lock works perfectly. Zero condensation or interior fogging on cold damp morning commutes.
I would gladly buy this helmet again, however, if you have a large adams apple think twice.

Sun visor and flip up work great. The pinlock visor came installed so saved me the hassle of that. The sun visor works smoothly and just the right amount of tint in the sunny days.
Quiet helmet! I've had Icon and Arai and this is quieter than both.
Pinlock and airflow are great with the humidity, going from sunny side of island, thru tunnel to wet and rainy side, my visor would fog instantly and have had no problems at all with this helmet.
Fits well for me and comfortable with no pressure points digging in. was hesitant to spend this much on helmet but, not after wearing it. rode 1000 miles so far, commuting and fun rides around the island and love it. Seems light for a modular and love the flip up for quick run into convenience store and gas stops while still listening to the music or book.
The quietness is allows the bluetooth to work really well and siri voice commands work at speed, calls are clear and people can't believe I'm on the bike on a call.
Styling is nice, not too loud, kinda sporty, and of course goes with the red on my bike.
Won't be my last Schuberth helmet, I love it.

The biggest issue I have with the helmet is the placement of the chin strap. I have messed around with it a lot, and cannot get it to fit properly. I have owned a lot of helmets and the chin strap has never been an issue, but on this helmet, it really is annoying. It puts a lot of pressure on my jaw.
Overall the helmet is nice. It looks cool, it has a great set of features, and the built in shades are pretty awesome. I still don't understand the price or justification in buying "Adventure" helmets over standard street helmets, except for the fact that you can fit goggles to them (which most people dont). In the future I will just do a dirt bike helmet for trail days, and a street helmet for everything else. These really are just street helmets with visors.
I was so surprised how a quality helmet Schuberth's is.
It fits really well, so easy strapping it on, does not feel claustrophobic, very quiet no need for earplugs, sun visor a big asset. Ventilation is pretty good in warm weather.
The outside has bright reflecting green colors, in my case.
And I like the wind visor's appeal.
A little minus so far: the helmet tends to fall forwards, iow I have to lift it up once in a while!

In spite of being a heavy helmet, it is very comfortable during the use
It is known as Schubert E1 guardian helmet L size (59-60)?
Schubert, you know has been 1cm larger release than any other helmet.
After confirmation, please answer.
If you have any sizing problems, return it to Revzilla and exchange it for another size. Take note that there is a break-in period for the helmet to get more loose. My E1 loosened up by the 12th time I rode with it.
I had a regular C3, but got rid of it because after wearing it for ~1.5 hrs, my left ear would be in unbearable pain. The replacement Schoei Neotec fits great with no pain issues after long distances without removing it from my head.
Apart from the E1 being modular, which you already highlight, it is a redesigned version of the C3, with the addition of sun visor and chin vents. The S2 is a full face (non modular) helmet and is more like a sport helmet than an adventure helmet, so it will be totally different. I expect it will be significantly lighter and quieter than the E1, since the modular design adds both weight and noise... I like the E1, but I was disappointed with both the weight and noise levels compared to the Nolan N103's that I have been wearing until now... I expected much more from the Schuberth at twice the price. The E1 without the visor was still noisy, but otherwise, you can still remove it and you basically have a C3 with extra chin vents. Apart from the above, the S2 appears to have similar features to the E1 in terms of Shuberth construction and safety features. Hope this helps.
