R&G Racing Spool Sliders Yamaha FZ-07

R&G Racing Spool Sliders aid in reducing damage to the swingarm, chain/drive, brake caliper and brake disc in the event of a crash by keeping these core components off the tarmac and out of harm's way! They also double as a lift point for most rear stands.

Each kit is tailored to each bike's specific axle length and/or diameter. The sliders are machined from the same High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) used in R&G's frame sliders. As the HDPE slider wears down in a slide/crash, its high friction qualities help reduce the bike's speed.

Sold as a pair.

Simple Solid Product
Just got these installed on my FZ-07 and am really happy with them. They do what they need to as swing arm sliders but since they're also spools it makes chain maintenance that much easier with a paddock stand. Install is easy, no cons I can think of.

Easiest install on my FZ-07 so far. Just follow the instructions included and tighten the nuts. Don't need to remove anything. Kudos.

Super simple install and quality product
Easy install, product fit is precise. Tested with a rear paddock stand and works as expected. I like the black finish as it looks discrete.

Easy install and does what it's supposed to.
Easy install and does what it's supposed to. The quality of the parts is excellent, but I wish they fit more flush with the axle assembly. Overall, you can't beat the price and quality.

Good not Great
It's way more expensive than it should be but it's really the only option so either this or nothing. Installation was a breeze. After screwing the end nuts on the center rod it's not completely flush though. it's not a big deal but it bugged me. The finish got noticeably nicked the first time I put the bike on the stand. Again not a big deal but for the price it bugged me.

Simple, easy install, does the job
My Yamaha FZ-07 has no pre-drilled holes for spool sliders but this kit fitted my needs and was reasonably priced from a brand I recognized. Installation took a couple of minutes with minimum tools required. So far, satisfied with the purchase.

YOU NEED TWO (2) 10 MM SOCKET WRENCH BOLTS TO INSTALL
YOU NEED TWO (2) 10 MM SOCKET WRENCH BOLTS TO INSTALL. I wish i had knew this before installing it, you need one bolt to hold it in place and the other to thigthen it.

It does the job (as spools for rear stand) and it looks durable enough that it might save the bike in the event of a crash.

But it is Overpriced by a tad bit.

Decent product, bad value
Not sure why this should cost $60. They install easily and are great for the FZ 07 which has no tapped holes for rear spools for use with stands.

But this kit is literally two spools, one long rod, two flat washers and two nyloc nuts. The spools don't even feel very high quality. This kit should cost $15 - and not a dime more. The only reason I bought this is because I had $30 Revzilla Cash to spend.

I need some rear spools to use for a paddock stand, so I can clean my rims and chain as well as perform oil changes and view the sight class on a balanced bike.

I need to lift the rear with spools, but also want sliders. Additionally, I do not feel comfortable drilling the swing arm to install spools.

How do you install this? Does this come with an installation rod?
A shopper on Sep 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The kit comes with the rod and all hardware for installation, along with instructions. It's super simple and all you need is a couple 10mm sockets.
When installed and lift with a support, can I spin the wheel to lube the chain ?
How do you take off the rear wheel?
Sylvain C on Jul 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Spinning the wheel to lube the chain is about all you can do with spools on this bike because there's a metal pole that goes through the axle to hold the spools on. If you want to take the wheel off you'll have to take the spools off and use something that lifts the bike from the swing arm so you can loosen the rear wheel with a ratchet or torque wrench
can you replace the pucks (just buy individual pucks) or do you have to purchase the whole assembly again?
