REV'IT Dayton Jacket

The REV'IT Dayton Jacket takes its inspiration from the winter combat jackets famously worn by US troops fighting in Korea or as made famous by the mod scene and seen on the cover of Quadrophenia. No matter who you want to blame, the popularity of this classic design is due to its functionality. The full length trench lined with a removable 100% polyester thermal liner and a Hydratex waterpoof membrane, the Dayton Jacket takes Jimmy's 1960's scooter punk style into the 21st century. CE certified armor is also included to give you critical impact protection. Suit up for those blustery winter days and give yourself some classic cold weather protection.

Quality Jacket
I bought this jacket about a month ago, because I needed a jacket that was waterproof and a little heavier than what I was using. So far, the jacket has been great. I'm 6', 170 lbs with a 39" chest and the large I ordered is nearly a perfect fit. The jacket is very well made and has kept me warm and dry (40-50 degrees Fahrenheit at 75 mph with a light drizzle is the worst conditions I've ridden with the jacket) without issue.

So far, there are two things that I dislike about the jacket, the cinches on the waist/neck and the way it allows you to tighten the cuffs. It's possible that I'm not using the cinches properly, but it seems to me that they don't accomplish a whole lot, and I'm not a big fan of how they look. As for the cuffs, there are two buttons that allow you to adjust how tight they are. Unfortunately, the two settings are loose and looser, and I struggled fitting the sleeves under the cuffs on my gloves (Cortech Scarabs), and they kept popping out while I rode. These problems are pretty minor to me, but definitely worth mentioning.

Overall, I'd recommend this jacket to anyone who likes its style and is looking for something that they can wear in the winter.

PROS:
-Well made
-Shoulder and elbow armor with a pocket for a back protector (sold separately of course)
-Plenty of pockets
-Doesn't make you look like a power ranger

CONS:
-Cinches don't do much
-Cuffs too loose for gloves with gauntlets

I wear this jacket even when I dont ride!
I bought this jacket because I decided to ride this winter and didn't want to get heated gear. It looks so good that I even wear it when I'm not riding I've been wearing this jacket with nothing but a long sleeve tee and a shirt underneath at temperatures as low as 15, (I recall one of those days it dropped to 9 but I'm not sure) and I was amazed at how much the cold wasn't bothering me. I was wearing some heated gloves I bought on amazon and my hands were freezing but I didn't have that problem with my chest or arms. I recommend this product to anyone that is looking to ride this winter and not look like and idiot in the process.

Be warm when its cold!
I so wish I would have gotten this 15 years ago. When its cold I would always wear bulky sweatshirts and jackets and wind would still come through. This thing is warm and slim, combined with the Rev'it gortex gloves I also bought with a neck protector from A-Star, I am now comfortable at 40 degrees. I commute 17 miles to my job and I ride sportbikes. Ducati 996,1199 and a Ninja ZX6-R

If you wanna ride more often, buy good gear

From Doubt to Love
I bought this jacket (XXL)based on it's protective features and for riding in the rain and the cold. When I got it, I worried about how it fit through my shoulders, and thought it might be an expensive mistake. I am 6 foot and 240 with a barrel chest, but once I got on my GSA and grabbed the handlebars it was perfect (even with all the armor inserts).

I fell in love with it when I rode up to the Choctaw reservation and rode the Talamena scenic highway over the mountains. It was cloudy and 34 with some occasional drizzle. I was wearing an underarmor workout shirt and the Dayton jacket(with liner). My torso never even got chilled. I rode another 5 hours back down to Dallas in 40 degree weather on the interstate and never experienced anything other than toasty arms, torso and upper legs (its a long jacket).

Today I put on a middle weight merino wool base layer under the jacket and rode in 19 degree weather and again had no chill in my arms or torso.

I had no idea i could be this warm without electrics or heat patches.

Bonus: the pictures don't do it justice, it's stylish and I get compliments on it even when I am wearing without riding.

Disadvantage: even without the liner, this jacket makes me sweat if the temp is over 55 or 60.

Pulled the trigger....
Getting cold in the north east. Got caught with the wrong gear and was feeling it pretty bad. Pulled the trigger on this after much deliberation... the sale price of $339 pushed me over the edge. 6'1" and 235lbs. I went for the 2XL, which I wanted to be alright SOOOO BAD, but had to go for the 3XL instead. Definitely a smaller european fit. The 3XL is perfect! Now I can wear a sport coat under it with no worries if needed. Amazing quality technical gear! I feel bulletproof! Pads fall in just the right places. First ride was awesome, This jacket will erase all winter riding!

I'll report back in January after I run it through the mill a bit. I ride everyday of the year, so time will tell! So far, worth every penny! Stay tuned....

Not for leaned sportbike riding
Great fit, style, warm. Two reasons made me return this jacket. Its designed for a upright riding position. If you lean over the tank this jacket is not for you. The last button on the bottom is not rubberized and definitely will rub and scratch the tank which really freaked me out on my 2016 RSVR. The second reason is while leaning, the sleeves expose your wrist. You get cold air coming up your sleeve and after a while in cold weather riding it becomes unbearable.

Good Jacket
I have been enjoying this jacket so far. Have worn for about a month into temps just around 45 so far and have not even felt the chill. I feel comfortable and confident in this jacket so far. I will update the review if this changes into the mid 30 degree weather. This is a bit pricey, but i bought it during a revit factory promo and saved about 50-60 bucks. I have not experienced any negative critiques so far and the jacket also looks and feels premium which is usually the case for most revit gear as i am a frequent buyer of the brand and have been impressed with every piece of gear i've gotten from them. This is a good buy.

Near perfect jacket
This is an awesome jacket, both in function and style. No better winter jacket in looks out there IMHO. Two problems-
1) The hood needs to be removed when riding or the jacket interferes with turning your head for checking traffic.
2) The inner zipper digs into your chest sometimes when riding. Easy fix- just cover the zipper with a bandaid or duct tape, BUT this shouldn't be even a problem in this price range.
Still love the jacket, and will wear it all winter. Only need a t shirt or light long sleeve shirt and still comfortable down to 45 degrees!

I am very pleased with how comfortable it is. You can tell they wanted it to be wearable on and off the bike. Granted it is hard to make a jacket perfectly suited to both worlds.
As a tall skinny rider it has always been hard to find a jacket that fits. At 6'5" 165 lbs. I find that the sleeves are just an inch or so too short, but the design ensures that the jacket will be long enough over the waist.
The liner is effective for keeping you warm, and can be taken out for fall and spring riding. There really isn't any airflow to speak of though so if you are caught in a warm afternoon you're going to be sweating.
I enjoy this jacket a lot, both on and off the bike.

Not Sport Bike look, not Harley etc. look, not adv. rider look. Actually seems to look like a nice parker. And advertised as being warm, waterproof and protective.

I'm a year-round rider and needed something solid, waterproof and super warm for winter rides. Got this based upon a good recommendation from the Reveille CS folks, who did a great job in guiding me to what would work best. Cheers!

I'm thin and tall,l and I want a jacket that doesn't look super short on me. It will be great for the colder season. Stylish enough to wear around even if I'm not riding.

Best jacket I ever had. It does wonders in the winter time. I rode with this jacket on temperatures as low as 10 degrees and I had no problem with keeping warm. Now the Rev'it! Hybrid WSP gloves, as winter gloves they are a joke.

Is there an available temperature rating for this jacket? I ride year round in Boston, and would love something that's both warm and has armor. This seems to fit these requirements, but if it's only good to 30 degrees or so, I may need to look further.
Brian R on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I couldn't find an answer, so I just ordered this anyway. It's warm. Last week I rode about 80 miles up into New Hampshire, it was about 30 degrees, and I saw snow flurries twice. Everything this jacket covered stayed warm. My hands didn't fair so well, but it was colder / longer than my Drystar gloves are really good for. If you plan to ride through the winter, this is probably a safe bet.
Looking for a true 3 season jacket-- what's the temperature range on this?

Trying to decide between this and the Concorde. I read through the winter in NYC. Balls cold; often in the 20s. Between the two, is there a significant difference in warmth or waterproofing?
A shopper on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I was torn between these 2 as well, I went with the Dayton and have not looked back. I never tried the Concorde, but I can ride 5 hours in 30 to 40 degree weather in my Dayton. I rode an hour today at 19 and could have gone longer, but I am heading to the Twisted Sisters and Big Bend this week so I will have more data in a week.
Is the outer shell laminated with waterproof material?
