Pit Bull Pit Crew Tire Wedge

The Pit Bull Pit Crew Tire Wedge is a height-adjustable device that, when combined with a Pit Bull stand, allows one person to easily align and steady a motorcycle wheel and axle for easy removal and installation.

The Pit Bull Tire Wedge can be used with most front and rear Pit Bull Stands made in the last 20 years. It quickly attaches without hardware using a solid press fit. Once in place below a tire, height can be set between 0.75 to 4.9 inches with a twist of its adjustment knob. When adjusted properly, it allows wheel spacers and brake-caliper mounts to line up perfectly allowing the axle to slide in and out without binding - changing a wheel has never been easier.

Features:

  • Zinc plated steel
  • Adjustable height: 0.75 to 4.9 inches
  • Quick-release design attaches without hardware
  • Made in the USA
  • Lifetime warranty

Note: Pit Bull Stand sold separately.

Awesome
This is a must have item that will make changing tires and wheels easier. This beats me trying to use my foot to hold the wheel while I try to install the axle. If you change tires as often as I do,do yourself a favor and get one of these. You won't regret it.

Unmount your own tire easily!
I used to pay a shop to do my tire changes because I really hate changing my own tire. On my scooter it's easy, but on my sport bike, it's a miserable thing to do. I have to squat, get down on the floor, sit on the floor, get ready to get dirty, hands get dirty etc..

With this tire wedge, you just set the height, roll off and roll on! The best part, you don't have to do the "balancing act" when getting the tire back on. Squatting while holding the tire in place and at the same time trying to find the axle. It really is a convenience tool rather than a necessity however, the price I pay for this kind of convenience it worth it.

On another note, you don't need a pitbull stand to make this work. I have a different brand of stands and it works fine.

Your Own Pit Crew
This thing might at first glance appear to be a bit of a luxury. Certainly I thought so, after all I had used various make-shift hunks of wood to do the job. But they were never quite right.

I came across the Pit Bull Pit Crew Tire Wedge whilst looking for captive wheel spacers. And a couple different YouTube videos had mechanics using them. I also quarried some racing buddies that used them, and asked what they thought: 2-thumbs up.

My son asked what 'tool' could be get for me as a present? Out of no where I blurted: "Pit Bull Pit Crew."

This thing is built like all Pit Bull products, shout as a brick out house. They claim it is to be used with only Pit Bull stands, this isn't junk they're spouting. The reason being their stands are make from stouter tube stock than any other stands that I have personally witnessed. The Pit Crew fits VERY snuggly to either front or rear stand - this is a must for the Pit Crew to be effective.

First start by hoisting your bike on a Pit Bull rear stand; if you are also removing the front tire, then you'll need to use your PB front stand. To use the Pit Crew snap it on to your Pit Bull stand. Screw the plastic nob clockwise to elevate the Wedge up tight against the bottom of the tire. At the rear, it's normal procedure of axle nut removal, move to axle adjusters full forward, lift chain off sprocket, and pull axle.

A cautionary bit of advice: if one plans on removing both tires, I'd strongly recommend first removing the front, then go to the rear. Why? Most of us know the real "fly in the ointment" is juggling with the rear, the chain, the wheel spacers and the rear brake assembly, and aligning them up perfectly so as to thread the axle through them. This is when your "occasional tourettes syndrome" rears its head and gets one cussing like a sailor.

One must leave the contraption completely alone once one has the tire/axle off. DO NOT mess with in the slightest. If one followings this simple rule everything will line up nicely once you roll the back wheel back up the Wedge. It is fool proof if one uses captive wheel spacers! No scraped knuckles, no frustration, no swearing. No Wasted Time! Yeah!

So, front off first, last back on; rear wheel last off, first back on when removing both wheels. The front wheel only needs the usual things done: remove calipers, remove fork pinch bolts, axle not, pull axle. Reverse process to reinstall. There isn't as many things to juggle with the front so it is way easier.

Again, don't meddle with it while in use, the Pit Bull Pit Crew will make wheel removal/install a breeze. That's why it (probably) won't work with other make of stands. Too much wiggle room spoils the precise fit (just my thought). This has become one of those "Have to Have" moto-tool items. No less NEEDED than quality spanners, stout work stands, and ample lighting.

Time Saver
I used to use boards under the tire, but they move as I am trying to put tire back on. The Wedge save me so much time with trying to align wheel with rear swing arm, and you don't have to move tire alignment bolts. If you change your own tires, this is a must have tool.

It makes reassembly after tire change immensly easier
Having an easily and precisely adjustable tire lift solidly connected to the lift stand makes reassembly of wheels to bike after tire change or any service requiring wheel removal MUCH easier. Pit Bull says it works only in conjunction with conventional stands of their manufacture and that is best but I have found that with an anti-slip mat under it, it works under every circumstance I have used it front and rear. If you do a lot of tire/wheel work, this is a worthwhile product. Seems built to last as well like all the Pit Bull stands (3) I own.

now changing a wheel is much easier, the spacers doesn't fall out, your foot and arms doesn't get tired holding up the wheel. Now I don't dread changing wheels.

Great idea
For all of us that have blocked and wedged wheels or, worse yet, tried to use the old food wedge, this pays for itself in reduced frustration right away. Lining up rotors, calipers, spacers, etc. is way better.

Wow what a time saver
This tire wedge works exactly as expected. It makes tire changes a breeze. No more trying to hold the tire and aline the axe and rotors at the same time. You take the tire off and install the new one and thats it.

Simplifies and speeds up tire changes
If you have Pit Bull stands, this add-on simplifies and speeds up tire changes. It is a little expensive for what it does, but there is no simpler or more elegant solution.
