Nolan N104 EVO Tech Helmet

The N104 EVO is an update of the N104 and combines technical solutions with an improved level of comfort. Its ventilation system, conceived with AirBooster Technology, now offers better internal climate control in every condition. The (patented) chin guard rotation movement with elliptical trajectory makes it possible to keep the total size of the helmet's front section to a minimum, when the chin guard is open. The "sail" effect is consequently highly reduced and riding comfort is still guaranteed, even when the chin guard is lifted. The N104 EVO is also fitted with an ultrawide faceshield, allowing the motorcyclist to enjoy a wider-than-average field of vision. It also comes with a Pinlock ready anti-fog faceshield. A VPS sunscreen, Microlock2 retention system and set up for the N-Com B5 Bluetooth Kit communication system complete the standard outfit of this stunning helmet.

Shell Features:

  • Injected polycarbonate Lexan shell
  • Two Shell engineering allows Nolan N104 EVO to offer sizes from 2XS to 3XL (2XS-LG and XL-3XL)
  • Dimensionally-correct sizing allows ample cubic volume in chin/nose area

Faceshield Features:

  • Face shields are sized to fit the two different shell sizes (2XS-LG and XL-3XL)
  • Ultra wide eye port opening is the largest on any Nolan helmet for superior visibility
  • Shield is changed by a simple push button mechanism
  • Pinlock shield included with each helmet
  • VPS (Vision Protection System) slider bar to lower the sun shield, push button release for instant retraction
  • VPS lens is scratch and fog resistant

Chin Bar Features:

  • Centromatic chin guard opening mechanism requires dual action, simultaneous action to prevent accidental opening
  • Dual action opening mechanism is positioned in the center of the chin guard and allows for easy, one-handed opening

Ventilation:

  • AIRBOOSTER ventilation system, ensures optimal ventilation where is is most required
  • Air intake in the chin guard draws air in and onto the inside of the faceshield
  • 3 position top vent (closed, crown vent, crown/brow vent)
  • 2 venturi exhaust ports at rear of helmet
  • Plastic vent tube channels in EPS disperse cool air throughout the helmet interior

Inner Liner:

  • Removable cheek pads, inner liner, neck roll and wind protector
  • The inner padding of the N104 EVO is easily removable and washable and antibacterial
  • The shape of the inner comfort padding facilitates eyeglass wearing
  • Reflective insert at the center of the roll neck further improves the rider's visibility at night
  • Neck roll can be removed easily, for more comfort in the warmer months

Other Features:

  • N-Com Communication System-compatible (sold separately)
  • Features Microlock2 quick-release retention system
  • Microlock2 consists of a plastic ergonomic opening lever, and of a second aluminum toothed and holding lever
  • Microlock2 minimizes the possibility of unintentional opening while still making it ergonomic and easy to use
  • Meets or exceeds DOT standards

Great helmet
The N104 EVO Tech was a great purchase. As for the helmet, I wanted to wait a few weeks before reviewing it, but after two weeks I can’t say a bad thing about it.
I did use Nolan’s sizing chart and found that I was in between sizes. I have a 59cm head, so I went down to a medium. Little snug for a few days, but as the helmet settled into my head and fit became perfect. My head is a little square, but Nolan’s head sizing for the N104 Fits great. The things I like the best are the no fog screen insert, the easy locking system, and venting system. All are easily operated with just one hand. FYI, I chose a cheaper intercom/Bluetooth system, the Blinc M2. No issues with installation and the fit was great.

Just crash tested this and it works
I have an N104 evo tech in blue that I bought last year. Most of my riding is adventure-type from high speed highway/interstate down to crawling double track. I'm a huge fan of modular and got this as a replacement for my older Nolan. Fit for me is spot on, tons of visibility, easy to open/close, ratcheting chin strap is a must, and surprisingly quiet for a modular. I had the blue model which is impossible to find anymore. I t-boned a deer at about 50 and the helmet took a few good hits on the right side. Nothing but bad scrapes and my noggin is just fine. In finding a replacement, I'm bummed these are so hard to find. Great helmet!

Great Features
I upgraded from the N103 and I am very satisfied with the N104. The wide visor, improved ventilation and styling are great. The mech for the pop down visor is much improved as well. Really like it.

Great Helmet. Quiet, comfortable, easy to use modular chin.
I love the way the chin flips up...sleek and low-profile. The helmet is comfortable over long rides and installing the nCom system was easy.

Great quality & perfect fit Helmet
My 2nd Nolan 104 and 3rd Nolan. The fit is perfect for me and comfortable all day. The chin lock is great and the overall quality is superb. For the money a great helmet with the new visor, pin lock and improved air flow to mention a few. Plus the N com system is an added bonus.
Only negative is they need to offer more graphics and a hi viz w/graphics as opposed to solid.

Better than shark evoline
This review is for the red and white evo tech helmet. First of all the red matches my interceptor perfectly, which is a major plus. I bought this to replace my aging Shark evoline which served its purpose and I was satisfied with but wanted a step up. In comparison this helmet is I feel much better quality as far as feeling protected. All the functions of this helmet are flawless and I love the ratchet system and will never go back to D-rings. It is still a bit noisy but it is my third modular helmet and so far the best I have owned. It required very little break in time and there are no pressure points on my slightly oval head. My only regret after trying on 8 new models of modulars is that I know it is not the top of the line Schuberth and although I am satisfied with my purchase, next upgrade will be top of the line regardless of price. By the way this helmet looks awesome with the silver mirror face shield added

Nolan helmets fit me perfectly-no pressure points and I love the chin strap locking mechanism. I replaced an older Nolan 102 with the 104 EVO which is a lot quieter, built in sun visor & lighter. Great value for a quality helmet.

I tried on a total of 8 new modular helmets to upgrade from my tired Shark Evoline. This helmet and the Schuberth fit the best. I liked the quality and function of the Nolan over the Shoei. The Corsa Red graphics matched my VFR800 and I didn't want to shell out the money for the Shuberth. Overall it was a good purchase.

My old N104 started having latch problems and so i figured it was time for an upgrade.
David F on Jun 12, 2015
The N104 EVO Tech appears to be a great premium helmet with all the bells and whistles at a moderate price. I also like the larger viewport as compared to other modulars. I chose white for the added visibility. I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Will the sena SMH10 fit on this helmet? If so should it be the SMH10-10 or the SMH10-11>
A shopper on Aug 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The unfortunate answer from what I've seen/experienced is no - the slider for the sunshield isn't able to be used if a clip-on comm device is attached, unless you mount it WAY to the rear of the helmet. Others may have had better luck, but for myself it was a no go.
Does this helmet feel heavy? Is it bothersome when riding? I am looking for answers from riders with a size L or smaller (with the smaller of the two shell sizes).
Cedric B on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Mine is large and is light in weight and quiet for modular type.
The Nolan helmets fit me very well with no pressure points
Shields are heavy gage plastic compared to most so minimal flexing
Only helmet I buy at this point based on quality, fit and price
Only negative is limited multicolored models compared to the overall market from shoei and others
Has anyone used the mic and speakers option with third party radios, like the Rugged Radio VHF-UHF system? What about a cable that will fit to the helmet that can be modified to work with something like the Rugged Radio?

Thanks!
A shopper on Aug 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I got the non-MCS system and used the preformed packets and such to host the Sena SHM10's devices. The speaker pockets in the foam are the EXACT size to accommodate the speakers for the SMH-A0306 clamp kit. The clamp itself had to be sticky-mounted to the helmet (instead of the pinch mount I used on my old N102, and due to the sun-visor lever it's a bit further aft of where I'm used to it. But there's plenty of room to stuff away cables and everything.
How does the fit of the EVO compare to the prior gen n104? What sort of difference, if any, do the updated cheekpads offer? I loved the fit of the n103, but it was too heavy and the n104 was too narrow.
A shopper on Nov 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: iam more than happy with my nolan evo 104 helment it is tight on cheeks which i have noproblems with but this is my first newhelment in 20 years so i am most probably not the best person to ask cheers
I've tried the Nolan N 104 and liked everything about it - except the fit. Too narrow for me and couldn't wear it. The fit of this new 104 evo model sounds like it's the same as older 104.

Has anyway one tried both?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have both, and they fit almost identically. There is more cheek padding in the EVO and is snug in that respect. Personally I like it better, but everyone has different sized heads! BTW, the EVO also has a different pivot mechanism that fixes the original N104 problem of not being able to just slightly crack open the visor. It works...
