Nexx XT1 Raptor Helmet

The Nexx X.T1 combines the comfort of a touring helmet and the light weight construction of carbon fiber with the ease of adding the NEXX X-COM Bluetooth Communication System. The XT1 is equipped with an upper air vent with two input channels with three adjustment positions that are easy to operate even with gloves. The Easy Flow air channels in the EPS combined with the chin guard vent ensure efficient distribution of fresh air around the head. The four air vents , two side and two rear, extract the hot air from the inside. The result is a quiet and cool helmet. The rear spoiler integrated into the shell ensures a smooth airflow, eliminating a large percentage of the upper drive wind and reducing the drag force at high speed. The result: a smoother and less tiring ride.

Note: The XT1 has a fairly long narrow internal shape. It is best for people who need more forehead room but conversely it is less suitable for people who need more room in the ear and temple area.

Features:

  • Full carbon fiber shell
  • Shell-integrated spoiler eliminates upward lift and reduces drag
  • 3 shell sizes: 2XS - XS, SM - MD, and LG - 3XL
  • Wide panoramic field of view
  • Two air intakes and 4 output (Air Dynamic System)
  • Removable, washable CoolMax liner and 3D cheek pads are anti-allergic and wick away sweat
  • Prepared for NEXX X-COM BT system (sold separately)
  • Chin curtain
  • Removable breath guard
  • Micrometric chin strap closure
  • Polycarbonate X-Swift Lexan face shield with toolless Block'N'Seal quick-change system
  • Pinlock-ready face shield (insert lens sold separately)

  • ECE 22-05 and DOT compliant

Note: Cheek pads no longer have emergency pull straps.

Light helmet. Few issues
As mentioned on previous review. The helmet is beautiful and super light. Vision is good and visor snaps in place solid. The size is a bit bigger than expected. Sadly Revzilla does not carry the small pads to make it fit better so I am stuck with a loose helmet until they do. Highly disappointed that Revzilla does not have the pad replacement for a helmet they have carried for few months now. Arrival date for the small pads is unknown. A loud whistle was mentioned: It is true and it is very annoying. When I asked Revzilla if it was a defect, they said rather it is a design issue and not a defect and that they would check with the manufacturer and let me know :crickets: never heard of this again. The whistle maker is the tab used to pull down or up the sun visor. When the whistle starts, I found that pushing the tab down with my finger makes it go away as it breaks the turbulence it creates around the tab. The helmet is also very loud. Lots of wind everywhere but I always ride with earplugs so it doesn't bother me. Airflow is excellent. Better than any helmet I have tried or used (that is also why it is loud. A good trade off). If you can live with pushing down the tab when the whistle starts then it is a great helmet. I gave a 3 on protection and durability because the helmet is too new in the U.S. So there is not enough test time on longevity or protection.

Pleasing For The Price
Bang For The Buck - I paid $360 for a 3lb carbon fiber helmet that does all it should. There are two nagging flaws that costs a star.

Protection & Durability - Too soon to tell for durability and I hope never to find out about protection; however, the padding seems to place the helmet where it should be on my head. One of my other helmets is a AGV K4 EVO and, unlike the EVO the NEXX keeps the chin bar far enough away for a mic.

Features - Sun shield that works covers 97% of my field of vision: (unlike others I’ve tried) Check. Carbon fiber: Check. Pinlock. Check: Fast release, though uncomfortable on my adams apple: Check. Cool-Max: Check. Bluetooth ready: Check.

Comfort - Mostly great! BUT one star off for where the quick release hits my throat (right on the adams apple) plus noise caused from the sun visor lever. Again, the chin bar is off my chin, which is pretty great. The shape fits my Gigeresque sculpted head.

Style - It’s a full face helmet. Looks like it wants to be boy-racer but it is a touring helmet. It has graphics but I don’t care for them. The plastic activators (i.e.sun visor, vent controls) seem cheap. (To me) But everything mostly works and it isn’t awkward…just not to my taste.

Fit - The chin strap on my adams apple costs a star again. I’d call it “race fit.” I only have 200 miles on it but the padding is aggressive. I like that.

Shape - My head is loong and I would like to thank NEXX for making a helmet that fits. For me, there is slight pressure on the forehead but is does not build to pain like the EVO. The shape reminds me of the Joe Rocket RKT101, for those who remember that lid.

Weight - 3lb plus a hair. Feels heavier on one’s hand but about right on the head. I have a neck injury that can’t handle much weight and this lid passes the weight test for me.

Vision - Some distortion from the Pinlock implementation.

Noise - This hurts the overall score: I’d still give 5-stars except for this. Much comment about wind whistle. I have no whistle on my naked bike up to 80mph. I look at it as a well vented $400 helmet, vents make noise unless a company spends a fortune tuning them; however, the sun visor activation lever is an issue. It makes a buzzing noise when the visor is fully deployed (down) over 50mph. I can tweak it with a few taps but I cannot imagine the designers didn’t try the lid over 50mph with the visor deployed.

Air Flow seems good lower, fair high.

Other/General - The chin bar is out far enough to block a my instruments. The location of the sun visor activation lever is not intuitive but I can find it after a few hundred tries.

Very light, good for sporty riding
The Nexx Raptor Helmet is beautiful in the carbon fiber finish. You really need to see this in the sun to appreciate it. The chinstrap buckle system was strange at first, but much faster than D-rings once you get used to it. It flows a decent amount of air, and creates a 'clean space' for airflow in the tucked position. Very quiet helmet on a Yamaha R6. I also tried it on a Yamaha FZ8 and it can be noisy if you are sitting more upright.

Great helmet but noisey
What I liked: it is an awesome looking helmet. Carbon Fiber and Graphics are way cool. I has the ratchet style clasp that I thought I would not like but it turns out that is is comfortable, easy to latch and east to unlatch. Ventilation is much better than what I have, noticed that right away. A great reason alone to upgrade from what I have. Face shield is solid and snaps hard into place. Loved the drop down visor!!. Could not even tell it was there, easy to move up and down while riding. It is light, light light. Can hardly feel it there, very nice. Aerodynamics are amazing, no wind push at all, even when turning my head.

What I didn't like. This helmet is noisy, very noisy. At first I thought I had the visor open or something. Took me off guard. WOW!! And it whistled. Yes you read that correctly. A loud whistle from either the top went or the slide handle to the visor. It was so good in so many areas, but I can't deal with the noise.

The price is fair and the colors tend to go with the bike. I really just wanted to upgrade to something a bit nicer.

Heavier than I expected it to be... but AWESOME nonetheless. I totally love the chin-strap secure, the flip-down visor and the ability to house the bluetooth.

Nice helmet ordered a medium and it fits a little tight, but I think it will break in with time. The helmet is very light and has some good looks to it.

Trying a carbon helmet that is lighter and hopefully quieter and still comfortable.

How does the Sena 20s fit in this helmet. I see that it had an adapter for the smh10, does it work for the 20s?

Has anyone noticed a huge amount of wind noise in the helmet like the reviews say? If so is it a lot more than a normal helmet, and are you wearing ear plugs?
Stitchv on Aug 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It seems that the slot for the slider makes a whistle at certain angles and speeds. I notice it at higher speeds when I look to the right with the visor down. Not sure if it is a whistle or maybe the slider handle vibrating. Not haven't had a chance to think about engineering a solutions. Thinking of put a little electrical tape on the arm of the slider. Must not bother me that much. I do like helmet's air flow, inner visors, and lock down.
Has there been many complaints about noise? i read the reviews and saw the complaints was just wondering if there are more?
Alfred T on Jun 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My replacement helmet has the high-pitched hum. My first one was warrantied because it was positively howling. I have to make that thing stop without losing the function of the helmet. I bought it because of the internal visor. But, if it's down and I'm moving, that lever vibrates. Every so often it picks up to a point that I can't take it and I reach up and touch it. It quits for a minute. Or not. It's a nice helmet otherwise.
is this helmet ready for x-comm ?
Mark B on Sep 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. I have it and have the x-comm as well. They work very well together.
I have a oval head medium , will this next raptor fit me?
A shopper on May 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure but I have a round small head and I purchased the small. It fits pretty snug. I previously owned a medium from another company but it became too loose so I purchased this one. So far I have no complaints. Wish I could have been of more help!
Where is the Kawi-Green version like what's in the vidya?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That version of the helmet is called the Nexx XT1 Exos not the raptor
I"m interested in the this helmet but I'm concerned with the lack of a D ring for the chin strap. How do you secure this helmet to a helmet lock?
A shopper on May 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is not a D-ring on the helmet. However there are several sewn in fabric loops that may work for your style helmet lock. If that doesn't work, you could un-thread the chin strap and add a D-ring then re-thread the chin strap. So then you would still use their fastening system (which by the way is very slick) as well as have a D-ring for use with your helmet lock.
