Nexx XT1 Lotus Helmet

The Nexx X.T1 combines the comfort of a touring helmet with the ease of adding the NEXX X-COM Bluetooth Communication System. The XT1 is equipped with an upper air vent with two input channels with three adjustment positions that are easy to operate even with gloves. The Easy Flow air channels in the EPS combined with the chin guard vent ensure efficient distribution of fresh air around the head. The four air vents , two side and two rear, extract the hot air from the inside. The result is a quiet and cool helmet. The rear spoiler integrated into the shell ensures a smooth airflow, eliminating a large percentage of the upper drive wind and reducing the drag force at high speed. The result: a smoother and less tiring ride.

Note: The XT1 has a fairly long narrow internal shape. It is best for people who need more forehead room but conversely it is less suitable for people who need more room in the ear and temple area.

Features:

  • X-MATRIX shell consisting of multiaxial fiberglass, organic 3D fibers in Aramid reinforcements and carbon fiber
  • Shell-integrated spoiler eliminates upward lift and reduces drag
  • 3 shell sizes: 2XS - XS, SM - MD, and LG - 3XL
  • Wide panoramic field of view
  • Two air intakes and 4 output (Air Dynamic System)
  • Removable, washable CoolMax liner and 3D cheek pads are anti-allergic and wick away sweat
  • Prepared for NEXX X-COM BT system (sold separately, no longer available)
  • Chin curtain
  • Removable breath guard
  • Micrometric chin strap closure
  • Polycarbonate X-Swift Lexan face shield with toolless Block'N'Seal quick-change system
  • Pinlock-ready face shield (insert lens sold separately)
  • Internal drop-down sun shield with 80% tint
  • Integrated spoiler
  • ECE 22-05 and DOT compliant

Note: Cheek pads no longer have emergency pull straps.

Very good helmet with minor gen 1 issues.
I've had the XT1 Grid since July 2014. Yea Customs import forms are fun........
Overall I really like the helmet and have worn it every day since July so it's got some miles on it. (I don't have a car so lots of miles rain or shine#
It's a little noisy with the visor flipped up or if you’re not in the 3/4 position. #semi head down into the wind#
Vision out is very good.
Vents are well placed. The front vet pushes air around your face and the top vent flows well and cools the top of your head. On hot days it can get a little warm #or it could be that my helmet is black#
The visor fogs fast with everything closed but the included pinlock fixes that. The side pins are just in view so it's not too bad. The pin locks can give off halos at night from headlights but it's not bad.
The sun visor rocks! Every helmet I own has one and it is one of the best ones yet. EZ to use and comes down just enough so the edges are out of view.
The helmet has zero rain issues but you will 100% want the pinlock in or some other form of anti-fog with all the vents closed.
The ratchet strap rocks as well. Zero issues.
The rubberized black coating and paint has held up well these past 7 months. Paint looks new and it cleans up fast.
The inner liner is ez to get in and out to clean and has held up well. Some of the foam shell can be seen looking into the helmet and the black paint has a few bare spots so it can look a bit getto. Mesh would make it look better but it would probably block some of the awesome top venting.
Now the bad.
Both guide pins on the main visor broke in Jan. The plastic pins are there but the "discs" at the end both snapped. It's a front lock pull up/down so it puts stress on those discs every time you open and close the visor. The more I think about it the more I think this will happen over and over. I am going to drill them out and use screws like the pin lock has.
These discs are also very sensitive to visor bumps which is what I think broke them. Pushing the visor down with a gloved hand while driving may have slowly cracked these.
The visor still works but if you don't pull out while closing the "broken/disc less pins" will track outside of the groves and leave the visor cocked open on one side.
Getting the visor off is a bit old school compared to say a Scorpion twist lock. #Currently my favorite visor lock design#
The Xcom. I mine from the UK back in July so the issues may have been fixed but I was really disappointed with the unit.
Fits the helmet perfectly with all the pockets in the right spots. It's one of the best in helmet setups I have seen south of the $1K helmets.
Unfortunately the system itself. WOW.
All I will say is my own head would block the Bluetooth signal to my phone in my front pocket and when it did work the sound was lacking. I used a Galaxy s3 and 5 and simply placing my hand over the rear of the helmet would cause the music to stop. It's got all the right ideas for an in helmet system but at least for me they just don't work so I have my #other brand# attached to the door that holds the Xcom.
Overall I recommend this helmet for its look, feel and vision but the visor pins need a rethink. The Xcom unit was a huge let down so I hope some work went into that unit as it made its way to the US. My helmet and Xcom came from the UK as soon as I found a shop that would sell it overseas.

Sings like a jet engine
I have the LG XT1 Lotus. My first one would sing like a jet engine past 30 miles per hour. Around 60 mph, the noise inside the helmet was so loud that I'd swear people could hear it. I know it's not possible, but it was loud. My first ride with it was a 25 mile ride home from my winter storage spot. When it would start singing, I'd turn my head. Whenever I turned to my left, it would stop. Straight or forward and it would spool up again. I tried opening and closing vents, visor and the sun screen. That made for a long ride. I finally figured out on the second ride that it is/was the sun visor's exposed lever. It vibrates in the airstream. Revzilla took it back for warranty and I have a replacement. It does it as well. However, this one starts out as a slower thrum but will accelerate to a higher pitch if I don't put my thumb on it. It's much less than the first one but it still gets annoying.
Other things beyond the resonating visor lever are the same niggles as other testers/buyers have mentioned. The visor is borderline ludicrous on the notch positions and stiffness. The visor has a what now seems like a too small finger tab dead-center, directly above a button to release it. You have to push AND HOLD the button while using what seems like 2 hands to overcome the first notch to open the thing. Design-wise, fail. The button doesn't provide opening, just release of the lock. The button is a momentary type - if you don't hold it down while lifting the visor, it doesn't stay unlocked. Adding to that, the proximity of the button to the tab on the shield is so close that I can barely discern the tab WITHOUT a glove on, much less with a glove. The tab needs to be .75 inch wider than the button or protrude .5 inch more. Intuitive approach to opening the shield comes from the bottom of the chin bar. But, I have better luck in fewer attempts if I put my arm up in the air, reach down over the top of my visor, push the button with my index finger, and search for the visor tab with my middle finger. That's how this thing gets opened. Or, use two hands after I stop and get it in neutral. Yes. It is very awkward. But, that's how it is. The first notch from closed leaves a big opening. Sometimes I just want to crack the shield for a little vent. Not happening with this one. My comparison helmet is a '98 vintage Arai RX7-RR. The visor pops to lock and pops to unlock. The opening is by friction/drag. Simple. Genius. Not awkward.
I like the helmet design, fit and propensity for the integrated Bluetooth communicator. I like it enough to keep it if I can figure out how to work the visor and make it stop singing to me. I actually have a matching XT1 for my passenger. I don't think she has the problem because she sits lower and out of the airstream. Please believe that I like the design, fit and options of this helmet and I earnestly want to keep it. I'm not ready to give up on Nexx yet. But I also don't want to hate it if I get it on a day-long ride on the interstate.

Amazing helmet!
I ended up getting the white/yellow version just for the visibility factor. The helmet is very nice looking. There were a few small specks on the helmet under the clear coat of the paint but not a huge deal. I ended up getting the Nexx X-Com Bluetooth Headset from Europe because it was out of stock at Revzilla. It installed with no issues. The helmet vents nicely. I did notice that the helmet will ding easily. For example, I accidentally bumped it on a corner of a wood table and noticed the ding on the helmet. Overall, I'm very happy with the helmet.

Really narrow
I don't have much to say about this helmet because I had to return it because it really was a lot narrower than I expected, it folded my ears in and I couldn't get my glasses to fit securely inside the helmet. The fit and finish were really nice, the drop down shield inside was pretty close to my face too but it was full coverage, the shield came the whole way down, at least way farther than on any of my other helmets.

Great helmet, but also very loud at highway speeds. Air circlation is great and the built in visor is excellent. Dont think I will ever buy another helmet without a built in visor. Eliminates the need to carry a second shield.

I'm hoping the long oval shape will fit, but otherwise it seems like an awesome helmet all in all. Choice was made headache-free due to a more than awesome video review here at Revzilla. What I would have liked to see in the reviews were correlations between actual head sizes and how the helmets fit. All heads are different, but actual numbers would give that extra edge in decision making. I'm sure going to include it in my review when I get the lid!

How does this helmet compare to the Shoei RF-1200 for quality and noise?
Jonathan L on Jun 9, 2016
I currently have a helmet that so poorly design it directs airflow from my chin into my eyes. (even with a wind stopper)

Is this helmet an wind free zone inside?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The short answer is yes, however the amount of wind noise from the upper vent may annoy you. I notice a rather loud whistle when I turn my head left or right from the housing surrounding the forehead vent. The chin skirt and nose shroud are easily removable for more air, some times to easily removable. The fit for me is very good based on the sizing chart. A D ring for securing the helmet would have been nice as opposed to having to strap the helmet through the face Sheild. Finally the visor hasn't yet fogged on me and the sun visor comes low enough to block most all the reflections and direct sun.
