Excellent DS helmet
I rode to work with the XD1 for the first time today. When I left the house, it was 47 degrees and as predicted, it fogged every time I came to a stop. It did clear off pretty quickly when moving though.

Unlike others have reported, I didn't note what I would consider an excessive amount of air on my face. I could feel outside air, but I didn't think it was horrible. I think the off-road vent will be the ticket for hot months.

Comfort was excellent. I mean really nice. It is snug, but I didn't note any hot spots. There is plenty of clearance at the ears which is where my C3 annoys me.

Noise was more than the C3, but not horrible either with the vents closed. When I opened the vents, it got considerably louder and I really didn't notice a big difference in cool air on the crown of my head. I might look at the EPS liner to make sure it is actually passing air and isn't clogged.

Visibility out the front and sides is fantastic. Great peripheral vision.

The peak is really nice. I put on the extension and have it extended all the way out. I didn't notice any excess vibrations or buffeting. Head checks at 80 were easy. I do ride a 1200 GSA so I do have good wind protection behind the wind screen but even still, the peak didn't get in the way of anything.

Now for the less than ideal... the drop down sun shade is too small. I really wish it came down a lot more. It creates a line across my vision right through the middle of my instrument cluster, requiring me to look down to see my speed. There is also a little distortion at the edge of the sun screen. On the sides, it is more obvious.

The sun shield is the only real concern I have so far. I think I'll get used to it but it is annoying. Overall though, I am quite happy with it. I'll be a lot happier when I get the Pinlock and can get the X-Comm.

Nice Helmet, Excellent Value
I Just received this today and after making sure the fit was proper I decided to take it out for a short ride to see how it worked. The Temp was 82 and the humidity was around 80 percent and I can say that I was a little warm while standing still but once I got up to speed the ventilation was good and although there was noticeable noise from the vents it wasn't unacceptable.I also noticed that there was really no buffeting for the speeds I reached and so far my initial impressions are really good.

I ordered an XL based on several other helmets that I've owned in the same size (Scorpion EXO 700 & BiLT Explorer) and it fits similarly once on. It is a little tight when you put it on and take it off and while removing it I actually popped the cheek pad loose. It took me a few minutes to figure out that it had separated emergency style and that I had to remove the still inserted tabs from the helmet and re-attach them to the cheek pad before I could put it back together.

Other than the tight fit while putting it on or removing it the fit is great, It has a perfect snug but not tight feel and is not loose. It is very comfortable!

This is my second purchase from Revzilla and the first keeper. The first purchase was for another helmet the Lazer that did not fit me at all. Revzilla was a pleasure to work with and the gladly accepted my return. I must say I am very impressed Revzilla! You have excellent customer service!

Excellent noggin protector
Looks are some of the best in the market right now. Turns heads and makes you look sexy.

Has good rubber edging that flares out and produces comforting down force to keep head position neutral and unstrained at high speeds of 80+ mph.

Visor tends to fog at stationary, but there is a cool "anti fog" recessive position for the visor when just flipping it down. Gets a perfect crack for air to pass through and vent your face during hot times.

Mouth vent is one of the most convenient and good looking vent openings in any helmet ever. Slap your mouth to open, slap it again to close. Comes with a supermoto dirt mesh cover substitute for desert riders.

Has a swiveling removable go pro mount platform adapter for the top, and removable quick goggle hardware for the sides. You can remove the sun visor toollessly in 1 minute.

Fit is a little snug, but the cheek pads are belled out at the bottom to grip onto your jaw in a non visegrip fashion. Really solid fit, no helmet roll or sliding.

Cheek pad fabric in my opinion is a little rough compared to 707, BILT, or bell helmets, but it stays relatively cool and smell free.

For those with SENA headsets with the thin wire routable mic, there is a cool X shaped plate in the mouth box that let's you mount the mic down in your mouth region. Really cool feature.

Gloss shell attracts light scrapes and dirt.

Visor plastic is super solid. Pretty thick but provides excellent vision and clarity as well as peripherals.

Sun visor is hard to find at first, but if you have gloves on, just generally swipe the left top part of your cranium and it deploys. Pretty sure its designed to be that way.

D rings are slightly narrow and strap extra long, so a very tightly clasping a secure helmet. Underpass for the straps are freely hanging so its a little difficult to get the padding to situate under the chin comfortably.

Seal on the visor is excellent. No water leaks. Vents give more than necessary air flow.

Emergency cheek pad removal tabs are good for safety. Routing sena wires is a breeze.

Has cutouts for com system speakers with Velcro circles already set in.

A great buy for the features and money!
I purchased the XD1 to use on my KTM 1290 SA, So far i love it but it has a few small issues that I'll mention. I also purchased with it the Nexx X-com modular system to integrate with my iPhone, Nav, and radar detector which it does seamlessly.

- The noise level is bad in this helmet but in Nexx's defense I do not know of a single ADV helmet that isn't. It's the nature of the design.
- The extra long chin strap is annoying as there's a lot left after you cinch it up so if you forget to snap the strap you'll have a long tail flopping around.
- After I installed the Nexxcom the headliner in the back keeps popping out. Minor issue but still annoying.
- If you purchased this helmet, plan on spending another $50 on the pinlock shield. This faceshield fogs super easy and is a real problem. So look at it as a $550 helmet, not a $500 helmet.
- Visibility is wonderful!
- Airflow through the vent rocks.
- Quality of the finish on the helmet is awesome.
- The features make this helmet a buy in this price range,
- I love the integrated sun visor!

All in all, I would buy another one in a heart beat and since Nexx teamed up with Sena and it basically has a s10 that snaps in, why didn't they just go for the next gen S20 with a who lot more features?

Overall Decent Helmet
I don't have much to compare this to but here are my thoughts.

I use the Sena SMH10 which can be a pain to mount on this due to its existing mount. I managed to get it on there and it'll hold but it's not perfectly flush. Cut outs for speakers for intercoms as well which is nice.

Padding comes out super easy and is also super easy to get back in. Which is also a problem. The padding snaps into place and also has to be tucked into the helmet. There is a flat plastic piece that slides inbetween the outer and inner shell and "locks" into place. Everytime I pull the helmet off I need to slide it back into place as the plastic piece does not stay put. Not a huge deal but does get a little annoying and makes me wonder how it would hold up in something serious.

My other concern is when I first started using it on real trail rides I could hear a cracking noise. Almost like glue cracking. I figured it would go away after a few rides but it hasn't. (been using it about a month now) Again, not a huge deal but does make me wonder how it will hold up.

Over all this is a pretty decent helmet. Paint is awesome and definitely get a lot of looks as I'm riding.

Would I recommend the helmet to a friend? Yes I would. Would I buy it again? For $500 probably not.

Good lid, not exemplary.
Did a few days ride with this helmet last weekend and it did very well. At highway speeds for extended periods I could feel pressure on my upper forehead and it was a little uncomfortable. This may have been caused by riding with the visor on at highway speed. On twisty mountain roads it was excellent. Helmet was a snug fit once on and didn't wobble. The ears are tight! I had to use my glasses to poke my ears and get them to unfold with the helmet on. The drop down sun visor could stand to come down a little further but it's OK and works well. Surprisingly aerodynamic even with the sun visor attached. Bucks the wind well for a dual sport helmet. I really like the ability to change out parts without tools. Really wish NEXX didn't put a pocket on there for the com unit. It gets in the way of adding better systems like the 20S. My 20S fit, but I can't flip the antenna up or pull the unit off the mount to charge it. It needs to be charged while on the helmet. Putting the helmet on is difficult and can be painful when the helmet is new. I wear the medium and it seems like it would help if there was a medium shell size. With a pinlock installed, I had no problems with fogging on warm, wet, humid days or in the rain.
The build quality is not on par with Shoei/Arai/Schuberth and for $500 I was hoping for a bit more. All in all, I feel like this is closer to $350-$400 helmet even with all the swappable parts.

Great helmet if it fits your headshape
I was hoping the new Nexx helmet shape would work on my "long oval" head shape but unfortunately it put too much pressure on my (apparently large) forehead. Beautiful helmet, great fit and finish. The orange and black one matched my KTM like it was made for it. Wish I could have kept it but had to send it back. Previous helmets that fit me well: Shoei X-11, Shoei GT-Air.

Its a love hate relationship but no divorce planned.
It looks good, its light, its has every feature you could want. I love it, but... I'm having a serious issue with the cheek pads coming loose when I take off the helmet. Some of the reviews mention that its is a little hard on the ears getting this helmet on and off. I can handle that, but having the cheek pads come off the retainers is a real pain. Sometimes the retainer, the thing that snaps into the outer liner, also pops out and I've had them fall out of the helmet. Lucky to not have lost one yet. I'm going to velcro the pads in, but this might defeat the emergency pad removal system. I'll say I recommend it, and hope you don't have the same issue. So besides that...
I wore this helmet at the Touratech Rally, in 100F weather and it was not too bad. True you can't feel much air on the head, but the face gets a lot of air without the chin curtain. I was using goggles off road which helps.
Really love the field of view and the clarity of the face shield. I wear prescription sun glasses so I don't use the internal sun shield.
Road several hundred miles on highway with the sun visor on, sometimes its buffeting when behind a big rig or if there is a headwind, but not so much that it was worth removing it. I don't often ride over 70 MPH or it might be a different story. Noise level is not great, wear ear plugs on the highway.
Comfort is below my Shoei GT-Air, but good after a few hours of break-in. For me, sizing is similar to Shoei. I measure L, but XL is what fits.

Premium Helmet
This helmet is definitely a premium helmet, fit and finish and light weight. It felt maybe a bit snug but after a few miles fit is good. I also have the Arai XD but the NEXX XD1 feels like it would be more protective due to the padding and fit.

My favorite helmet so far
In the past I have typically worn Shoei helmets as they tend to fit me better than some of the other brands and they are well made. The Nexx XD1 had all of the features I was looking for, more so than the comparable Shoei. So I decided to take a chance on Nexx. The XD1 has exceeded my expectations. It is well made, surprisingly light, fits me perfectly, good ventilation, flip down tinted visor, easily switched from road (no visor) to dual sport (standard setup) to dirt use (no face shield, goggles and open chin vent). Plus it is truly headset ready with recesses for the mic, speakers and control unit. Highly recommended.
