Great dual sport/ adventure helmet, but one major issue for me
Quality build and material. The visor snaps and seals tight and when open is completely out of your field of vision. The built-in sun shield is a nice feature, though looking through the shade makes things a little low contrast and murky. Optically, I wish the sun shade was a little better. But it's very convenient.

I had an AGV AX-8 before and this XD1 feels as light. It's really great to have a lightweight helmet especially on the really long days.

It's relatively quiet to me though I always wear ear plugs so hard to say for sure. I don't have the peak extension on yet, but so far there's no vibration or wind pulling from the peak.

The high-viz is bright! Seems like I have fewer cars pulling out in front of me now. I used to think high-viz was kinda dorky but the styling on this helmet gives the yellow some attitude and authority.

Overall I really dig this helmet except for one HUGE, ANNOYANCE (it's almost as annoying as TYPING IN ALL CAPS). The fit is great once on, but the cheek pads hug so tight that you don't "put" the helmet on so much as you "apply" it to your head. When I take the helmet off, the cheek pads scrape my face and dislodge from the emergency release clips. I have to reseat them every time I put the helmet back on. It fits fine once it's on and I can wear it comfortably all day but this is super annoying. Anyone else have this issue?

I'd give it 5 stars but for this dislodging cheek pad problem.

Very Good Lightweight, Hi Vis Dual Sport Helmet
I purchased this helmet after comparison shopping it with the new Schuberth E1, Shoe Hornet DS and Arai XD-4. I chose the Nexx XD-1 for its price, light weight, Hi Vis color, and built BlueTooth communicator technology. The Good: The helmet shape is correct my my head, I expect it to wear in nicely. It's lightweight is easy on the neck for long rides. The built in blue tooth communicator is easy to use and the speakers are excellent. Visibility is excellent and the built in sunglasses really help in the afternoon sun. My head stayed dry during a 4+ hour ride in a steady light rain. The Bad: Airflow is minimal - I have not used in it hot conditions yet and do not know what to expect. Noise level is average and the bluetooth antenna inside the helmet rattles at speeds over 60 mph. I will continue to wear ear plugs. The lining is designed to be easily removable in the event of an emergency, but it does not stay put when taking the helmet off. I corrected this with some two sided tape to keep the cheek pads in place. I rate this helmet very good and expect to get several years of use out of it.

Pretty nice helmet
I am super picky when it comes to helmets. For me its all about comfort first. I typically wouldn't spend this much on a helmet, but after comparing this to the AFX 39DS and HJC DS X1, I would say this helmet is definitely superior.

First off, the helmet is definitely lighter than the other helmets I tried. I rode for about 4 hours with the helmet and never had any neck fatigue.

This sizing is spot on.... at least for my head. Compared to the other helmets, this one did not feel like my head was being crammed into a funnel. What's also cool about this helmet is that they do give you some extra small padding pieces you can use to customize the fit of the helmet.

I will say the padding around the jaw area was at first an area of concern. However, I realized if I adjusted the helmet by pulling the chin down a bit the padding fit better around my jaw. Plus after about an hour of riding, I didn't notice it anymore. Obviously, everybody's face is different.

Ventilation works well. I like that they give you a removable vent grill for the chin vent. Nice touch.

Fogging - I realized there is a good solution to this problem. BREATHE WITH YOUR NOSE! While there was limited fogging right out of the gate, when I breathed more with my nose, there was no fogging at all.

The only real gripe with this helmet (outside of being $150 more than I normally spend) is the instruction pamphlet they give you for installing the different parts and pieces. The photography is lighted very poorly so you can't see what they are referring to. And, unfortunately they rely heavily on the pictures versus written instructions.

One final note on the chin pads falling out... Not a problem anymore. I think the newer models have resolved this issue.

Overall its been a great helmet... Little painful on the wallet, but I think worth it.

Great Helmet with some flaws
Let me start off by saying I'm coming from a Biltwell Gringo with bubble shield so everything I read about the XD1 not being very quiet or the peak having wind buffeting issue I thought it could not be worse than a retro bubble. Wind was obviously not as loud as in my Gringo, but it still gets loud over 60mph. But with ear plugs it's a non-issue. Same as the buffeting. Under 70mph it's alright. So overall this helmet is great if you are logging country miles. Not so much if you are doing lots of highways.

The vision I get with these. Wow! Never had such wide peripheral visions before. Definitely get the pinlock. I don't have one and it started fogging as soon as it rained.

There is a ton of airflow which could be good or bad. On hot days it's great. One cold days I kept checking all my vents to make sure they are closed and I'm still getting wind.

Love the sun visor. Yes, it does cut off where your bike's instruments may be but it's not really an issue for me. Just need to tilt my head a bit. How often are you staring at your bike's instrument panel anyway. So easy dropping and popping up the sun visor I'm getting spoiled.

The cheek pad. I popped it out once. Almost couldn't get it back on. It's a bit tricky. Almost scared to get bluetooth in the future coz I don't want to pop it out again. That's my main gripe with this helmet. Also the chin curtain feels like it just want to slip off every time I take the helmet off.

One important note about fitment. The cheek pad are so tight!! I initially ordered the Medium but ordered a Large coz I couldn't keep the helmet on for more than an hour. My cheeks were being squeezed so much I had an headache from pinched cheeks. The large came, the cheeks felt a lot better but the head fitment was loose. So I put the Medium back on again, and surprisingly, the cheek pads conformed and became bearable. Now it's super comfy.

If you can live with those things, it's a very comfortable, stylize, well made helmet overall.

Beautiful helmet
Got the helmet before my 1400 mile California coast ride. The Hi-Viz yellow is EXTREMELY bright in color, and everyone, including my cruiser bike friends remarked how nice looking the helmet is. The ventilation is good, not great and it is very comfortable. I had no "dual sport lift" and really didn't notice any problems associated with the visor. The one thing that sucks is that one of the two top vents buzzes in the wind. I can hear it even with my headphones in.

This Helmet rocks!
This is my 4th helmet. Coming from an Icon Mainframe(loved it), Scorpion EXO 1000(Hated it), Nolan N84(Liked it) and now this one Nexx XD1.

First impressions: Features and gear for cameras are cool and light. Fit and finishes better than all my other helmets. I do have a windscreen on my Triumph Explorer, I have no buffeting with the peak on. I can look around when riding and have no issues with wind and the peak even traveling at 80mph. The helmet is kind of noisy when wearing no hearing protection. I got the Day-glo color and the picture that's advertised, does nothing for the color. It's super bright.

The helmet runs small, I'm a 57 and it calls for a medium. Tried it and the helmet pinched my ears, opted for a large and is perfect. It is slightly narrow and very narrow when putting it on/off. The extended peak screws on and it's "extremely fragile". It crumbled in pieces where it attaches to the visor for me, so be careful with that. It's lighter than all my other helmets; but, when wearing it I can't really tell. Ventilation is good. The front vents are the only ones that can open and close and are hard to operate due to the shallow covers. The internal sun shield is dark enough for me. I'm happy with the helmet thanks Nexx and Revzilla.

Dual sport noise, Shoei comfort
At first is was like yeah I'll buy it looks great and has good features. Then I was like woooo hold on. Then I found a tourtech one locally and was like yeah okay I'd buy this. Then I ordered the Hi-Viz (pictures don't do it justice). I literally was asked about it on my first stop after leaving home.

Noise- It's quieter than other review mad it out to be. It does like to whistle with the top vents open.

Visor- Solid as thick plastic rock. Seriously it's good. The extension seemed flimsy and find it's way into a drawer personally.

Fit- Fit was spot on. My previous helmets were a Shoei Hornet and RF 1100.

Quality- The quick release plastic bits kinda scare me but they stay in so far so good. There was some creaking from the impact stuff which is only slightly annoying at a stop

Overall- I'd buy this helmet again based on my initial rides. The only thing that would turn me off is durability but only time will tell.

I went ahead and skipped the graphic version and got the pinlock totally worth it i cant fog up the visor if I take the sucker in a hot shower

Killer helmet
I decided to go with a lesser known brand (I believe this a Portuguese brand) because of all the features at a $450 price point. I'm really glad I did!

Being a supermoto guy, I went with the XD-1 because of it's ability to transform into 3 different styles (offroad, enduro, street), it's safety rating is both DOT and ECE, hi-viz neon yellow, which I feel people see me better in (or at least San Diego drivers have been on good behavior lately), and it just looks pimp!

I won't go through every single feature as the description does a good job of that, but also for me, I love the drop down sun visor, so I can leave my shades at home. It has a couple strips of retro-reflective material when you convert the helmet (take visor off) into street, which is really cool for night riding.

I was worried about the padding coming out when taking off the helmet as other reviewers have noted, but I haven't run into that yet.

Definitely measure the circumference of your head to get an exact fit. I decided to go with the medium and it's a little tough to get on, but comfortable when on and I imagine it will get even better once broken in.

All in all I'm super stoked I went with this hel and I feel it will provide max protection in a spill situation.

Bad experience
I bought this helmet and my experience was not good, because during the rain the water came through the visor. It also does not come as shown in the picture with the safety straps on the pads, the pads have the connectors glued and can not do the emergency function.
I am very annoyed and disappointed with this purchase.
