Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Rear Tires
Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires add two-compound technology to the already renowned Pilot® Power range. While 2CT technology originated in MotoGP racing, Pilot® Power 2CT tires are intended for the most demanding sportbike riders, who use their bikes both on the road and for track days. Its tread surface is divided into three separate areas, incorporating two different rubber compounds. This helps provide numerous benefits in terms of dry grip, lean angle, handling and progressive acceleration and braking on wet surfaces.
- Real Moto GP technology from the tire company that has won 15 consecutive GPWorld Championships
- 20% softer rubber mix on the edges of the tread yields phenomenal cornering grip
- Unprecedented lean angles: 51.2 degrees in the dry on Michelin's test track
- Precise handling and feedback
- Track Day tire that is equally at home on the road

This set of 2cts is one of few excellent sets that offer the best riding experiences. A lot has changed since switching from the stock Dunlops; like stepping in to a different universe.
Improved handling; IMO my zx6r is much more sensitive now than before. It doesn't take much effort in fact none to lean through cornering. Increase confidence; I was always cautious before entering a corner, almost afraid that I might lose the back end. I've made some mistakes but the 2cts are somewhat forgiving because of that softer compound on the sides and they stick well. Once or twice now I was coming through a corner and suddenly had to slow down. Well, one lesson I've learned is not to slam on the brakes, so I downshifted. The 2cts slid for a "a bit" and caught grip instantly coming down from 4th to 2nd in dry conditions. As for wet conditions, I don't want to push the limit there :P However, ridden once or twice in the wet both on stock dunlops and the 2cts...60 on a corner 2ct wins.
The only downside to this or maybe not is its truly meant for cornering than straight stretches. So don't drag race smh :P as I did many times. I'm left with half maybe less tread in the middle hard compound of what is left in the shoulders (see pic).
Dry traction is great, never had a problem. Don't have any idea about the wet traction, haven't ridden in the rain much with the bike.
A quick thing to note, these are VERY sensitive to tire temperature I've found. Don't go and drag knees until you get some heat in them.
Overall, I would and am planning on buying them again. Only downside is they don't last super long, but you don't buy these to get 10k miles out of them. You buy them because they grip like a banshee.
My 2003 Yamaha R6 feels so agile now in the corners I put about 150 miles on them so far and they still have the Vent Spews on them!
I haven't had a bike in many years but with the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT'S on my R6 I'm starting to get my confidence back!
I'm sure i can max out the chicken strips in no-time! They have great feedback as-well,
I will definitely be buying them again! Revzilla is my new favorite online Motorcycle store.
Sorry for the late and probably irrelavent answer by now but I honestly haven't ridden these tires in rain/wet conditions. Damp conditions yes and I would give them a very good rating, however when it's raining/wet pavement I tend to dial it back anyway. In dry conditions these tires in my opinion are also very good. The Power 2ct's are also suppose to be a longer lasting tire. I wasn't much impressed with that. I got less that 4000 out of the rears. Keep in mind a tire's mileage soely depends on riding style. The more aggressive you are with engine braking and accelerating you can expect to get less mileage out of your tires. I consider myself a "Spirited" rider but certainly not a knee dragger.
I need to buy rear tire for my 2009 Yamaha R6 and I am thinking between Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Rear Tire and Michelin Pilot Road 2 Rear Tire. I dont go on race track, i am just ridding for fun.
Can You please, tell me more about difference between these two tires and which one would you recommend?
Thank You, Milan
I did have a low speed lowside on the Road. Did I screw up the corner? was my tire cold? Would the Power have made a difference? I really can't say, but I have decided not to compromise, I ride for deep corners so I get the tire that is best for that, the Power. If I was ridding for distance I would get the Road 2.
So the question is what do you want to do with it? If you ride to ride hard and are scrubbing off your chicken strips get the Power, if you are going the distance, commuting or just tootling around, get the better miles from the Road.
Mostly commuting and highway though
