Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Rear Tires

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires add two-compound technology to the already renowned Pilot® Power range. While 2CT technology originated in MotoGP racing, Pilot® Power 2CT tires are intended for the most demanding sportbike riders, who use their bikes both on the road and for track days. Its tread surface is divided into three separate areas, incorporating two different rubber compounds. This helps provide numerous benefits in terms of dry grip, lean angle, handling and progressive acceleration and braking on wet surfaces.

  • Real Moto GP technology from the tire company that has won 15 consecutive GPWorld Championships
  • 20% softer rubber mix on the edges of the tread yields phenomenal cornering grip
  • Unprecedented lean angles: 51.2 degrees in the dry on Michelin's test track
  • Precise handling and feedback
  • Track Day tire that is equally at home on the road

Excellent Buy
Read the reviews and decided to go for it. This tire is way better than my previous pirelli that was worn down. The tire actually makes the bike feel safe in most all situations, fast or slow, hot or cold, wet or dry.

Soft tire, excellent grip
I didn't purchase this tire from Revzilla, but look forward to make a big purchase for track day; thanks to their #1 service!

This set of 2cts is one of few excellent sets that offer the best riding experiences. A lot has changed since switching from the stock Dunlops; like stepping in to a different universe.
Improved handling; IMO my zx6r is much more sensitive now than before. It doesn't take much effort in fact none to lean through cornering. Increase confidence; I was always cautious before entering a corner, almost afraid that I might lose the back end. I've made some mistakes but the 2cts are somewhat forgiving because of that softer compound on the sides and they stick well. Once or twice now I was coming through a corner and suddenly had to slow down. Well, one lesson I've learned is not to slam on the brakes, so I downshifted. The 2cts slid for a "a bit" and caught grip instantly coming down from 4th to 2nd in dry conditions. As for wet conditions, I don't want to push the limit there :P However, ridden once or twice in the wet both on stock dunlops and the 2cts...60 on a corner 2ct wins.

The only downside to this or maybe not is its truly meant for cornering than straight stretches. So don't drag race smh :P as I did many times. I'm left with half maybe less tread in the middle hard compound of what is left in the shoulders (see pic).

Great Tires
My first set of new tires (bought the bike with mismatched worn tires on it). Once broken in, These Tires feel AMAZING! Grip in corners is fantastic, and the ride is smooth as silk. Took them 400 miles not even an hour after I got them installed, and loved every second.

I have had one set of pilot powers, two sets of power 2CTs and two sets of Power Pures. The Powers changed my bike like night and day from the stock dunlop ST tires on my SV650S. Quicker, lighter handling, much more confident grip and higher lean angles. The 2CTs did appear somewhat stickier, but not hugely noticeable either. Mileage comparison-wise, I moved from the DC area to FL, so after changing to the 2cts and driving mostly always straight, I'm not seeing any more mileage than Powers (4000mi) or Power Pures. The Pilot Pures are noticeably less treaded than the powers or 2cts, but do offer somewhat more eager maneuvering. Overall grip seems to be about the same, but the pures are approx 2lbs lighter which I think helps the poor stock suspension on the SV650. All 3 Perfectly suitable for the track, but really great street tires. I love them all, just depends on how many $$s you want to spend- Can't go wrong with any of 'em. How can you go wrong with a 51deg lean angle?

Very Good Tire
Great tire. Came on my S1000RR when I bought it, previous owner had used the tire. Definitely take a little to get used to. They feel, for lack of a better term, gummy when you lean them over. This is a good thing, as you really feel the tire biting.

Dry traction is great, never had a problem. Don't have any idea about the wet traction, haven't ridden in the rain much with the bike.

A quick thing to note, these are VERY sensitive to tire temperature I've found. Don't go and drag knees until you get some heat in them.

Overall, I would and am planning on buying them again. Only downside is they don't last super long, but you don't buy these to get 10k miles out of them. You buy them because they grip like a banshee.

Awesome Tires!
Awesome Tires!
My 2003 Yamaha R6 feels so agile now in the corners I put about 150 miles on them so far and they still have the Vent Spews on them!
I haven't had a bike in many years but with the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT'S on my R6 I'm starting to get my confidence back!
I'm sure i can max out the chicken strips in no-time! They have great feedback as-well,
I will definitely be buying them again! Revzilla is my new favorite online Motorcycle store.

Great tire as expected from Michelin
Always like to review after much use... I bought these tires mid season last year and was immediately impressed with the tire. By comparison, Ive had dunlop Q2s and a brand called Maxis I cant really find anywhere (not bad, but certainly just a cheap tire for a commuter, not great for hard cornering). This tire immediately inspired confidence in the corners, very responsive as well I got great feedback from this tire while leaned over. grip is great, wet and dry. Rode on absolutely soaked roads after a storm in VT (very bumpy roads which are sketchy in wet) and never felt any lack of grip. Tread life looks like what you'd expect from Michelin. rode around 2000 mi on this tire and will get almost another full season out of it (4-5k) these offer better grip than the Q2s IMHO and would recommend to anyone looking for a tire that hugs.

Already awesome
I bought this tire 2 days ago already like it and broke it in (100miles on it). Took some turns faster than I did on my 650 surprised me considering the nimbleness of a 650cc twin vs my Z1000 I have now. It hooks up way better than my Q3 did. No sliding in turns like the Q3. Rode in the slimy dew covered roads this morning no issues. I love it. Feels even more planted than my PP3s did. This weekend I am going to test the grip sideways under more power. But I don't hink it will drift like the Q3. I did a 100+ turn last night no issues and almost no squirm.

How does this tire perform in wet conditions?
Christopher H on Oct 22, 2013
Sorry for the late and probably irrelavent answer by now but I honestly haven't ridden these tires in rain/wet conditions. Damp conditions yes and I would give them a very good rating, however when it's raining/wet pavement I tend to dial it back anyway. In dry conditions these tires in my opinion are also very good. The Power 2ct's are also suppose to be a longer lasting tire. I wasn't much impressed with that. I got less that 4000 out of the rears. Keep in mind a tire's mileage soely depends on riding style. The more aggressive you are with engine braking and accelerating you can expect to get less mileage out of your tires. I consider myself a "Spirited" rider but certainly not a knee dragger.

Is this a front and rear tire package for the listed price?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This is just the rear 180 tire, already had the front pair. As for the price, I didn't buy from Revzilla and prices have changed a bit. I don't remember exact pricing at the local moto shop but remember paying close to $190 total which includes installation.
Hello there,
I need to buy rear tire for my 2009 Yamaha R6 and I am thinking between Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Rear Tire and Michelin Pilot Road 2 Rear Tire. I dont go on race track, i am just ridding for fun.
Can You please, tell me more about difference between these two tires and which one would you recommend?

Thank You, Milan
A S on Nov 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Having ridden both of these tires on my 02 zx6r, I can tell you that it was very hard to tell the difference. Both have great turn in, and can be ridden pretty aggressively. Theoretically the Power has better grip and heats up quicker, but it for sure has less life.

I did have a low speed lowside on the Road. Did I screw up the corner? was my tire cold? Would the Power have made a difference? I really can't say, but I have decided not to compromise, I ride for deep corners so I get the tire that is best for that, the Power. If I was ridding for distance I would get the Road 2.

So the question is what do you want to do with it? If you ride to ride hard and are scrubbing off your chicken strips get the Power, if you are going the distance, commuting or just tootling around, get the better miles from the Road.
hey i have a ninja 300 with a 140 rear tire, I'm looking for a 180 rear tire 17 inc, there is anyway i could do this upgrade? idont want a bigger ride with big tire, i totally fine with mine, any suggestions?
A shopper on Aug 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Keep the 140 size! Sometimes you can fit a slightly wider tire on the stock rim, but I wouldn't recommend it (I've tried sizing up from a 160 to a 170 before). It pinches the tire and changes the tire profile. This will usually have negative effects on the handling. Definitely wouldn't recommend putting a 180 on the stock rim because that sounds dangerous. The 140 is sized appropriately for the Ninja 300 and you shouldn't find yourself overpowering the stock rear size. Plus, bigger tires are heavier, so you'll find that the bike would respond slower. A much heavier tire would feel sluggish. A 140 will work best!
Is the 2ct a 4 ply tire?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: it is a 2 compound tire. I have 7,000 miles on mine and it should easily hit 10,000.
Mostly commuting and highway though
In the example above:
51 Manufactured during the 51st week of the year
07 Manufactured during 2007
A shopper on Jan 20, 2012
BEST ANSWER: We don't have a way of checking the age of the tires prior to shipment, however, we have a high turnover rate on Michelin tires, so chances are very slim that you would receive something more than a year old.
i have a kawi zx6 2011 and i have 190/50/17 but i want to change to 190/55/17 does it fit???
A C on Apr 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Although in some cases the rear hugger may rub, depending on the tire.
What are the optimal tyre pressures for these tires front and rear? I ride an '06 zx14
A C on Mar 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: To get the best answer to the question, you might need to add more detail. Are you riding on the street, track or both? ...all year long or just in the summer? all high speed staightaway riding or lots of twists and turns? also, not sure if this makes as much of a difference but what size are you planning on running? 190-50-17 in the rear or 190-55-17?
