Does it all
(I gave this jacket a 3/5 on protection/durability, only because the snap on the rain liner collar came unglued only a couple of weeks after purchase, but Revzilla was great about getting it looked after). Aside from that, the jacket has been flawless in its intended capacity as a versatile, long range, touring/ADV jacket. It's been perfectly warm from 0-10C, has been waterproof (with the liner in), and on hotter 30C days (spring in Ontario is always unpredictable), the ventilation scheme has kept me as cool as can be expected while commuting in a metropolitan city. The fit is a bit larger, but you don't want to size down too much, as you still need to wear it with a liner in a some point. I'm 6'1, 180lbs and the medium fits me perfectly with both liners attached. The rabbit pouch in the rear could use some boxing out to be more effective, and more interior pockets (aside from the single wallet pocket on the liner) would be welcome. For the money however, this jacket provides an excellent range of functionality. Well done Merlin.

Quite surprised!
First and foremost: This is my first motorcycle jacket, so I can’t compare to other brands, and my opinion is based strictly on knowledge of this jacket only.

Bang for the buck: Managed to pick this up on sale, and for the cost, I’m shocked by the initial quality. Material wise, it feels very, very sturdy, well made. Going through all of the features, multiple liners, several vents, neck gaiter, several pockets, very impressed.

Protection and durability: well this is hard to really rate considering I have no other experience, and I’ve only had it for a week, but it has great feel, and once I upgrade the back pad, I think the protection portion will be more than sufficient.

Features: Pockets are plentiful. The small lower ones are good for carrying wallet/ferry pass which are easy to access, BUT, they are a pain to re-Zip when the jacket and gloves are on. The larger waterproof pockets are very nice size. The handwarmer pockets (which I JUST, discovered) are actually perfect, the opening is smaller, so once your hands are in, the wind stays out.
The first day I rode it, I was in about 30 minutes of rain, nothing crazy, but enough that in other jackets I would have been wet, or cold, and I was neither in this.
I’ve rode in this for the past week and a half, and the temperature has slowly plummeted here in the PNW, I leave my house around 5:45am, and it was 28 degrees outside. 30 min ride to the ferry, at about 50mph, my arms and chest, are not only not cold, but even feel warm, and this is with nothing more than an undershirt, and cotton button down shirt below. The zipper sleeves, and straps to tighten things up work great, and make the coat feel more “tailored”
Can’t wait to test the vents and less lining in the Summer.

Comfort: I can’t compare it to anything else, but it’s a motorcycle jacket, it’s “stiff” for a reason. I wear it into the office everyday, and it feels like a motorcycle jacket if you compare it to my other daily coats, but it’s not uncomfortable by any means. The thermal portion keeps you very toasty, the neck gaiter, and even the soft lined neck collar is nice, I only wish they had more adjustability as I have a large neck, and even just barely touching Velcro to Velcro, it’s still tight on my neck. I also have wide shoulders and broad chest, it feels slightly more constricting in these areas, but it may “break in”.

Style: I’ve acrually received several comments funny enough, by other motorcycle guys, on the styling. - several have never heard of the brand, and loved the way it looked, esp. after telling them it was 1/3 the cost of their... “K” brand.

Airflow: I gave this a “5” because it has little to no airflow when fully zipped up, and liners are in, when no liners are in, and vents are open, you have some significant ventilation. - I’ve yet to wear this in anything over 50 degrees, so I can’t comment how it feels in warm, but I’m confident it will do just as well in 75-80 as it is doing in my current high 20’s.

Size: listen to the video. According to the size chart I’m an XL, which was sold out at the time. I watched the video and they mentioned downsizing (just so happens I have similar measurements to the guy in the video, but I’m also 6’4) so I picked up a Large, and it was perfect. If I’m wearing a thick sweater, and try to put this on with all of the layers, it’s tight, but I rarely wear thick shits, and with the thermal liner, I have no need to. My measurements are as follows: 6’4” - 45” chest - 35” waist, and ape like arms. (Not sure of the measurements on my ape arms), but I find almost every sleeve is to short, these sleeves, damn near perfect.

Showed up coming undone.
I love the style and features of the Horizon but buyer beware, the workmanship leaves a bit to be desired. One of the velcro strips inside the zipper flap wasn't sewn on completely and the liner zipper is a joke... at my current weight I pop it out of the track. it is a small and cheap zipper. I'm going to live with the product because I've been loosing weight and knew they ran small.
Most would return it but I'm going to live with it because I think it will work great in the Spring/Summer/Fall next year. Some adhesive on that velcro and 10 less pounds It'll be all good. Screw zipping that liner.
