Awesome quality and sound, some design improvements...
Installed this on my new-to-me seventy-two, which had some cycle shack slip ons installed when I bought it - those definitely had to go!

Packaging, really well done, pipes shrinkwrapped and in foam padding. Instructions were pretty good. Comes with locktite, which is for the mounting screws for the black endcaps - this is not mentioned once in the instructions, but it is noted on the cardboard backing in the box (did not notice for the longest time!).

The looks and quality are simply stunning, incredible. Pipes are powdercoated (from what i could tell anyway) and solid. Hanger was beefy and well designed. No crossover piping between the two pipes on this one. Heat shields were nicely chromed and fit well. For the very reasonable price, I can't simply imagine better quality, really nice stuff here.

Install wasn't exactly difficult, but didn't go as easily as I'd hoped. The issue is the O2 sensor ports, which are welded in at a 90 degree angle, not angled/canted like they are on the OEM pipes. Yes, i'm using the sensors, if you're not inclined then you can ignore this little matter. Anywho, instructions say install the O2 sensors into the pipes prior to bolting up the pipe onto the bike. Well, i gotta say they're right, its the only way. Even with a proper O2 sensor socket, the orientation of the sensors won't allow you to get the socket onto the sensor to tighten if the pipes are already installed. Ok fine, take the pipes off and install sensors, then reinstall the pipes. Now the sensor is in the way for tightening the lower exhaust flange bolt on the rear cylinder, and that now requires a clawfoot wrench! **grumble, grumble** They could have made it abit easier on me as i'm just not that good with a wrench. Am i bein abit picky here? Is there some easier way that just didn't come to me? Yeah, maybe. Well team Magnaflow, the O2 sensor ports get my vote for an improvement on an otherwise awesome product.

Oh yeah, how do they sound? Really nice! Look, its abit louder than i was expecting, not straighpipes loud but pretty dang loud. But its growing on me and she sounds really nice from the saddle when you give her a firm twist. So despite the minor complaints on the install, they're on now, and i'm really really liking these. I reckon you'll like em too;)

Disappointed overall
Good news: quality of materials and fabrication is very good. Packaging is good. Sound is great - a low rumble that sounds more like a big twin than a Sportster.

But the bad news is bad. Like the other reviewer, I went crazy trying to get a nut on the rear lower exhaust flange stud. It didn't matter if the O2 sensor was in or out. The rather large bung protrudes from the pipe and is right in front of the flange stud. I have U-joint extensions for my sockets, short sockets, flexible-shaft drivers and shorty wrenches, and I could not get anything on that nut. Finger tight with lots of Loctite was the best I could manage.

A bigger negative is the location of the exhaust pipes. They're reasonably high, but positioned far away from the bike. The result is a dramatic decrease in cornering clearance in right turns. The pipe from the front cylinder scrapes the pavement often and hard, well before the tires and pavement limit the lean angle.

This a common style exhaust system. I have no experience with the offerings from V&H, Cobra or others, but I have to think those products do better on cornering clearance - an important factor for me. After owning the Ness system for a month I'm shopping for a new exhaust. I own and use a lot of Arlen Ness products and I'm very happy with pretty much all of them, but I can't recommend this one.
