Awesome helmet for a great price!
First off, I ride a rat-fighter so this helmet is mainly used on city streets and highway. Build quality is not at all what you'd expect from a $130 helmet, it's more what you'd expect from a $300+ price range.

The shield has no visible distortion, gives a wide field of view and thanks to massive air flow, is fog free. I think the fit is a bit loose, not unsafe, just a bit looser than I prefer. The liner wicks well and is very plush, this plus the light weight and single piece cheek pads add up to a very comfortable helmet. There is even a recessed portion for glasses, so no more having the arms squeezed into my skull. In addition to the DOT/ECE rating, the cheek pads have a quick release feature so if you crash, the helmet can be removed without compromising your c-spine.

The peak has some drag at highway speeds which is to be expected but it's not terrible, even during head-checks. The benefit of the peak far out weighs the drag issue. The built in tinted shield works great, has no distortion and operates smoothly.

The Pioneer has become my favorite helmet. I'm really impressed with LS2 and their products.

LS2 Pioneer- Long term review
I've got about 10,000 miles with this helmet now. I absolutely love this helmet and only reach for something else to wear when it's cold outside (below 40 degrees F).

It vents awesome, like it should, so it is a bit noisy. That should be expected, but pop in a pair of foamies ( as you should anyway) and it's as quiet as anything else.

The visor is awesome. In the video Anthony kinda bathmouthed this helmet more than I think he should have. True, there are no visor detents, but I'm GLAD it doesn't. I can put the visor wherever I want it- I'm no forced to park it where the detents think it should go. I rarely ever lock the visor completely closed, so the stiff lock doesn't matter. This allows for a slight amount o fair flow that prevents any fogging in any conditions, in my experience. If it is raining I will lock the visor.

True, the vents don't close. But again, not an issue. I've been in some downpours and never got wet inside. Just closed the visor and chin vent fully and rock on.

The helmet has been super durable. I've had more than one rock bounce off the visor and wonder how the heck it did not break anything. One tiny scratch is all I have. I can't count how many times I've had to use something abrasive( like paper towels from a gas station restroom) to clean this visor in a pinch...it's still clear as when I got it.

The sunbeak is proper. Unlike most pseudo ADV or DS helmets, this beak is actually long enough to work, rather than just a decoration. It's no tan issue on the road. I use this helmet for everything from single track to sport touring. 4+ hours at a time on the highway is not a problem with this beak. Yes, you feel some tugging on headchecks, but it's not a big deal and should be expected.

Sunvisor is also proper dark, comes down all the way to your nose and has never failed to function smoothly. Quality.

LS2 is now my go-to helmet brand. There are no shorcuts on this helmet, no cheap parts, no lack of quality of fit&finish...just a solid, safe, quality helmet at a fair price.

I honestly am considering buying a spare just incase I ever wreck my Pioneer and find them discontinued. I do not want to ride in anything else.

Oh, and the no d-rings for locking the helmet issue? Simply pop an 1/8" hole through the tip of the male portion of the chin strap and rock on. Easy fix that does not affect the structural integrity of the mechanism.

Fit was better than expected.
I just received my helmet today, so some of my ratings aren't accurate. The helmet fit was perfect. I have a 24 1/8" long-oval brain pan, the XL fit like a dream. They come with reflectIive stickers that are for optional use, and a QR code for an online manual. Glasses and goggles both fit very well. Mine came with the quick-release strap instead of d-rings but I think it may come with either. The visor swivels around 1 1/2" after loosening the screws on top, which is easily done with gloves on. The inner sun shield is darker than expected and the lever is in a great, easy to find area on the bottom left with a horizontal lever. Plenty of air flow, only one closable vent up front. Inner material is soft, no chafing the cheeks when putting on or removing. There are two decent-sized flat areas on either side of the chin vent for easy gopro mounting. My Sena SMH10r with low-profile speakers fit with room to spare. Right out of the box, I would recommend it to anyone with a funny shaped lid that is looking for a budget-friendly helmet that surpasses other's in its category.

Oh, and you get a Revzilla sticker pack with it, because they're awesome. So awesome that I put one of the stickers on my new helmet, and I am not fond of stickering my helmet.

Great ADV helmet for my DR650 riding.
Pros:
Excellent price for a very good quality helmet. Looks great, fits my long oval head well, can wear my glasses with it, drop down sun shade, adjustable/removable visor, fairly light weight, fit is true to size.
Cons:
As with other reviews, cheek pads a little tight and I don't have a wide face but should loosen over time, noisy but expected for this type helmet, clear shield not optically perfect and find my eyes/brain needs some time to compensate to be less conscious of it but just a minor gripe.

If one has an oval/long oval head shape, this helmet is a very good, affordable ADV style option.

Great helmet!
I ride a wr250r and wanted a motocross look but still wanted a visor. This is an awesome helmet, it fits great, I measure to a LG and it fits great after a few days break in its perfect. Only complaint is from 55mph on its a wind catcher and it's loud. But I never ride highway and only hit about 60mph max ever where I ride, so this isn't the best choice for highway commuting. It's also fairly loud but again for its intended purpose it's perfect for me. I also love the built in sunscreen, I no longer need to carry sunglasses. I've owned a few different brands and for a "budget" price helmet this thing is awesome.

Great Helmet
Helmet is awesome. Loaded with features that you would find on higher end helmets. Outstanding for the price. Very lightweight, comfortable, very breathable, wide vision area, face shield has a good seal, lastly the drop down sun shield is a perfect touch.

Downside the helmet is very loud at around 50+mph but that's expected from a dual sport helmet. Wind does catch sometimes at those speed. Sizing seems a bit off I got a large with is what was recommended for my head size and it feels a bit to big if I shake my head it has more play than I'd like.

All helmets have downsides but this is truly an awesome dual sport helmet I would highly recommend. Great job on ls2 end awesome helmet. Thanks Revzillia.

Light, but No ECE Marks and More Round than Oval
Critical points:
* Shape is NOT LONG OVAL as the listing states. I would agree with what Anthony said in the video that this is an intermediate oval. It tends toward the round end a bit more so than my 5ish year old HJC or the AFX FX-41 I'm probably going to keep instead of this.
* No ECE MARKS anywhere to be found on the helmet or packaging. The combinations of lightweight, price point, and lack of markings makes me skeptical about the safety of this helmet.
* Light, as stated. Verified on scale listing is accurate in this regard.

To me this helmet competes very directly against the AFX FX-41. Pros and cons largely relative to that helmet.

Pros:
Light
Nice flexible peak
Good exterior build quality
Smooth outer & inner shield mechanisms
Decent quick release
Smooth action on front vent closing mechanism

Cons:
No ECE Marks
Front vent seems pretty non-removable
Only front vent is closable
Latch on outer shield is STIFF, hard to open
Outer shield doesn't seem to seal to the helmet super well
Quick release is slightly bulky
Interior build quality (liner in particular is slightly subpar

Overall, a pretty decent lightweight helmet for the price...if you are not too concerned about safety...

Great helmet for the price
Great helmet for the asking price, seems to fit a little tight, but seems to be a cheek pad issue (once broken in it should be fine). Overall great helmet. If your looking for a dualsport helmet with dropdown visor this is the best budget choice. I had it side by side with the scorpion equalivent and obviously the scorpion is of better quality (should be a double the price). I preferr the lines on the ls2 over the scorpion but I'd say the scorpion would be a better choice if you have $300 to spend on a helmet. Airflow is great, visor action is smooth and drops down far enough to cover most of your face without impending vision. Overall great FOV provided by the helmet as well. Would recommend to anyone on a budget.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
The style fit and price of this helmet are good. There are some features and things that need improvement.
1) the outter visor lock is bound to fail, it doesnt have a release button so it clips and unclips quite violently.
2) air vents, there are no top vents amd the forward vents do not close.
3) the internal sun visor does not drop down far enough so it kind of messes with your vision, also a similar problem happens if you partially open the outter shield, the shape of the lense causes significant distortion for your vision.

Overall the helmet needs some improvement but for the price style and features it is a reasonable helmet and I would recomend it

Great bang for the buck, high quality build, style and features for a good price
This is a great deal for the price. Has great look and features. I was originally looking at an AFX 39, and let me tell you this LS2 is far superior. For starters it is an intermediate oval and fits my head much better. My mouth hit the front of the same size AFX. Takes 1 or 2 rides to tame down the cheek pads. Otherwise fit is true to me. More offroad orientated DS helmet, so it may be loud and a tad grabby in wind above 70mph- duh.

Pros- massive air flow, great vision with little distortion from both shields, good fit, good quality, nice liner, sun shade is awesome. Like flexible visor. Like the quick chin strap. Super light lid. Good safety features.

Cons- it does let in a lot of air. May need to block some vents or wear a balaclava for very cold times. Detents on visor would be nice, but not a deal breaker for me. I find myself wearing eye protection under the shield because it is hard to ride at a partial crack unless you are going slow.

Overall, real impressed with build quality. Even the bag is comes with is very nice. Recommend safety glasses or other eyewear (They fit great) under the shield because it really funnels wind in even with a partial crack. Also, wear it a couple days to get used to the fit. It slides on tight, with some firm cheekpads initially, but is very comfortable once on and broke in. Great quality, lightweight and full of features. Seems like ahead of the pack for other helmets at this price point.

I had the previous model (mx436) that fit my long oval head very well. LS2 has proved to be a quality product for a extremely reasonable price. It is not an Arai XD but still a very good helmet for 1/5th the price.
Gary B on Apr 6, 2016
I have two other LS2 helmets and I think they are a great value. I like the long oval shape of the helmet shell, and the quality - fit and finish is very good. I have owned Arai, Schuberth, and Shoei helmets and while they are possibly a little nicer and offer a bit more 'status' I believe they provide no more safety or functionality than the LS2 line. I can afford to own specialized helmets!

A shopper on Feb 7, 2017
Is the visor removable?
Frank J on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can remove the roost visor. There are two screws on top and two on the side. The side screws hold the actual visor/shield. There is nothing to clean up the look on the side screws or top screws. But the top roost visor it can be removed.
Is this also DOT approved?
Wanida P on May 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is DOT approved according to labeling. Labelling does not show it meeting European Standard, though.
will there be room for glasses under the sun visor?
A C on Nov 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yep, plenty of room for my glasses behind both the face shield and sun visor. It actually has a tag on both cheek pads that say "glasses". Goggles fit behind the shield as well. The helmet is somewhat more oblong than other long oval helmets.
Ok, DOT, but also Snell approved?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is only DOT approved that I’m aware of.
Does the LS2 Pioneer Solid meet Australian Safety Standards?
A shopper on May 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is advertised as ECE compliant but my helmet is only labeled DOT. A quick check of Aussi regs. suggests that an Aussi helmet must be labeled as such (ECE) and have an "E" Aussi approval sticker. So I'm guessing that a DOT only sticker would not fly. If it were me, I'd check with the Aussi DOT for clarification.
