LS2 FF323 Arrow Helmet - Solid

The LS2 Arrow Helmet is a high performance, full-face helmet designed by racers for racers. The LS2 FF323 Helmet was developed by designers and engineers in Spain, working with Moto 2, Moto 3 and MotoGP riders. Together they've made the safest, most innovative performance helmet on the market. The lightweight, aerodynamic tri-composite fiberglass shell cuts through the wind, but  is extremely stable and the eye port is about ¾” taller, allowing you to look farther down the track when tucked-in. It’s also extra wide so you can see who’s coming beside you. The optically correct, race-ready 3mm flat shield comes with tear-off posts, is LS2 Fog Fighter ready and swaps quickly and easily using tool-less quick release technology.

The Emergency Quick Release System removable cheek pads are precision cut from one solid piece of high quality foam using LS2’s 3D Laser Technology. The moisture wicking technical fabric liner is fully removable and washable. Fully adjustable flow-through ventilation allows you to stay cool and the traditional Double-D Ring strap ensures a secure fit.  Whether you’re a racer, sport rider, or commuter, you’ll find the performance you need.

Fit: Narrow, runs small. Sizing up 1 cm is recommended. For example, if you measure in at 60cm go with an XL instead of a LG.

Features:

  • HPFC (High Performance Fiberglass Composite), a carefully layered blend of a unique fiberglass weave and organic resin into a strong, ultra-light weight, but rigid shell that accepts an impact while dispersing energy for a safer ride
  • Channeled EPS
  • Quick release shield system
  • Pinlock / Fog Fighter-ready 3D optically correct face shield with tear-off posts
  • Removable and washable comfort liner
  • Removable chin curtain

  • Top and chin vents with exhaust port in back
  • Double D-ring metal security plate reinforced strap
  • Emergency release system cheek pads with laser cut foam

Great Helmet!
I was looking for a helmet with a little more visibility than my previous helmet. This helmet does not disappoint. The helmet is light, around 3lb, depending on size, and with very good visibility. There is a slight whistle above 70mph when tucked, but not much air noise apart from that. There isn't much sound deadening, so road noise comes through pretty loudly. I recommend earplugs for any rides over 35-40 minutes with this helmet, but that's a good idea anyway. The lining and cheek pads are all removable, so its easy to clean.

All in all, this helmet is a great buy. I have been really impressed with the fit, finish and features of this helmet for this price point!

I've had it since March, so long term review.
OK, the airflow first.

Your face will get a lot of air. The crown of your head? Meh. I've never really felt it unless you are in full tuck with the top of your helmet directly in the air coming off of your bike's windshield. I ride a 1999 Honda VFR with a stock windscreen.

Long term quality? Not really there and I"ll explain.

First, be VERY careful removing the cheekpads, as they are partially held in with a wire and that wire is made from ductile, or easily bent, metal. DO NOT PULL BY THE RED EMERGENCY STRAPS. Bend it once and you'll never get it to fit right.

The chin guard works ok, but don't expect it to stay in place long term. It seems that over time, it will start poking out past the bottom of the helmet. I'm actually on my second one, because the first one cracked and wouldn't stay put and it was replaced by LS2.

The visors: Well, the factory supplied one is crystal clear. Very easy to see through with zero distortion. Keep it clean and it's like it's not even there. I have not been wearing this visor very much, but one of the screws fell out of the locking tab, so be certain yours are tight. Maybe a tiny portion of threadlock on them.

The dark smoke? Not so much. I bought one from a different retailer that had one in stock. (Sorry Revzilla, please forgive me...) When you are riding into the sun, it is cloudy, to the point of making it dangerous to see at times. I have to keep it immaculately clean, but the plastic or acrylic that they use is very low grade. When you have the sun to your side or back, it is great, but as soon as you turn to the sun in your face, it's like it gets foggy. I exchanged the first one I bought and got another, exactly the same. You have to keep it immaculately clean, else it is a hazard. My last ride with it, I had to keep the visor lifted to see when I was riding in a place with shadows. To contrast this, I have a pair of $1.00 sunglasses from the Dollar Store and even they don't do this.

I emailed the manufacturer pictures of this as well as the retailer and they somehow couldn't see the problem, even though it is obvious in the pictures. I haven't tried any other visor for it so perhaps it is limited to the dark smoke. It looks really good on the helmet, but is fairly dangerous to ride with.

Lastly, my review of the visor latch mechanism. In the video at the 4:30 mark, you see that Anthony has problems getting he visor to click into place just by pushing on it. This only works for a while, then for some reason you have to start pulling down on the release lever to get the visor to go into place. No big deal really, but I want to pass it on. ALSO!!! CHECK THE VISOR MECHANISM SCREWS!!! They come loose, as I don't think China tightens them enough. I almost lost two of them.

If these few items could be corrected by the manufacturer, it would be a great lid. I have written both the the US wholesaler and the actual Chinese manufacturer about getting a Transitions lens for their helmets. I have no idea if it will ever happen.

Amazing field of view
I switched from AVG K3 SV to this helmet. The fit is a lot better but that is probably because of the narrower head shape.

What is amazing though with this helmet is the field of view. When riding is like you are wearing no helmet at all. You can barely see the edges of the helmet and that really adds to your riding experience. It was the first helmet that I felt so comfortable with. I didn't feel like it gets on the way or block my view when in sitting in a low position on the highway. You almost forget its there.

Remember though this is a pretty narrow helmet and it fits just a little bit small. I have a 56cm head measurement and medium fits great.

One thing missing though. No integrated sunvisor...

Crushed my forehead at home
Can't really offer an whole rating since I couldn't ride in it. I was looking for a long oval helmet that DID come with a chin curtain and DIDN'T come with an internal sun visor (because those sketch me out). I ordered the Arrow in the Large and had to send it back because it felt like my head was in a vice—the whole thing was just too small and I could feel my veins bulging.

So I went a size up and it felt better, but the fitment in the cheeks turned out to be too loose (I could probably eat lunch with that helmet on). Call me weird, but the problem I had with both sizes was forehead pressure. Even in the XL, I felt pressure on my entiiire forehead (from the left side to the right), and it started giving me a headache after a while. I wonder if these are a bit closer to the intermediate oval end of the long oval spectrum. I'm going to look at an Icon Airmada next (I tried one of those on ages ago and it fit like a dream) but those don't come with a chin curtain. I'm cursed :[

Is this helmet okay for a 3/4 tuck or upright riding position? Or would it get buffeted around a lot?
Coby H on Sep 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately I don't know this as that is not my riding style but it is a fantastic fit and very nicely designed. Reviews all say it is good for what you are asking about and the vision is very broad afor being tucked.
I wear eye glasses - are there channels so your eye glass arms can comfortably slide in once the helmet is on?

BEST ANSWER: I have never had a problem with sunglasses on.
I see it's ECE approved. Can we substitute that for DoT approval?

BEST ANSWER: He helmet has both DOT AND ECE certs.
If you are borderline size pick larger
how is this one doing on high speed, noise i mean?
Mohamed E on Feb 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This helmet is better than my Icon on the freeway. It is a warm helmet however. Not tons of venting.
My previous helmet was HJC IS17. How you think - fitment in Arrow will be ok for me? I can't try 'em anywhere.
