LighTech Frame Sliders Yamaha FZ-07 2015-2017 Videos

LighTech Frame Sliders Yamaha FZ-07

Through years of testing with the top World Superbike teams, LighTech has developed an innovative concept of constructing frame sliders by focusing on the materials used.

Each frame slider is constructed with a lightweight and high impact absorbing magnesium base, anti-shock polymer ring, shatter resistant nylon puck and magnesium bushing. This allows the frame slider to cushion the impact during a fall without transferring energy to the frame.

Optional color Anti-shock Polymer Ring available (sold separately)

Replacement Frame Slider Pucks available (sold separately)

Great product from Lightech
Easy to install, built like a tank, looks sharp on my FZ-07 and great service from Revzilla, of course. So far, I've been really happy with all my Lightech purchases. I wanted my frame sliders and my front and rear axle sliders to match so I went with Lightech because of their reputation and they all match very well. Good decision.

They Look Great and Work!!!!
First, the install took two minutes and honestly they really added a nice look to the bike. However, the most important thing is that they actually work. I went down going about 45 to 50 and the left side of my bike slid on pavement for a good 20 feet. Once the shock wore off and I checked the bike over I realized that these things completely saved my engine and painted fairing. My shifter got bent and my black side plastic got scraped, but that's it. These were $90 well spent.

One major over site
I really only have one gripe with these sliders, but it is a major problem in my opinion. It's hard to describe, but I will try my best.

So I dropped my bike during a (relatively) slow, tight corner and the slider did its job seemingly well (i.e. no major damage, bent shifter being the worst of it). It wasn't until I removed it that I realized it's flawed design. The spacer that goes between the slider and the frame (the thing that the bolt travels through) is thinner in diameter than the surrounding circular inlet used to get to the engine bolt. This means that during my crash the sideways force on the slider caused the bolt to bend because the extra room around the spacer allowed it to. My main concern with this are the threads in the engine getting stripped or some similar problem that could be easily prevented.

I have since bought the woodcraft sliders which rectify that issue. However, I haven't yet dropped my bike with those installed so I can't comment on how they stand up in a crash. I don't feel that the above bolt issue would be a problem though.

I hope my experience helps others and that I described the issue clearly enough. If my friend ever edits the woodcraft install video, I will add that as well.

Durable, stylish, and easy to install.
Not weeks after installing these on my FZ-07, they took a hit when I carelessly dropped the bike in the driveway (protip: don't ride when you're really tired). They protected every part of the bike except for the exhaust, handlebar, mirror, and brake lever (as expected). Damage to these components was very minor, considering the drop, with just a few scrapes on each part and a slight bend in the brake lever. Compared to what the damage would have been without the sliders on, I'm very pleased.

Sliders in general are something I always recommend, but these did not take much damage after the drop. I have seen sliders become slashed or gouged after hitting concrete and these look almost like new; the damage is not noticeable unless you look closely. I highly recommend these for anyone wanting to stylishly protect their bike.

To those worrying about the red anti-shock rings (RevZilla #931631) matching the hue of the red spring on the rear coilover, as I did, don't worry about it. They look great.

Here's to hoping I never have to test them at speed.

Why did you choose this?

I wanted something to help protect my bike in case of an accidental tip over and to cover up the holes in the fz 07 frame. Aesthetically, these were my personal favorite.

BEST ANSWER: Searched a couple other sites that had pictures of the product in its packaging and it seems to contain 2 as well as the necessary installation tool in applicable cases. I will be surprised if it arrives with only 1. We shall see.
