Reviews & Questions
Upon obtaining my motorcycle endorsement, it hit me that I had almost no gear. Being as I had a KDX200 dual sport, I soon learned to appreciate the added shin protection these offered, especially for the comically horrible newbie technique using a kickstart.
These fit quite well under some 511 tach pants or jeans. I have since purchased some S&S Rage With The Machine jeans but found that the armor is terrible and does not stay in place. I feel much more comfortable with the Leatt secured to my leg. I have a top box so I can always take 2 mins to remove them for walking around town but on cold days its actually kind of nice. Riding jeans that have knee armor may be a bit cooler temperature wise but are not nearly as comfortable.
Until I try to upgrade to D30 in the S&Ss and stitch them in place, these will be my go to for rides beyond the milk and eggs run.
For the price you really can't go wrong.

They work perfectly with "shorty" MX or street boots. The shorter version of this guard (the non "EXT"), would be more ideal for use with traditional MX height boots.
Being a full coverage "heavy duty" guard, they will get a little sweaty, but they're really not bad. The material wicks and breathes well, and the open back helps also. They will fit under jeans, provided they're a loose/relaxed fit. Most MC-specific pants are very loose cut and will not be an issue, and these are more comfortable (and protective) than the lame built-in pads a lot of MC jeans come with.
You do need to remove your shoes/boots to get them on and off due to the sleeve design. Fortunately, they're comfortable enough I don't mind, and just leave them on for off-bike stops. They're quick and easy to put on. The "guides" on the straps keep them from getting all tangled up in your gear bag, so just slip them on, pull the straps up, and done. No fussing around with a mess of tangled velcro and threading straps into loops.
I'm 5-8, 165lbs, fairly average build with maybe a little meatier legs than average. The L/XL fits great, and would fit quite a bit larger- probably work for most.
